  1. Just glancing at the schedules it wouldn't be an issue at all. There are several ways to do it. It doesn't take two hours for a dual meet. Maybe two hours with both teams warming up ect.. since there will be extra mats have the next group warmed up and ready to wrestle on the next mat. Then your looking at an 1:10 - 1:25 mins each match. That's one way. Or better scheduling of times would be another way. Or wrestle finals matches at same time of the consolation finals in the same division. Many fixes to this problem. Just like they always said the individual tournament would never be double elimination. All it takes is a little effort. But people are more worried about ice cream instead of the quality and experience of the tournament.
  2. I think they are trying to get the fans closer to the action to make the energy more exciting. I agree with this. If everyone will remember that when the mats were in the center of the arena that everyone was so far away the atmosphere was not what it's been in the past. What I do not like and every single person I've talked to is opposed to is all three finals being wrestled at once. Most fans want to watch all three matches. Someone needs to contact the tssaa asap and express their feelings. The Tssaa should be here to work for it's members and not the other way around. Maybe they will listen to our suggestions
  3. You are behind the times my friend. Cleveland, Baylor, Bradley ect dropped their leagues a couple of years ago. Cleveland and Bradley, Lake Forest and Ocoee joined up with a couple of N Georgia schools and formed a new league. They can now wrestle outside teams but still can't attend individual tournaments and have in fact been penalized for doing so. I'm pretty sure they wish they were able to do whatever they wanted. Chattanooga has a public school league but it is horrible. They only wrestle 6 weeks, can't wrestle anyone outside their league, can't wrestle individual tournaments. Soddy is very good and a couple of others are decent at best and the rest could care less about wrestling. The serious coaches in that league all wish they weren't in it.
  4. Sorry, I didn't realize you guys wrestled USA in middle school out west. I think this poster was asking about the Knoxville area Which is 100% Aau along with Chattanooga and most of Nashville. I would say all but a handful of the best middle schoolers wrestle Aau and not USA for folkstyle I'm Tennessee.
  5. There is a Tmssa organization but I would not join that. It is really holding up the rest of the state from having a big statewide league . Your kids will not be able to participate outside your league. Pelican didn't give you very accurate info , USA wrestling is mon existent in Tennesse for middle school. The Aau has a middle school league and statewide open tournaments. My nephew wrestles in it and I can't believe how it's grown since my kids wrestled. Someone told me they had 5000 say kids in Tennessee now.
  6. Coach Blair, please read this and take it to heart. I would poll some of the other teams and get feedback. I have had atleast a dozen discussions in the last week about the duals with large, small, and Dii coaches, wrestlers and fans. Every single person stated they hope the finals are all separate so the true fans can watch them all. The wrestlers themselves would like to watch the other championships as well. I'm sure a few patents wouldn't want it but the majority of the people involved in the finals are serious wrestling people and this is a huge mistake. Please talk to the Centrals, Science Hill, Hixson,Soddy, BAylor, CBS, ect and see what they want.
  7. Nobody has answered why Central forfeited so many weights. Seems strange to forfeit to your rival after self proclaiming to be the best! Too Funny
  8. A tie with Hixson? Are you sure? Not trying to down Hixson but that doesn't seem even remotely possible since 1991 or so. a tougher schedule definitely pays off in matches like this. Those matches where Bradley was better but Soddy fought off bonus points has to atleast to some degree be because the Soddy kids have wrestled Cleveland, Baylor, Cbhs and whoever else multiple times. They have been in battles and wars and it showed. I'm pretty sure playing in the sec makes our football teams better out of conference. Same principle
  9. Tex, I don't know who you are but you are pretty clever. I think I noticed a few subtle jabs you threw in there in your discussion with rcpatriot.
  10. Looks great and very user friendly
  11. We simply don't have enough kids to go to 3 lb weight classes unless you want 4 man brackets. I'm not sure track wrestling makes things more competitive but it does help make running a tournament easier. The folder system Knoxville and Nashville uses is very outdated. If you want to know where the best kids are in Tn I would check the top 100 standings and go to the tournament in their area. Chattanooga uses Track for most of it's tournaments
  12. First of all you contradict yourself. In one post you say Tn doesn't allow kids to move up a weight class in their age group then in the next you say we should go to 3 lb weight classes because 4.5 lbs is too much? You can wrestle up a weight in Tn just not in the same tournament. The reason is because it slows the tournament down. As far as getting mat time, I'm not sure how we could pull off multiple tournaments a week unless you want to wrestle tournaments on weeknights. If you are with a good program you should be able to get all the mat time you need at practice. If not I would seek out other practice partners and good coaching most importantly. Its a fine line between wrestling enough and burning kids out. We have many kids here in Tennessee who can and do compete with any Kids in the country.
  13. Looking at the lopsided victory Science Hill had against the C made me wonder how good Science Hill is. Looking at their results from their tournament this weekend I see that the highest finisher they had was one 3rd place. Centrals defeat to them looks a whole lot worse and really magnifies the C's lack of quality opponents
  14. Soddy has traveled to some tough tournaments as well
  15. I am jealous. I have always wanted to be a purple flounder. Can't wait to see you guys at state! Sounds like you will tear it up.
  16. . Ok, I'll make it simple. You are touting your team all over this board and even had the newspaper right an article on you guys being 14-0 for the first time in school history. Basically I'm calling you out for lying, for scheduling the worst schedule in the history of wrestling, and then to have the audacity to tout your accomplishments when you haven't wrestled any of the top 5 schools in your own hometown. Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it.

I was just messing with freestyle.
  18. Did the "c" pull a no show at the Ringold duals? They are good at dodging bullets it seems. Hopefully the lack of competition won't hurt them come state tournament time. It seems as though they picked up a few kids this year from Hixson middle that are helping them out this year. They have lost quite a few over the years so now maybe they won't turn people in for " recruiting" now that they gained a couple. Also in the article in the Times Free Press about them being 14-0 for the first time in school history seems to be a falsehood. 1) had they not already lost to Science Hill badly at the time of the article? 2) according to my research team Central was actually undefeated the year before the state Duals started( against Cleveland, Bradley, Soddy, Baylor ect... Not brainerd, tyner, chatt Christian, Howard, Taft youth center and gps like the current schedule). 3) the following year they also ran their record past that against the best teams in the state and ended in a three way tie for first place with hixson and Soddy for the first ever State duals slot. Only one team got to represent our region then. Central was edged out on criteria. This was one state duals, no large and small and private divisions. They also won the Karns tournament against Mccallie, Baylor, Soddy and McCintosh ( who was the Collins Hill of Georgia at the time). I do believe they also won the Cleveland duals that same year but not positive. You would think the current coach would know these things before he made brash untrue statements in the newspaper. He should know because he wrestled there right around that time. Central did win the first ever small school title in 1990 with the Johnson brothers but they were defeated by most of the bigger schools that year unlike what the newspaper article said.

Well freestyle4life, I don't mind being that guy. First of all your name says it all. Who likes freestyle anymore besides Russians? Based on the replys on here especially yours this board needs some knowledgeable people. You don't have to read my insights and I promise to not laugh publicly at yours.
  20. How in the world is the C in the small school Anyway? Don't they have over 1000 kids? When I think of small school I think of Greenback, Chattanooga Christian, Eagleville, Notre Dame. I think the tssaa needs to redo the rules. You have 100 less kids than a big school but 800 more than some smaller schools. I think if I had that many kids I would say no thanks tssaa we will wrestle with the big boys.
  21. As to a prediction on this match-up I would have to say Ooltewah. I don't think Ooltewah is as strong as they have Been in recent years but they are still a decent team. Central has only wrestled two real teams in Hixson and Science Hill. Hixson is very down this year and Science Hill destroyed them. Looking at The C 's schedule makes me wonder how they have the nerve to toot their own horn so blatantly. Then to have that article in the paper about being undefeated ! Wow that's laughable. I'll have my research team do a little digging on some of the comments in the article as I think a few were false. Scottmike needs to realize that if the C wrestled a schedule like the other big boys they would have more losses than wins. I guess we will see how well padding the schedule with teams comprised of 6 wrestlers pays off for your individuals at the state tournament. I wouldn't be shocked to see the mighty almost undefeated C with no state placers.
  22. Of course the C isn't coming. That would mean you would actually have to wrestle some upper echelon kids and teams.
