  1. I remember a few years ago when Maryville dominated 4A and Rutherford Co teams did the same in the 5A Division and I would say " Maryville needs to step to the big leagues and face this tough Middle TN county and see how they fair..." Well I got my wish and my answer, Maryville stepped up and showed up, and has been beating Rutherford Co teams year in and year out in the semi's on their way to a Championship every year since. They are the team to beat, thats for sure and I believe that the State Championship is unfortunately played in the semis every year in the upper bracket when Maryville and the other team from Middle TN meet. One year that other team will show up and put up a win against the talented Maryville, even if only by 1 point. Hopefully this year might be the one. Good luck on a great and excited match up of two teams that have yet to meet before. Injury free as well.
  2. I noticed that the medals at the individual state championships were extremely small. In fact they look the same and about as inexpensive as the medals given out at the youth level. What is costs of the "medals" that a state champion puts around his neck after an amazing feat? $2? And also how much money is paid out to the 30 or so refs on 10 mats over 3 days? Bout $15000 maybe? So u pay about $500 or so for all of our state champion medals. And u give the refs 10's of thousands of dollars? Don't u think more money should be invested in why we are there in the first place? We are talking about a state medal.....
  3. Unnecessary roughness is the appropriate call for an illegal slam.... This tourney was voluntary so no money for the refs.... You could bring the wrestler back to the mat like a baby.... But if his head hits the mat excessively, it's illegal, and the offensive wrestler didn't do his job..... Offensive wrestlers Coach yanked him up immediately after the slam and scolded him intensely..... Yeah it was unnecessary roughness.
  4. Come on out, the stripes are waiting for you..... make a difference..... be a game changer....or better yet, just stay on the sidelines, and criticize from a distance, as usual, like a regular Average Joe.....
  5. Hey NEWBEE, Have you ever reffed before? Probably not.... did you see the kids head bounce off the mat? Im sure you did......The ref made a good call, It was illegal all day and everyday. Maybe the kid should have finished the match, but thats not our call, its the defensive wrestlers... as the rule book states. Let me ask you a question.... If every kid at that tournament gets slammed like that every match, every period, all day long, then thats thousands of times a day right, on that particular slam?.................. if thats legal every time, right, as you see it? Cause if you say yes, then over the course of the day, theres gonna be lots of concussions, and lots of kids getting carried out of there on stretchers......Try good judgement NEWBEE,... thats what good refs have to do
  6. Are there 5 top 100 tournaments this year? I dont see Regions 4 and 2 with one on this schedule.

    Baylor

You know ,I hate how people just throw accusations on here, and rant and rave about their opinions and what they think they know. Sometimes a simple question just requires a simple answer. And you just gave it, so I hope people can move on on this subject.

    Baylor

So to be honest, Baylor never contacted you before or right after yours sons freshman state championship? You went and contacted them?

    Baylor

BCB did what most of you guys should do, and that is retire from this board when your kids graduate and are grown! lol. But seriously, All teams in TN can compete in individual duals and such against all these Nationally ranked prep schools right?

    Baylor

Im a little confused, Didnt one or a few of our teams travel to Florida to compete in a national level duals against Brandon and other top teams a couple of years ago? Even Christian Brothers goes to Hawaii every now and then. In fact, they are always traveling out of state. So help me understand... is it because these out of state tournys are not considered National Invitationals so they can participate in them?
  11. didnt Demetrius Johnson take 2nd a few years ago?
  12. Like most schools. Coaches have to "fill" a position in their own schools they "normally" teach at. No wonder they had a split years ago. On another note you guys on here maybe need to spend more time with your wifes and not focus on these kids so much. Find a hobby with your loved ones lol just saying
  13. thanks for the info but the only results I see are from the elementary duals and not the middle school duals. Are they on the same site?
  14. any results from this tournament? thanks

    PIZZA HUT

Guys, I have been seeing a bunch of these Pizza Hut Ads here on this site, but I keep calling them and they are telling me that there is no $10 special. Whats going on!????? Is it an April Fools thing?
  16. The new Region 5 is made up of Memphis, Clarksville, Dickson and the Williamson Co. teams which are the strong Brentwood and Franklin area squads. As well as Cheateam Co. So its a broad spectrum of teams that stretch from the top of the state to the bottom. All with big populations and good wrestlers coming from them.
  17. Not sure if Mr. Moon is crying or not, but I do know that His Clarksville Team had to travel over 4 and a half hours to compete in their Region tourny. So that sucks! lol I also think that the middle TN participation at the regionals in Memphis this year was only about 100 out of the 235 competitors there so I dont think that alot of the old region 4 clubs kids traveled to their new region tourny this time around. It does stink that Memphis does have to travel so much but I think that most of the kids down there really do not do much AAU wrestling in middle tn throughout the season anyway but most all did show up for the regionals down there this year. The Memphis area kids are some great wrestlers with excellent coaches! I can say that for sure.
  18. Since you already have the mats down, and you dont want to run into the baseball season, why not do Tot, Bantam, and Midget on Saturday and Junior and Middle School on Sunday, maybe with the K-5 Elementary Duals as well.

    Next Year?

John Heath is coaching the Murfreesboro Elite squad in the same Sharpshooters building. The coaching hasnt changed at all as Coach Heath has always been Bill Kennedys #2 at the helm of the dominate Sharpshooters back in day. He coached the K-4 kids and prepared them for Bill for many years. Great Coach and friend.
  20. you can contact Coach Wes Smith at 615-715-9170... sign-ups are now avalible on track wrestling web site as well. There is no flyer on tnyouthwrestling web site as of now but should be soon. It is middle school open folder round robin format with more mat time for the wrestlers.
