  1. Hendersonville Generals Wrestling Club will be hosting the middle school tournament on the same day as Tullahomas tournament.
  2. Its funny, the shoulders or scapula are considered the supporting parts and not the feet if the defensive wrestler is out of bounds..... thats because RULE 5. SECTION 15. ART 2 states..... supporting points are the PARTS OF THE BODY TOUCHING, OR WITHIN, THE WRESTLING AREA WHICH BEAR THE WRESTLERS WEIGHT....notice it says "BEAR THE WRESTLERS WEIGHT".....which would mean most of the weight is on the wrestlers shoulders (or mid-area) while on the ground.... if they were standing, their FEET would be the supporting parts because of this rule with most all of the wrestlers weight BEARING ON THE FEET.... But strange that when the offensive wrestler takes a guy down out of bounds, it is his FEET that are the SUPPORTING POINTS while on the ground when it should be his KNEES, THIGHS, OR BUTTOCKS as stated in RULE 5, SECTION 15, ART 2a...... WHEN DOWN ON THE MAT, THE USUAL POINTS OF SUPPORT ARE: 1.KNEES 2.THE SIDE OF THE THIGH, 3. THE BUTTOCKS. clearly the weight of the offensive wrestler is not on his feet while laying down. just an observation...........
  3. ONEBLINDREF, you might as well just cut the defensive mans feet off because in this situation both of these boys were completely out of bounds from the monster bridge-out. And two refs missed it. It wasnt even close. I too would have missed it, but 2 TSSAA referees? Come on ONEBLINDREF... admit it.... they missed it....
  4. sorry tnsmokediver, not knowing that you were a ref, Im sure that you already knew that section of the rulebook, but somehow it still seems gray to many coaches when quoting that rule in the book to them by the table. maybe the more correct quote would be... "if reffing wrestling were easy...MORE people would be doing it"....because not all can. It really isnt an easy job.
  5. Actually TNSMOKEDIVER, even though the RuleBook isnt 100% spoken word on a defensive pin, RULE 5, SECTION 11, ART 1 states......A fall occurs when any part of both shoulder of scapula of EITHER WRESTLER are in contact with the mat for two seconds....... it does not quote DEFENSIVE ONLY but EITHER WRESTLER. Also, Coaches question alot, and think they know alot, but 99% of them have neither read the rule book or reffed before. And if you ask them to come to the seminars to do so they want no part of it. You have to have tough skin, be in good shape, and read your rules and case books throughly a few times a season to be a competent wrestling referee. Wrestling is by far the hardest sport to ref! Im sure the two referees that reffed that match, if they get wind of this forum, will watch the video, and learn from it. If officiating this sport were easy, everyone would do it.
  6. while ONEBLINDREF references the casebook I believe, and not the NFHS rulebook, I regretfully am wrong as is ONEBLINDREF. The RULEBOOK states.... RULE 5, SECTION 15, ART 2b, ...... When the defensive wrestler is on his back while the supporting parts of either wrestler are inbounds, wrestling shall continue as long as there is a possibility of the offensive wrestler bringing the opponent back into the inbounds area. IN THIS SITUATION, ANY PART OF A DEFENSIVE WRESTLERS SHOULDER OR SCAPULA IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE SUPPORTING PARTS. So if the offensive wrestler is out of bounds, and he clearly was, and the rule says above the defensive wrestlers supporting parts while on his back is his shoulder or scapula, are out of bounds as well, it is considered OUT OF BOUNDS. I ref and I was wrong.... but you learn something new everyday.
