Not a totally bad week.   I just feel as though I needed another excellent week like the last one to put some real pressure on.   But with @harley04 catching Dear Leader @3rdandLong,  it allows the peloton, (those just a few back) to have a little more hope.  The leader can't just ride the "favorites" and coast to the finish line now.  @pujo is closing in fast.  He looks to be playing the ole "shake and bake" slingshot strategy.  Looks like @dogtruth ran short on kibbles n bits and a couple of his dogs just up an ran away.  @oneyewilly making his presence known into the top 10.

Let's delve in and see what happened.

    Week 8 results:

    W - L:  10-3

Dawgs:  1-1 (Bearden - Stone Memorial)

    Games <8:    2-2

    Rank: 7

    GB: 5

Analysis:  Like I said, not bad, although not good enough, I'll take it.

Dropped from 6th to 7th but picked up a game on the leader.

18 games in which to pick this week.  Let's hope none get moved up to Thursday.   Good luck pickers.

    Another tough week this week!

Yes sir I agree with this.

I would add McKenzie to the list.  Just because they beat Huntingdon.  I know they were drubbed by Dresden but sometimes teams have a huge letdown after a big win.

They could actually host the semifinals.  If they could go into Lynchburg and pull the upset.

Yes McKenzie would be my dark horse. They are well coached and have been there the last two years. They have some experience the others don't. I just think the other 4 are the front runners at this point.

    1 Mase

    2 South Pittsburg

    3 Dresden

4-10 doesn’t matter! One of those 3 will be your State Champion!!

Add Union City and Moore County to that list. MASE, UC, Moore County, and Dresden all have a shot on the west side. I know you are high on MASE but honestly watching them last season and seeing the amount of athletes they had I'm not convinced they beat any of the other 4 this year.

I’m sure this is not a popular opinion but I would like to see us mix in the wing-t from under center. You talk about a defense having to be laser focused..you go from worrying about spread weapons to playing gap assignment football and one crease equals paydirt.

I would love to see the wing t.  For some reason we can't get any rhythm going in the spread. Wing t worked for many years

North Jackson must not be good to be getting beat 62-0 by a 1a school doesn't matter how you good you are at that size a 4a school losing that badly they aren't good, Franklin county is awful they lost to east Hamilton,  and sequatchie County is  decent  it's not super hard to be ranked 7 in 3a. Pretty much anything below the 5 point usually are more mediocre teams, bigger doesn't always mean better.  I was just saying teams I'd like to see south pittsburg  matchup with in the future. I know north jackson is usually better, just felt like maybe people would be interested in seeing sp play new teams that are more their speed again that's a compliment to the team.

Tried to schedule a power house school from west TN but they declined.  Franklin Co 5a, Sequatchie co 3a, North Jackson 4a, MTCS #1 ranked team in DII A, Oliver springs was supposed to have a decent team this year and it could've gave us a decent comparison or even potentially meet them in the semis.  What hurts is we have one of the weakest regions in the state.  I do agree and hope we do schedule even tougher opponents but there is a fine line. The Oakland type teams don't benefit us anymore than lookout valley. I am all for playing the best but you also want the kids to learn and progress as a team.

From the looks of it SP doesn’t play any competition the whole year being on the east side of state. No wonder why they cake walk to finals every year. Which begs me to ask are they really that good year in and year out or are the rest of the teams just that bad?

It's pure luck. Honestly I hope we get a first down this week.  Maybe MTCS will feel sorry for us and let us score.

MTCS looks like a solid team but our speed will take over.

Depends on how many yellow flags we accumulate.  Honestly, if we execute on offense I think we can get the win but if we can't line up correctly and have 150 yards in penalties it may be a long night. MTCS is very disciplined and are very good up front.  This game should give us a much better idea of where we are.
