  1. Jeff will be solid this year and have at least 3 very good starters. That should be enough with their hitting.
  2. I for one was picking Oglesby maybe the greatest athlete to come out of Jeff County...too bad he left.
  3. Thanks for the followup. Basile has all the skills to make it at the next level and the complete game. He is also the best baseball player prospect I have seen in a long time next to Bowlin and Crouch from Jeff County in the past years. He has the unique combination of speed, great fielder and power. Looking forward to Maples playing for UT next year from what I hear he may start? special teams and then receiver in the future? If you guys lose today I will see you in JC or Kingsport. Good luck against Powell and from what I hear you will need alot of it Sounds like you squeked by Bearden?
  4. Good idea If we cant go at least let us get behind the local guys. My team has been off for a few years so have been doing just that.
  5. Sylvester from DB is one of the best sophmores in the state. He was responsible for DB beating Greeneville in large part. He may lead them to the state very soon
  6. Hey Reb How is Basile doing? Have not heard alot about him but he was a dominant player as a soph in the IMAC. Kind of a cross between a Lofton and Bradshaw type player. Also is Maples as good on the hard court as he is on the football field (phenom)? Not sure you guys will match up that well with the big boys from DB and SH but it should be interesting. Greeneville should have made it . What a freaky thing that was to lose to DB. Good luck and sounds like coaching will make the big difference from here on out.
  7. I would take SH and DB probably expended to much energy beating Greeneville. Both should easily beat the teams down south. And I think the team to beat is going to be Bradley Central now that Greeneville is gone.
  8. I find it hard to believe DB beat Greeneville. It may be hard to beat SH after that? Good luck to the Tribe
  9. I take the Hill by at least 5 and they probably will face the loser Maryville
  10. I was able to see Greeneville play three times this year. No one has come close in my estimation. They deserve their number one ranking! Ask some teams that they played more than once like Jeff County or Cherokee.
  11. No one will touch Greeneville this year. They win state this time.
  12. Oak Ridge Halls Powell William Blount Oak Ridge and Halls to advance or William Blount as an upsetter
  13. This year they will have to contend with Greeneville from the Big East
  14. The only way they meet again is in the stands watching a game. I doubt Maryville will get past Oak Ridge and Farragut will have all they wanted in Powell. Then one of them has to get past Halls...not likely...a much stronger district is 3AAA
  15. Its possible just not very probable DB is really not that good. I look for Greeneville and the other to be an upset to advance from the region. Who knows it could be one of the Moristown teams or Cherokee
  16. Eldridge of Maryville pulled the best coaching move of all time tonight when he played both Reynolds and Douglas. That appears to be a winning combination with their outstanding shooting guards. I think he has found the winning combination and they should be tough if they can get past Oak Ridge. Not an easy task. Hats off to Eldridge and the Rebels, but it is a long road ahead. William Blount is in good position and should give Halls all they want. Farragut can still go all the way. Reynolds is the real deal!
  17. Any still available? Where will they all go of the prospects? Did Wiggins sign anywhere?
  18. No William Blount is that good. They just beat Oak Ridge a day or two before. William Blount is way under-rated.
  19. Barb you spoke to soon. Did you see the Greeneville game?
  20. Not just Jeff but the entire IMAC minus Greeneville. Think of the great athletes who left the IMAC to play elsewhere. I know of two or more who would be starting for Jeff now but their parents moved. One of them just signed D1. It all starts with the principals and their support of the program. Next you need to find the right coach who will develop the talent from the middle schools on up. I can think of 4 athletes today who left the IMAC and are D1 prospects in multiple sports. You are right Jeff should be on a par with DB and SH in all sports based on size alone.
  21. DB could potentially be the best team in the state if their pitching comes through. Their pitching rotation I hear may be a little suspect? How have they done in the preseason?
  22. I doubt Jeff County will be operating under the radar this year. They should easily compete with all the teams you mentioned. The juniors and sophmores will need to step up and play well. Greeneville,MoWest and East will always be strong and should be very competitive outside the region.
  23. Tommy Pharr by far! He should be coaching in college and D1 at that. Look at all the players he has developed over the years..................
  24. You missed one how about Jeff County? Agree with the other three plus probably SH
  25. Sounds to me like Kent Basile should pack his bags and return to the IMAC where he was appreciated. He was probably the best all around player in the IMAC as a sophomore. Sounds to me like he is experiencing politics and jealousy in Maryville. And his baseball skill are second to none. Been around baseball all my life and I have never seen anyone with as much talent as he has. Hey, Kent if you happen to read this , Jeff County would love to have you as I am sure would Mo East. Unfortunately jealousy goes with the territory, but at least you will be appreciated.
