  1. Yes, I heard that he was for sure offered the job
  2. I'm disappointed that Ron Gray turned down the job, but I am sure he had his reasons. I would have been a big Red Devil fan for sure then.
  3. I'm sorry to hear you feel that way, but I have worked closely with Ron Gray and I can say that he is one of the finest men I have known. He was nothing but kind and open and welcoming, and that is how I have seen him treat every player. He's smart and a heck of a football coach, too.
  4. What's the scoop? Has to be his decision, since he's done so well. Whatever it is, I hope they give the job to Ron Gray
  5. MF is Maurice Fitzgerald, Hillsboro Head Coach. BA is Brentwood Academy, where Fitzgerald might be headed. HB is Hillsboro. AB is Anthony Brown, current Hillsboro (and former Maplewood) Defensive Coordinator.
  6. Hillsboro was closer than people think last year, and if Fitz stays, they might get hot and make a run to Cookeville. Not sure who would take over if he leaves. Liggin maybe?
  7. The block was a clean block, and it was a bad call. However, the officials missed MULTIPLE charges on Levy earlier in the game that would have changed things dramatically. Not a fan of either side, it was a great game.
  8. Fair enough. I figured it might have something to do with his son going to BA, but who knows
  9. Where would Fitzgerald go, and why would he leave?
  10. SX, sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'm glad that GovMan was able to give more details. I moved a few years ago and sadly don't get to catch as many games as I'd like to. I rely on The Daily Times and my Dad's updates for the most part
  11. Big sweep for WB over Maryville! Congrats to the Govs
  12. Thank you for the schedules, girls and boys both. It’s hard to find stuff like this and I would like to catch a couple games. I appreciate the updates. Merry Christmas, RW
  13. In all honesty, I think GQ would be a GREAT candidate for the ETSU head coaching position. Maybe I'm biased, or too simple-minded, but I have worked with a lot of people in the sport and never seen a better football mind or leader than George Quarles. If I was the one making the decision, I'd have made him UT's coach.
  14. Kinda like they did this year? I could be completely wrong, it's happened before MANY times. I actually love a ton of teams from West TN and consider myself a supporter of them. HS football is like everything else though, it comes and goes in cycles. The East wasn't great in 2016 and the West killed it, for example. From my observations on what everyone returns, it looks to be another strong year for East and Middle TN.
  15. Thank you, RW! It was certainly a well-deserved promotion. GQ will be a head coach soon and a great one, too.
  16. I'm out of the loop and had no luck Googling it. What exactly does the promotion entail?
  17. The Govs host West this Friday in the next District match-up...no game tonight, unless there's a make-up that I'm not aware of
  18. That is disappointing, because everyone knows that's not true. Maryville was the better team that night (and the better team period, I would argue) and won fair and square. Hopefully most of the WB faithful and Blount County fans in general were happy to see the Rebels, Tornadoes and Cherokees take home a trifecta of gold balls. I know that I was.
  19. Happy retirement to Coach David Ellis. Great coach and even better man. I'm glad that he got to go out with another state championship. Whenever I see those Brach's Pumpkin candies around Halloween, they remind me of him, because he'd always carry them around and share them with everyone. Best of luck, Coach!! He's done a lot of good for a lot of young men and deserves all the praise in the world.
  20. Did you happen to catch any info? I didn't get a chance to hear that and I'd love the insight
  21. I know that last year, Northwest dominated the Girls Wrestling state meet, while Bearden, William Blount, Rossview, Sycamore, and Hardin Valley had strong teams as well. There is NO coverage or publicity around Girls Wrestling that I can find, which is a little discouraging. Does anyone know what teams are strong this year and have a shot at the title?
  22. You guys gave Bearden a heck of a game. That's impressive, because they'll be hard to handle this season. That's a nice sign for the Blue Raiders
  23. This may not be a popular opinion, but I do not believe that Trezevant's titles should be vacated. From what I can tell, the grade changing only had an impact on future NCAA eligibility, and not TSSAA eligibility. As long as all of the participants on the squads were truly TSSAA eligible (and the report reads as if this is true), then their bases should be covered in that regard. That doesn't make it right, but it doesn't invalidate their championships.
  24. S4L...just noticed that we have the exact same 10 teams on here, just in a different order. Swear I didn't copy, lol
  25. 1. Brentwood Academy 2. Maryville 3. Oakland 4. MBA 5. Knoxville Catholic 6. Greeneville 7. Lausanne 8. Alcoa 9. McCallie 10. Brentwood
