  1. Believe it or not he also won a state wrestling title in middle school in his 1st year wrestling. As a Freshman he was a 174 pounder.
  2. That's why I recruited a ton of football players for our wrestling team. I mentioned in the Wrestling Mat thread, a bunch of our wrestlers were in Cookeville and every year we get a late start. #don'tstopdeceiving #belowaverage
  3. What's up buddy, how was your Christmas? Are  you guys planning on going to the Top 100 tournament in Chattanooga?

We should be, but I won't have that many going to that one. There's another Beginner tournament closer to home where most of mine will be going as opposed to Chattanooga.

  4. Clemson (5) A. Rogers (Catholic), T. Higgins (Oak Ridge) M. Jones (IMG), K. Patterson (CPA) J. Herbstreit (MBA) Ohio State (4) M. Teague (Blackman), M. Rossi (Franklin) M. Wray (Franklin), C. Hamilton (Whitehaven) LSU (3) J. Stevens (Oakland), J. Phillips (East Nashville) M. Hampton (MUS) Oklahoma (2) W. Washington (Oakland), S. Jones (FRA) Needless to say that Tennessee's representing quite well considering none of these programs are within the state and only one of them are in the SEC.
  5. In the spirit of holidays Brian, I want to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas. Maybe someday we can grab a beer, I'm buying.

For sure! We're both passionate about about the samething. High School Football. Should be fun talking about how Blount County Owned Cookeville for one weekend!

Likewise, I wish you, and your family a great Christmas and a great new year!

  6. Pretty small sample size from a small mind. Yeah, I'll be the 1st to admit we've been down the last few years after the patriarch of the program retired which left a major hole. We had to restart everything since then (ES,MS,HS). Most "real" coaches who've been around the sport for awhile know that though and see where the program's currently headed, but I certainly wouldn't expect you to. So if that means by your standards we're below average, I'll take it.
  7. You're awfully quiet these days.

Merry Christmas to you and yours

  8. You wouldn't know as usual, while 99.9% of teams are hitting their early season stride a large chunk of our team is usually playing for gold trophies. Name one program that has that problem. It's okay though, now that they're back we'll be just fine.
  9. I guess their whole team if you don't think PF belongs in the Top 10. They deserve to be there now and down the road when they're full strength.
  10. I know talent and good wrestlers when I see it, obviously you don't.
  11. I wouldn't say we're below average, but if you don't think they're top 10 I have to question your wrestling IQ.
  12. I saw Pigeon Forge tonight against our team, they deserve to be in the top 10.
  13. Been there, done that while you were still in middle school. When you get older and have a family of your own your priorities change. My child is not even in the sport and I'm only focused on building one program. I'm not saying that he hasn't done anything for TN wrestling because he has done a lot, but coaching isn't part of it.
  14. Don't count out Linderman, he'll be there this year when it counts.
  15. That's why I'm on an actual staff, paid by the school system, etc.
  16. When you can't run the ball, forced to pass (especially against their D last year), then yes it affected everything. Not only that, I'd say our kids weren't ready to play that game and used that as motivation all year long to redeem themselves.
  17. MidTN, you and my other Oakland buddies know the deal. It's crazy they're arguing with an Oakland guy, but you have my respect regardless. Even Coach Harris after the game admitted to me personally we were better this year.
