Hope MC can clean up the mistakes this week and show some signs of coming into a well-oiled machine. Marion County needs to start fast in games, cut out mistakes, and play GREAT defense if we want to make a run at the gold ball again this year. If the game does start to get out of hand I look for Ross to put the young ones in fast. OP, Roy, and others, bring the whole town up with you, we won't mind the $$$$

Careful of what you say Omniscience, and others also. History tends to repeat itself. For the better part of SM young football program, it has been very competitive. If the new head ball coach can establish himself and show that he knows how to win, WATCH OUT. Parents that have kids that happened to be blessed with athletic ability, want to give thier son/daughter the best chance of getting a scholarship and a good education at the same time. The way to do that is to send them to schools such as Signal Mountain, Baylor, McCallie, CPA, Brentwood Academy, Notre Dame, and so forth. I can't tell you how many times I've seen an outstanding player come through the valley, who was as good or better as the highly touted player at a school like that who is getting covered in the paper every week and the news every Friday night, but goes unoticed because they came through the program in a down year or because they attend a small school. I could name a couple off the top of my head, that could have played and made a big time contribution to UTC or played at the D1 level. Feel like previous regimes at Marion County and Vic have failed to help some of these kids get their names out and give them a chance to earn a college education while continuing their sports career. Thats why you see MC, SP, SC, Whitwell, and other small schools lose their best talent to those schools. However, I do believe that Tyner will come out on top in this one. Hope both teams come away injury free

Dang it Old Pirate, this old geezer doesn't like to side with the bad guys on topics but it looks like this is the case. Truth is, we won't be able to replace Zeman. Couldn't do that with 5 or even 10 players. As you and I know, players like that only come along once in a blue moon. This old geezer doesn't think that we would be as versatile this year if it wasn't for Logan. That is no knock on Bryce, he did more than enough last year and could do the same if he has to step in again this year. Troll, this old geezer decided to stay in the valley Friday night. Wanted to see that scuffle between the Indians and Pirates. Sounds like you guys are going through a rough patch right now, hang in there. This old geezer doesn't think that a program like Signal Mountain will stay down long. Trust me, win and they will come. Bass, This old geezer understands the fire and passion you have for your team, I love it, but rikberry was just giving an opinion, which he/she is entitled to as we all are. Nothing really derogatory towards Vic or disrespectful. If somebody else made the comments that you did, they would be told to clean it up and get back on subject. Hey Roy, this old geezer said to tell your head ball coach to get your players to drinks lots of pickle juice before the game. Not a bad football game to watch at all. I'm not surprised by the outcome. Both fan bases should be proud of their teams tonight. SP will have a hard time against teams with size. Their recipe for success will be to get those fast boys on the edge early and often. No question the team has heart though. As for SC, congrats to your HC on the win. Even if SP isn't at top caliber its still hard to come by victories at that stadium.

Bass, this old geezer doesn't have another screen name. I get posting fever every once in a while, but for the majority I stay quiet. If some old geezer talks about football back in the day, then I'll chime in. Yeah at the beginning of the year I like to make a couple of post to get under the orange and black fellers skin, but its all in fun and games. When it comes down to it, I don't mind seeing SP win except for one game out of the year. I've said it before on here, I have had youngunz play for the Pirates and for the Warriors. My heart and loyalty is with Marion County. Just curious to know who you thought this old geezer was?

If SP has speed then there best bet is to get to those sidelines. When they have their typical athlete a lot of 1A teams are not going to be able to match the speed.This old geezer hasn't watched a lot of the Pirates games over the last 3 or 4 years. So take what I say with a grain of salt

Vic's strategy for winning this year will be the same as it has always been, toss left and toss right for 40 times a game, mix in the misdirection once or twice a game when the backers are getting undisciplined and that equals a win. This old geezer says if it ain't broke don't fix it. SP out runs the injuns on Friday night.
