  1. I think this will be closer than 2 scores. To this point, Beech has lived dangerously by putting the ball on the ground. I think Hendersonville could take advantage of the opportunity if presented. I still expect Beech to win but I'll say 24-21
  2. Cookeville has a bad loss to Upperman. Hasn't played a 6A opponent yet. Lebanon has a bad loss to Wilson Central and a win over hapless Antioch. I say neither team is very good. I guess someone has to win so I'll say Lebanon 21-17.
  3. I'll take Beech in this one. But, I don't think it will be very lopsided. Sounds like Beech has some things to improve in the high-powered offense. Henry Co is better than they appeared in week 1. I'll take Beech 21-14 in an old fashioned brawl.
  4. So, how do you feel about these teams. Is Westmoreland better than usual? Is Portland the same as usual?
  5. I agree. That is a great win and a great start to getting the program where you want it to go. Blackman may indeed be very good, and needs to be in that league.
  6. Thought Portland would roll in this one. They did get the win. Maybe I put too much stock in scrimmage results. However, It looks like the teams they scrimmaged all lost in week one. Is Westmoreland better than anticipated or is Portland below average for a 5A team?
  7. Congrats to MJ. Sounds like they played well. May indeed be a threat to make serious noise in 5A. They'll be back in 6A in the next cycle. Lots of emotions from the fans of these two teams. I wouldn't throw Gallatin under the bus yet and I wouldn't get on the Blackman band wagon yet. Most people say the most improvement is between week 1 and 2. I think we will have a better idea about both teams after this week. I remember Miss. State getting a huge win last year in the first week over LSU, and then they struggled for the remainder of the season. Blackman has a really tough schedule for the first 6 weeks or so. Gallatin's schedule is favorable for weeks 3-4. So Gallatin starts no worse than 2-2. Blackman may end up 1-5 or 2-4.
  8. Not much talk on this thread. Has this rivalry lost its luster or are both sides being cautious with their optimism? No one willing to step out and make a bold prediction about the outcome?
  9. Sumner Co. 1-2-3 Montgomery Co. 4-5-6
  10. Coach Dyer is a great coach. His teams play hard and are well schooled in the game of basketball. Good Luck. Taking over a consolidated school is very different from taking over a new school. I would think the talent level should be solid.
  11. Green Hill should be 2-1. You can't finish 2nd in the tournament if you only win one game
  12. Beech, Gallatin, Station Camp should finish 1-2-3 in some order. Hendersonville, McGavock, and Hunters Lane fighting for the final (4th) spot to make it to the region.

    10 AAAA

Not a lot to predict yet. This district will include Beech, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Hunters Lane, McGavock, and Station Camp. However, I did see where Coach Anthony Sewell at Hunters Lane has stepped down. Who might be next in line at Hunters Lane?
  14. 9AAA as it has been, will no longer exist. Team from this league will be split. 9AAAA will include Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Green Hill, Wilson Central, and Cookeville. 10AAAA will include Beech, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Hunters Lane, McGavock, and Station Camp. These two AAAA districts will now face off in the Region 5AAAA tournament. Only Portland will remain in AAA.
  15. HHS also made an appearance in the TSSAA AAA State Tournament in 2003 with Kerry West as the Head Coach. Andy Wicke was on the team with several talented players. Also a trip to the sub-state where they lost to a very good Maplewood Team I believe. Not sure what year it was. But you are correct with everything you say Mondo. Seems like someones mommy or daddy found CoachT. Welcome to the T Trusayer. Can you even name the teams in the region that HHS competes in?
  16. Actually they lost their opener on the road at SC. So they are now 1-1.
  17. I'll take Summit in this one. I'm basing that on two things. Summit has been tested and even though the HC loss to Brentwood may have been uncharacteristic, it still sends up a red flag. I do think it will be a close game. I just think Summit wins.
  18. Not familiar with Gleason except that it is a small school. Who is coaching there? Who is the player you are talking about? Do you believe that he is actually an NBA caliber player?
  19. I believe that Warren Co went 11-2 in 1980 with Jeff Womack and a host of other good players. 9-1 in the regular season losing at home in week 10 to a Father Ryan team quarterbacked by Kurt Page. I think the Final score was 9-7 or something close to that. I believe WC scored their only TD with about 2:00 to go in the game. Father Ryan scored a TD on about a 75 yard hook and lateral in the closing minutes. WC then lost on the road in the quarterfinals at Oak Ridge in a shoot out. Undoubtedly the best WC team since they opened (consolidation) in the early 70's. Though they did have several quality teams in the 70's and early 80's. The number of play-off wins by WC could probably be counted on one hand.
  20. Unfortunately, transfers of this nature happen often. Recruiting is widespread across the state at all levels, in all areas of the state. The TSSAA has no way of proving it unless the parents of the player come out and say it happened. Therefore I expect nothing to happen.
  21. I'm not sure why he left Hillwood, but I believe he is at Sycamore now.
  22. Schools do not have to allow the games to be broadcast. Most believe the publicity outweighs any potential loss of revenue. Many schools have begun to produce their own broadcast.
  23. Gallatin current enrollment is around/over 1700 hundred. Will be more next year. But, the classification cycle is only every four years. They do not meet the percentage of growth that would cause them to move up this year. When the last classification cycle was completed, Gallatin was the largest school in 5A. There will always be a largest school in each classification and a smallest school. It's just how it works. In two years they may be 6A. Who knows?
  24. Another unhappy parent. Must be the coaches fault. Lets go somewhere else. Wouldn't want to have to handle any adversity.
