  1. Look, when Ravenwood was struggling under Rietveld they said that Ravenwood had seen their best days and they would never be good again. Then they made a good hire and before you know it they win another state title. Then NHS opens and the coach leaves and Ravenwood goes 5-5 and we hear all the talk about how the program "will never be good again." Read the projected student population for a few years down the road and we regain the lost students relatively quickly. This topic is about Ravenwood. Will Nolensville be good? Of course. But that is completely independent from what happens at Ravenwood. When RHS opened they said Brentwood "would never be good again." They were also looking for a new coach around this time. Someone didn't tell Ron Crawford about what BHS was "supposed" to do. Look at them over the last decade. With the right coach Ravenwood will compete for state titles alongside our neighbors to the east and west in the toughest football region in the state.
  2. Ravenwood will be back at the 2000 student mark in 4-5 years with all the growth in the area and will pick up right where it left off. Nolensville has a good rising jr class, but once it's gone in a few years and they have to move up a classification, the people who bolted Ravenwood are gonna be scratching their heads on why they left. Just look at the feeder programs, Nolensville heavily emphasizes that aspect but Ravenwood's freshman had the best season ever this past fall and Woodland Middle convincingly beat Mill Creek. Not saying Nolensville can't be good but saying Ravenwood can't be as good as they were a few years ago is just not true.
  3. There is a schedule but it hasn't been released.
  4. I believe the Ravenwood job is the best job open in the state right now because it has the best reasources and funding of any job open right now. Expectations are lower than they were a year ago and the rising sophomore class is arguably the best in school history. People point to the principal as a black mark but I don't think that's a fair accusation, after all she is the one who hired both Rector and Hester. During the last coaching search I kept hearing "the new coach will have to teach" that's totally false. They get paid to teach but only monitor in school suspension all day while doing film on the laptop. Overall this is a Great gig, don't know exactly who is on the shortlist but we'll find out soon enough.
  5. Please use the thread on the 5A/6A forum instead I started this one by mistake. http://www.coacht.com/boards/index.php/topic/249948-ravenwood-opening/
  6. Richie Wessman has left to coach the Roma Grizzlies in Rome, Italy. They are a semipro American football team.
  7. Richie Wessman has left to take a head coaching job in Rome, Italy
  8. I am from Ravenwood and I plan on being at Ray Hughs Stadium tomorrow night. Of course, we wish we were traveling to Da Haven tomorrow but that's not how the chips fell I guess. This season and probably next were/are rebuilding years. But the Raptor Freshman had their greatest season ever this year (better than both the freshmen classes that went to state as seinors) and I expect Ravenwood to be back in Cookeville in 3-4 years. I truly have appreciated the kind words that Maryville fans said about the Raptor program over the past two years. The three posts immediately before this one reflect exactly that. The Rebels run an amazing and classy program that is the gold standard. Tomorrow night, I would love to witness "the streak" continue, and that is what I expect to happen. The Rebs discipline will ultimately be the deciding factor tomorrow night in a game that may go down to the wire.
  9. Will be closer than most people think.
  10. Wouldn't be playoff football without BHS predicting the Raptors to lose... 24-14 55-35 20-13 26-17 45-14
  11. I love this Ravenwood team. They always find a new way to impress me. People, this team is clicking. Take notice. #G2BARR
  12. They had an all-state player a few years back who transferred to Montverde Acadamy in 2013.
  13. Cal Preps says Ravenwood but without common opponents it's tough to tell for sure. Hopefully the Raptors begin to gel at the right time.
  14. Ravenwood improving. Will know direction of the team for sure after Wilson Central next week. But the focus will remain on Overton until they are taken care of. 20-10 Ravenwood tonight.
  15. For all you Hendersonville fans discussing Lassiter with mixed emotions, just know that as a Ravenwood Raptor right now, I know exactly how you feel. Someone mentioned that their highlight at HHS was beating Lassiter twice in one year. The Ravenwood Freshman look good and will have the opertunity to do something similar in the next few years as they rise in the class ranks.
  16. Ravenwood is not a "mediocre to sub par team" and I explained why in an earlier post. MJ fans need to give themselves more respect, they are gonna win a lot of games in the region this year.
  17. Mount Juliet is good and will be fine. People are seem to ignore the fact that Ravenwood is being underestimated this season. I would love to have the Brentwood game back, but I wanted the Centennial game back last year and look what happened afterwards. Defense played lights out tonight. Offense may have some rust to shake off, but that's ok. The o line is experienced and the receiving core is DEEP. Any problems that exist have until December to be fixed. There may be a lot of new faces this year, but I wouldn't bet against this team.
  18. Would love for Nolensville to have some humble pie tonight. After Ravenwood beats Mount Juliet I'll check the Twitter for this game's score. Hornets win big tonight.
  19. What I mean is that both teams are run-first. Rodney Murrey is a back who Siegal will rely upon for chunks of yardage every play. The Stars use him like I've seen many wing-t teams use their bread and butter.
  20. Siegal is better than last year. This will be one of those weeks in practice where the coach will not have to hold up play cards for the scout team. Both are similar offensively.
  21. If you take away the mental errors last night then it would've been a 2-3 score game, which would have been about the point spread against Siegal last year. I know the stars lost a lot of offensive firepower to graduation but they returned 3/5 of the oline and they are better on defense than last year. I know jamborees shouldn't be taken to heart, but each of the past two years the stars beat Summit by the same amount and Summit is MUCH improved from last year. Last night wasn't perfect but miscues will be fixed and more games will be won.
