  1. All the points are being scored on the mountain. North 6 Chucky Doak 0 here at halftime.
  2. GC fans have been saying they are airing the ball out more than in previous years. I know it doesn't take a lot to say that but with an inexperienced secondary... To be real about it I don't think their defense will stop our first team O a single time. Out of respect for GC I'll say SS by 21.
  3. Hampton probably too low. North probably too high. Yes, North has beat a couple 4A teams but they are not very good and North has not come close to a comfortable win yet. Not statewide top 10 material yet. Hope they prove me wrong.
  4. I heard the big kid was a freshman. Not sure if that is true or not. The youth leagues and Holston seem to be very well run in the Central area.
  5. They told me today that they did not expect to have any standing room tickets left after the pep rally on Wednesday night.
  6. I heard that North has got at least one quality transfer playing this year that came from D-B. If it is the guy I am thinking about he is a difference maker. Don't know if they have what it takes to give Hampton a game but the 2-platoon system I saw them use at Central and the improvement from last year could make that an interesting matchup.
  7. I think they are still on probation from the last on-field melee so hopefully they will behave.
  8. I'm not advocating this but I think you could probably put Hampton and Cloudland together and still stand a pretty good chance of staying within the 2A football classification.
  9. Talking to myself here but since all you Carter county guys have talked a lot about the coverage of the county schools in the papers over there I thought I'd give you one from over here. Opened the Kingsport times-news this morning to read about this comeback and there was NO mention if it in the whole paper other than the 35-21 score mentioned in the summary column. Heard that the times-news only had 2 reporters to cover Friday night football and that they depend upon coaches to send in the summaries upon which all other stories are based upon.
  10. I guess the best way to put it is that there is a bit of a "tier" system. Oak Ridge, Maryville, Sevier County, and a few others would be top tier away games that would merit the large expense of paying for the whole band to travel. It also depends upon what non-football trips have been planned. We'll see where WB stands.
  11. Regular season games or playoffs? Different rules apply.
  12. Wasn't there but heard North discovered the forward pass in the 4th quarter last night to beat Volunteer 35-21. Down 21-7 going into the quarter but didn't quit.
  13. You'll probably have to wait till next year. Do you realize how much it costs to transport 400 kids that far? Tribe by +21
  14. Just passed two big tour busses next to Eastman. Possible Wildcat sighting in Northeast Tennessee.
  15. That's just the deal Cap. You'll see the spirit flags tonight and they have been using those for about 5 years. Still dozens of the others on private vehicles in the parking lot though.
  16. Uh, yeah, all the Kingsport people who went down to a mud hole during the war effort to build Oak Ridge. Who's your daddy! Good luck to both. Excited to see this series start back up!
  17. That's one of the most foolish statements I've ever seen on the T - and I'm not a band parent. Football Friday nights are fun for the bands but it is far from being the central focus of their existence.
  18. This is one of the most impressive stats to me for a D-B team. Discipline like this has almost been unheard of for the Indians and if they can keep it up consistently will serve them very well.
  19. Too late unless many OR fans are traveling on that same schedule. Upper deck seats will be available on the home side for $20 each unless the price has gone down from last year.
  20. THS either 28-14 or 35-21. Margin depends upon how good THS passing attack is. South's 1st string defense has stuffed the run pretty good so far in the 3 times I have seen them against other teams so far this year. They have a young secondary. Saw some pretty good pass defense plays against Boone but a few breakdowns as well which is where Boone got most of their yards. If THS passing game is not good then this could be closer than many think.
  21. North had about 560 last year. They would have been in 2A football the last few years with a 400 population. Including middle school they had somewhere around 850. So do you think if North and South still had 1100+ high school students each the county would still be talking about consolidating and building new high schools? Almost all of that drop in population (especially for North) was due to annexation. Fully half or more of North's territory was annexed. A large portion of South's territory was also recently annexed (by ordinance, not by vote). North is getting to be unsustainable and they have had to make all sorts of cuts in programs because they no longer have the population. These facilities are not needing to be replaced, in fact all are planned to be reused or sold to the city. And as far as achievement I believe South has had the highest average ACT scores this side of Nashville or close to that the last 2 years in a row. There have been some demographic changes in these areas (aging population) but annexation is the primary factor on the west side of the county. There are also some aging elementary and middle schools that are a factor. I guarantee you there are more city students going to county schools than the other way around. D-B could not handle the influx if all the city students at North and South suddenly were forced out of the county schools.
  22. Just a question to throw out. Not trying to hijack the thread. Heard some at D-B saying that the new Topper transfer would have to play JV this year. Any truth to that?
  23. What broke the Sullivan county school system was annexation by the city of Kingsport.
