This will be a war. MTCS has played Webb four times this year so they aren’t scared of anybody. TCA played in Tampa against 7A schools who had D1 talent so they won’t be intimidated either. Both teams have multiple players who are very skilled. Definitely two of the top 4 or 5 teams in the state in D2A. Going to be a close one. Lady Lions by 5!

Jabari Greer from Jackson Southside has a Super Bowl ring and Artis Hick from JCM played in the Super Bowl. Not sure if Hicks got a ring or not? 7 total players from Jackson have played in Super Bowl.

Great to hear from you trader! Yes, 19 average win per season is pretty strong when you consider the down years. As a former Bobcat player from 80-84, I saw Jerry in action and have also coached against him. As a player, he helped me one year when I had a little hitch in my shot. Boys coach didnt catch it but Jerry did and he helped me correct it. That’s a small example of how he has coached well over the years. I’ve experienced what it takes to win a Gold Ball as we won in 2020. You have to have all the pieces, post play, guard play and shooters. I’m not sure he’s ever really had all the pieces to win it in AA. Very few coaches ever win a Gold Ball. I think his record proves his success and respect should be given. His daughter played college ball at Lambuth so I think the negative comment on her was in poor taste. There’s always a better coach out there! Always!

Southside is the elite team in West Tn of all classes! Their posts are not huge but they are very quick, athletic and skilled. Super bunch of guards that can shoot BUT their defense is the key! They will smother you!

USJ 28 FC 14. FC hasn’t seen a defense like USJ. No weaknesses at any position. Only way USJ loses is if they have multiple turnovers. NC over JC by a couple of TD’s as well.

Pretty darn good assessment. I think JC/MTCS will be a barnburner. MTCS is very well coached but I agree the kicking game will be the difference and JC pulls it out. USJ will have a running clock in 3rd Q. TCA has a fighting chance if they can score early and just get one or two stops in first half. Odds are against them but they have the skill players to win the game. I would suspect FC rolls and makes a statement for the showdown next week against USJ. I think MTCS is the sleeper. I’ve seen them play as well as JC. I predict JC will win that one but it wouldn’t surprise me if MTCS won by a couple of TD’s.

TCA finished 7-5 and a quarterfinal game in playoff that year. JC finished 8-4 and a quarterfinal game. 18-14 was the score. Doesn’t sound much like a fluke to me! Teams appeared to be pretty even.

Yes, TCA threw one pass in the second half of that game and played their second team all of 4th Q and part of 3rd. Could have been 70-0. Not sure about 80! The thing about this USJ team that most people are not talking about is that they are strong at every single position on defense. Offense is great but the D is their strength. Their D line is very disruptive. They are strong and athletic. I would expect them to be in the Blue Cross bowl. Stroup does need to pull his starters in future blowouts to protect from fluke injuries. I get the JC game but the rest of the way they need to stay healthy.

Agree Reitz! Outstanding game on both sides. TCA was playjng with mostly freshmen and sophs so their future is really bright. I think Aville was pretty young as well. Findley was a beast and difficult for TCA to tackle. Aville didn’t have an answer for Waller at receiver. He’s an all state caliber player with his height, speed and leaping ability. Tompkins is Goldsmith 2.0! Aville fans, he’s only a freshman!

Been awhile Aville fans! Not the same without my best friend BigEdmo! He and I had a blast playing off of each other especially the Aville fans. Aville fans are a lot of fun and great people. They know how to mix it up and keep it fun and clean. TCA is really, really young and going to be really good in 23 and 24 but a lot of questions for this year. I think it will be a good game and if it comes down to kicking I think we have it covered early this year. Last years kicker turned out to be a good one but he hadn’t quite developed by the first game. Good luck to the Cards. I’ll be sitting in top right of stadium in honor of BigEdmo. Wished I could whistle like him! He could make an official cringe with that whistle! Ha

Yes. The big girl isn’t the issue for Webb in my opinion. They have Power 5 D1 guards and a host of other 6’2” type players that will probably play some level of D1. You can’t focus on one girl or the others will burn you. #1 has 19 so far and only scored 3 against TCA. They are just loaded everywhere!
