  1. I am sure there will be a bunch of folks present to say goodbye to the Hillwood Football program Friday night. With wins over Cheatham County, Hunters Lane, Montgomery Central and Glencliff over a three-year period (6 wins total), I do not see anything that leads me to believe this staff and players go out with a win, but I hope I am wrong. Great guys on the current staff but for some reason, they haven't been able to get it done. Best of luck to the Toppers on Friday night.
  2. I miss Harold Huggins... I miss the days when the box scores of all the games were in the paper Saturday morning. I guess I am getting old.
  3. Who were the 8 schools in Metro that fielded a 9th grade football team (BA and MBA don't count)? How about telling us everyone's record and who they played? This will give these kids and their parents some acknowledgment. We know we are not going to see it in any paper.
  4. I don't think anyone cares about 9th grade metro football on this site. How many 9th grade teams are there in metro..... 4 maybe ?
  5. I think PC wins this one since it is at home. MC could get the win if they find a way to get the ball to the sophomore WR a little more in the offensive gameplan. Should be a good game.
  6. Metro Nashville School Board changed the name to Lawson High . Allowed the community to vote but when the vote was counted, the name that won "Bellevue High" was not given consideration.
  7. "I still attend games so I'll call em how I see em. I think some folks are missing the big picture. Let's look at last year in a nut shell. What has changed from the undefeated group? They had talent last year with pretty much the same coaching staff. So what's different this year? They lost the talent but still have the same coaching staff. The reason they won it all last year is because the talent overcame the coaching. The coaching was mediocre then and hasn't changed. They are who we thought they were! Before everyone gets upset at me, save this and let's see if things are better in 2023-2025. If they are I'll gladly admit I'm wrong, but I believe this thing is going to snowball into below .500 ball. " I thought Tullahoma was well coached last year and very talented especially on the OL/DL. Haven't watched film of this years' team so i can't comment on anything current. I don't think you are looking at the big picture. They had their best season ever last year so obviously this year was going to be different. They may be under 500 this year as this is a tough, large region. I expect next years team to have better results. If suspensions are still ongoing, you need to cut this coaching staff some slack and get behind the program.
  8. Hillwood has one kid who has that height and he is a backup who just started playing ball as a Freshman last year. It takes the exact same time to drive from North Nashville to current Hillwood location as it does to drive to the new Lawson campus which is very close to the interstate exit. Perhaps next year's staff will get involved in competitive 7 on 7 in the offseason ...
  9. You are unfortunately correct about the offseason. Hillwood's best players often get poached by the more successful Metro Nashville teams. Hillwood played well and got a victory against a young Montgomery Central team earlier in the year. Perhaps this will be a competitive game Friday night in Tullahoma. Always has been a good atmosphere in T Town on Friday nights.
  10. I am not sure that Greenbrier is the third best team in the region. Creekwood almost beat Marshall County. Position 3 & 4 are certainly up for grabs.
  11. I recall possibly the best recent MJ team come in to Green Hills (Nashville) and face Hillsboro in the playoffs. The elder Perry was still the HC and they got slapped down by the mighty metro burros. The Burros would go on to win the State Championship. Don't recall MJ winning and/or getting to a title game recently although i am old and may have missed it.
  12. This game was closer than i expected. Is Creekwood that much improved from last year or did Marshall Co not play its best game? I expect Marshall Co to win the region if they can get by PC who is not as good as they were last year imo.
  13. I was told it is on its way coming from Minnesota. Hope i get it soon...
  14. Who are the worst teams in Metro and how can they improve ? I'd say CR is sitting at the top right now Does Glencliff beat the Creek this week ?
  15. PC. McG should be better this year than last. Good staff
  16. Unless things have changed, the metro schools weren't allowed to fundraise on their own for the funding to install artificial turf playing surfaces. I believe Hillsboro would have put this on their game field if allowed. There are several Hillsboro alums that would donate the money for this if allowed.
  17. Agree that East should have an artificial turf field like Hillsboro. Others should get one too. It is my belief that metro should be installing these as the main field and allowing the middle schools to use them for ballgames whenever schedule allows.
  18. The RB is a good player and should have a good season. Very well coached team. They should get one of the playoff spots this season.
  19. I think you may have left one out ... Lawson High / Hillwood
  20. Just have to look at the success at East and it is clear they are getting the best athletes in the area.
  21. Are there any quality metro QBs returning this fall? What about any D1 prospects from metro in the 2023 class?
  22. The Central job would be a better job if terms of the opportunity to win ballgames imo. The schedule for CA is brutal. If Coach John Moore isn't selected at Central, it would be a big mistake by their administration.
  23. God bless the next coach at Antioch and the Glencliff coach. They have the biggest challenge in high school coaching history imo.
  24. Wonder if this will be the first year that all the metro coaches stay put? Have i missed any that said they were moving on?
