  1. Hearing Nashville splits into East and West for 2 regions of 8. 7 region games.
  2. Power move by BA and Ensworth to threaten to play down. Force TSSAA to drop the old AAA line from 530 to 450 and pick up CPA, CCS, Webb, and LA. Give them 16 football playing schools in AAA. Makes for an easier to stomach cut line if Notre Dame is the largest AA at 396
  3. Original plan was for Ensworth, Ryan, and BA to move to the West and MBA and JP2 to swap back to the East.
  4. Baylor 38 Father Ryan 34 Baylor 36 MBA 33
  5. Embarrassing day for TSSAA and Board of Control. Split at 530 opens the door for JP2 and Briarcrest to move down (as well as BA and Ensworth). Can't imagine Knoxville Catholic moves as they would be only school in Knoxville in AAA. Oh and 530 protects Lipscomb and Webb from playing in AAA. Coincidence that Lipscomb and Webb administrators are on Board of Control. AAA will be back to the old Super 7.
  6. Clarified with TSSAA today...athletic link trumps bona fide change of residence. So athlete X has a link and even if family moves, X is ineligible at all levels.
  7. 2013 State Volleyball Tournament made $38,506 and now they're moving it to middle schools. Always have been told we could not have championships on Saturday which would allow parents to not miss work and classmates not miss school was because of MTSU. Well, no MTSU, and we still play on schooldays in the middle of the academic day. Shameful
  8. Be happy that you're at a high school. Division 2 has been relegated to Siegel Middle School!!! Shameful for the TSSAA to treat student-athletes who work hard and celebrate their success by putting them in a middle school gym. Nothing creates a state championship feel more than a 9:30 AM match in a middle school facility. And TSSAA wonders why Division 2 wants to conduct their own championships
  9. Division II voting in next few days to conduct their own championship week earlier than Division I.
  10. Full disclosure..loyal Baylor supporter..but it's hard to justify 3 players named all-state, one of whom sets the TSSAA single season record for assists, finish state runner-up, but none named to the Chattanooga Best of Preps first team. Embarrassing to the Division I coaches who showed their anti-private school voting.
  11. Sandlot, Please contact your local Board of Control representative and encourage him to put us into the classification, district, region of their choosing and we will be more than happy to participate and am confident that 10 of the 11 of us will be in the field of 32 playoffs which apparently qualify as a true playoff format especially those riveting first round playoff games for most classifications
  12. Sandlot, In your world Tennessee does not award a state champion as only 2 (5A and 6A) have over 55 members. Georgia, a pretty good high school football state, does not have a state champion as their largest classification is 70.
  13. Questions that would need to be answered: 1. If TSSAA restricts publics from playing the privates (if D2 separates) like Georgia did, how do you make schedules in sports like, basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc? Football is the easiest. 2. Similar question for those schools with middle schools who might be restricted who they can play? Many more out there, but those are the big questions out there.
  14. I'll qualify this subject that the staff of Stewart's Creek could not have been friendlier; however, TSSAA decision to have 2 courts at Stewart's Creek for the state tournament was embarrassing and potentially dangerous for the participants. It's hard to believe that the gyms at Oakland, Riverdale, Smyrna,or MTCS were not available for today. Instead we have points stopped for loose balls, spectators walking into servers, and jump servers with limited approach. Finally, we have always been told that the finals could not be played on Saturday due to the MTSU football schedule. It sure would be nice to have a championship Saturday so that friends, classmates, teachers, and working parents can attend rather than playing championships in the middle of the academic/work day.
  15. Until TSSAA separates the Division 2 finals from D1, I don't see much change in the playoff format. Even with all 11 teams in the playoffs the top 5 teams (3 East-Middle and 2 West) have a bye week 11 (first round) and then 13 days from semi-finals to finals. While a 6 team playoff might be more interesting, the additional byes would be brutal. At the end of the day, playoffs and brackets should identify the best teams and I would say for the most part that has been done in Division II-AA
