  1. Also what are the college outlooks for the QB Bunch and WR Johnson?
  2. Indy will have a tough road through the playoffs, but they are without a doubt the team to beat right now.
  3. I thought the sophomore QB played really well with such limited time. Came in and went 12 of 22 for 168 yards and a couple of touchdown passes in the 4th quarter. Also ran for a touchdown late in the game. I'll be curious to see how they handle the QB situation going forward. Both kids are good football players, but #11's ability to throw the ball could potentially open up a lot of things for the HC offense, including more holes for the two RB's.
  4. Nothing wrong with leaving it at that. I wasn't trying to sound disrespectful to Coach Gaddis. He's a truly great coach, and I strongly doubt Henry County would be where they are today without him. I just also doubt we have 2 gold balls right now if not for Coach Counce.
  5. Still waiting myself! Old Devil can be very cryptic!
  6. a smart and very respectable young man. Wish him the best
  7. Iagree this will be a tough region most of the time. Mainly the top half. The two wilco schools are usually good. HC has been good for a while now and I dont see much changing with the new coach. Looks like the rest of the staff is staying intact for the most part. And the Clarksville area usually puts out one or two decent to good teams. Dickson is a question mark. They seem to be in a slump. Dont know what kinda talent they have coming up. Just a shot in the dark right now, but heres my way too early prediction for this region 1. Centennial 2. Henry Co 3. Brentwood 4. Rossview 5. Clarksville 6. Northeast 7. Dickson Co 8. West Creek
  8. That is pretty cool...especially since it was on the road against a defending state champ. Just curious but how did you find that out? I've checked the hsfb database and can't find much of anything from before '75ish.
  9. Good luck to the Pats. I'll definitely be making the trip, but after seeing us on Friday and then Beech on Sunday, I don't have a great feeling about this one.
  10. Racer, dont forget SR linebackers Dennis Tharpe and Nathaniel Godbott. Two tremendous athletes that I would not be surprised to see playing on saturdays. SR D-lineman Griffin Wood is no slouch either. The JR class has a handful of names to look out for including the two backs you mentioned.
  11. Nice bump, fleetwoodbrohm. I second pretty much everything MSURacer said. This game, along with the 1992 semifinals against Gallatin were a couple of the most exciting/frustrating/gutwrenching battles I've ever witnessed. The fact that we came up on the losing end made them blood boilers, but man were those some great games. Also, thanks for the trip down memory lane, MSU. I had forgotten all about that Sims play against Melrose in '07 lol. One of the best defensive plays in HC football history, along with Randall Dunlap's focred fumble of Dustin McPhetridge in the 2011 championship game to clinch the state title. Man, reading/talking about all this makes me ready for August!
  12. He took the head coaching job at South Gibson.
  13. Anyone care to elaborate on the scrimmage? I wasn't able to make it. I heard it was a 3-3 tie. Varsity tied 2-2 and the youngsters tied 1-1. If so, that sounds about like HC and DC lol
  14. They have athletes, just not enough of them on the field on Friday nights, and I would imagine the coaching carousel has a lot to do with that. There is potential at that school, but things would have to change dramatically at the administrative level for them to begin reaping those benefits. I wish the best for the Clarksville schools. I really do. As a Henry County fan and a district rival, I'd love to see that city become a stronger football presence, because it's capable of great things. But, I've been singing this same tune for years, and nothing has changed. For the time being, we just look out for the occasional strong team from Northeast or Clarksville High. Outside of that, I expect mercy rules against most teams.
  15. It's usually Northeast and Clarksville followed by everybody else. Those two schools, for whatever reason (I am an outsider), have found fairly consistent success in athletics. Rossview is a good baseball school, but that's about all I can say for them at the moment. They had a decent season last year in football by their standards, but I hear they lost a lot from that team.
  16. Is the Carter kid getting any looks from colleges?
  17. Thanks for the info guys. I'd love to get a run down on the scrimmage tomorrow.
  18. How's the team looking so far? And I know QB was a position of concern. How is it shaping up there?
  19. Many people will say that to the players. Getting them to believe it is the hard part. Of course the coach isn't going to come out and say he was a bad hire, but that doesn't mean it isn't already in the back of at least several of these kids' minds, and only the coaching staff can change that perception. I wish him the best of luck.
  20. If so, then I don't see any reason why Hillsboro shouldn't keep improving unless the zones have changed and they aren't getting as much talent. That was one of the best programs in the state under Blade and Aydelotte. One has to think Clayton can get them back to competing at a high level unless things have changed drasitcally.
  21. Well said. Players need not worry about things that are out of their control. If they focus on what they CAN control, that could be the difference between a 3 or 4 win season and a 6 or 7 win season. That's much easier said than done, especially when dealing with 15-18 year old kids, but there seemed to be some positive momentum starting at JCM, and hopefully the players can build on that. I hear they have some good talent.
  22. Is the coach from Franklin still at Hillsboro?
  23. Lol that's pretty much the point. If ever a year that Milan could use a loaded and experienced team, this probably would have been it with CAK expected to take a step back and Alcoa losing over 12 starters. Compare that to the previous four years that have seen one of the greatest offenses in state history (CAK in '11 and '12) and two of the strongest all-around 3A teams ever (Alcoa in '09 and '10).
  24. I'm sure they will still make a run, but it's hard for anybody to win a gold ball after replacing that many guys.
