  1. It will be very interesting how many of these 47 teams will survive and make it to week 2. Last year I do know South-Doyle made it to the final four with a season record of 5-5. 36 of these teams are in the Public Schools and 11 are in the Privates. I guess the big surprise I saw is one team in 4A is 0-9, how did that happen. I also saw another went 1-9 and eight teams only won 2 games.
  2. I didn't expect GCA to win the last two games but very glad to see the team pull it together and I did watch both games on Diamond Clear while being at another game or watching three games at on time on the computer Friday Night. Congrats.
  3. Bearden is a much improved team than the group we played last spring in a scrimmage. I just hope our boys don't go overlook them because of that spring game. You never know how many starters may have been playing other sports at the time also.
  4. The menu for this year's Football Banquet should be what the team deserves for going to Stone Memorial and playing dead.
  5. I bet I'll have at least 6 or 7 windows open tonight on Diamond Clear watching ballgame but this one should be the best.
  6. I wonder if WB was wanting to avoid bad weather tonight or just go to Stone Memorial to cash in the cow for anything they could get out of it and come back home. That's the way it seems to me by not even scoring especially after they played so well against McMinn County 2 weeks ago. How does a team go that flat in such a short time period. It's obvious no one cared or in the worse case that should have been a good ballgame last night.
  7. Well 8 out of 9 teams that have beat Heritage this year have scored between 48 to 55 points on them and that's thanks to the Mercy Rule and some kind hearted coaches. Heritage in all reality is the equivalent of a 5-5 teams JV squad. The word at Herb's Fine Eating and Greasy Foods are some of the better football players are choosing other sports to concentrate on such as wrestling and baseball and a little war is going on out there for their services. I'm sure Mr. Hamontree is sick and tired of all of this nonsense so I would be very surprised to see him want anymore of it after tonight. It will be a very interesting winter out at Heritage.
  8. Well OR has a QB except it don't do them any good if he isn't starting. Until he got into the game it was like watching a fly banging it's head over and over trying to get out the window and the door was only three feet away.
  9. As Bob Dylan would say, Everybody must get Stoned. Unbelievable, not even a ballgame and WB definitely must have got stoned. I was hoping they would go out 4-6 so bad and give this program something to build on for next season but to completely collapse to a team that got whipped by a team you actually beat and has a schedule full of teams like Mother's Academy of Wayward Son's. All I have to say is if the leaders of Blount County are happy with this kind of garbage you need to look no further than your own nose when you start wondering why parents of some of your kids jump the fence and go to other schools.
  10. Injuries are part of the game of football but the night Oakland played Maryville they stopped us cold going up the middle until their stud linebacker that has committed to Arkansas went out in the first half. From that time forward we ran up the middle at free will. To make a long story short I don't believe Alcoa can beat Oakland. We have a great chance to play them again in the playoffs if everything works out right but it is very hard to play and win both games when two team like that play twice in a season. My first of the year prediction was Maryville to go 12-2 but I thought both losses would be against Oakland because of the returning players they had. The only negative for Oakland is the coach running a junior high offensive plan.
  11. I'll be the first to say I've been worried a lot over the future because of the smaller number of kids going out for football the past few years but instead of a negative it's actually been a positive. Just this past spring we only had two QB's out for football and a position everyone worried more about than anything but DH was able to work with them and give more attention then the regular 7 or 8 we normally have. I'm very surprised to see all the wins the JV, Freshman and Junior high have put up with the smaller squads than normal. The future looks good and with the great staff of coaches we have those kids will only get better.
  12. Don't forget the halftime show. I went over there two years ago and about choked on a chicken wing when those girls did that dance. I might have to check that out on Diamond Clear unless their lens fogs up.
  13. Alcoa just to dominant on both sides of the line. That in itself is why they are truly one the best two or three teams in the state right now across the board.
  14. You nailed it GREYRIDERx. Someone out there came up with the bright idea to play music old as the school at top volume to bust everyone's eardrums as if the band wasn't enough. Notice all the empty seats at the top near the speakers. Could you imagine what someone's hearing would be like that has season tickets out there.
  15. Today's big question, are there any good places to stop and eat if traveling down 411 and has clean restrooms.
  16. Bearden is one of those teams I would be afraid to bet on because you don't know which team is going to show up. I was very surprised when I saw this one after they knocked off Farragut. Good win for HVA.
  17. That's how I check up on you to make sure your doing your reading. Good work.
  18. Very surprised to see this one when I was checking the scores last night.
  19. Expected much worse than this and could of been. It was a good game for Maryville to play a lot of their younger players. Looks like Heritage is mostly sophomores and freshmen on the starting lineup so maybe the experience will help out for next year and the future. When a team has over twenty players quit before the season and a few after because they can't handle the heat in the kitchen it leaves the rest of the team in a horrible position. Hammontree really had no choice but to scrap everything and totally try and rebuild from the ground up again. Even though they lost last night they had a few bright spots so all isn't totally down the drain like I expected.
  20. Not surprised with the outcome last night. I went to see Bradley and Alcoa scrimmage and I remember leaving wondering is Alcoa that good or Bradley that bad. I don't have to tell you anymore to that story but Bradley has done a good job of reloading considering all the seniors on last years team. WB can still have a good season compared to the past this week if they can hang tough on the road at Stone Mountain. When you play on the road a 100 miles away and hoping for a good fair game is like trusting a fart after you have eaten at the Taco Bell and hour earlier.
  21. 62-14 would be my guess tonight and no way to prevent it if the defense and specialty teams put up 21 of it. Second option would be play the JV team only and it would end out 42-7 or the third option is playing the freshman team and that would end out 35-21. It will be very interesting who wants to apply for this job and put their coaching career on the line. It will take a younger man with a lot of patience and drive that will get out into the community and try to encourage kids that are at the schools feeding into this to come out for football.
  22. Glad to hear he is back. Bradley will be a tough game to win but wouldn't it be great to see WB go .500 with a real young team.
  23. Kingindian33 that reminds me of a game between Maryville at Clinton maybe ten years ago I went to and I had to set on the home side and after halftime 80% of the fans left. Never seen anything like it in my life. I remember catching at least five little plastic footballs the cheerleaders throw into the stands because there was no one left to throw them to. The old saying "What comes around goes around" seems to be what is happening up there to the people in charge and the true fans and players are the ones getting hurt. I really feel for you guys having to go through that because I do know you all have the players to win big.
