  1. Lol.....I would seriously doubt sportsguy22 is the AD. My guess is that the AD at Oakland is avoiding social media of all sorts. His mouth already got him in trouble once this year with the TSSAA
  2. This years team is certainly good. They have had better teams in the last few years and I feel they are very beatable by a few teams in the state but then again, it would not surprise me if they won a state title. Due to the lack of practice that they and every other team in the state has had to deal with I feel like they are a little behind in their progress for the year. One of the places that I have noticed they sometimes struggle is with a mobile QB. They have progressed throughout the year with better containment of the QB but probably not as well as Oakland would like. What is Warren County's strength? A mobile QB. I'm sure the kid will make some plays and maybe even score but if he hits the sidelines with open field, don't celebrate just yet. #7 will run him down. Kid has great size, speed and athletic ability. I have seen him do it. He has offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, etc. etc. Can't wait to see what he does as a senior next year.
  3. A dominant run in the playoffs would be 3 wins in my opinion. Highly unlikely, especially since you're sharing a bracket with Oakland.
  4. Excited to see how this one turns out. I have seen every Oakland home game played this year and this should be a good yardstick for both teams. Oakland certainly has talent and speed this year but their linemen I think lack the size they have had for the last 4-5 years. It has shown on the field to a certain degree but they have more than overcome these things. I usually have a pretty good feel for Oakland by this time but not so much this year because they simply haven't played anyone that has really challenged them. Game could go either way but I will always be pulling for the Pats.
  5. My money would be on that as well. This year ya'll get to come to Oakland if it all comes together. You never know. Home field advantage has played a big role the last few years in this rivalry though.
  6. Maybe if you keep winning you will get to play Oakland in the playoffs! Oakland don't care bout' your seniors. I think 30 MJ seniors is about the same as 15 Oakland sophomores.
  7. Agreed. I just like getting the trailer park riled up over there a little.
  8. Don't see this one as a beat down like last year but I forever hopeful. Most likely a close one as Oakland and the team over yonder usually have. Pat's by 3! Put it in the bank! Not the Savings and Loan.
  9. Agreed. I am at every home game and a few road games. I think the majority of points in those 80 pt routes were scored by 2nd and 3rd teamers. Ol Mary talkin bout our soft schedule? Pffft......yes it wasn't the hardest but neither was Murryvilles. Hopefully our little fellars don't get hurt too bad Friday night.
  10. Last game and a half Oakland has gotten into their strengths. They will give Maryville all they want and then some. I think Oakland gets over the hump this week and finally beats maryville on their field in a close one.
  11. Since y'all Blackman fans don't have anything else to do next Friday night you guys can come watch Oakland play Friday night and maybe reevaluate how much more talented Blackman is. Go Pats.
  12. Blackman has some players for certain. The Murphy kid is exceptional. That being said, I think Oakland will have an easier time than they did with Mount Juliet. What Mount Juliet may have lacked in overall talent they made up for in great coaching. Blackman simply does not have that elite level of coaching that it takes to win week after week and year after year like Oakland, Maryville, Whitehaven, Alcoa and some of the other better teams in the state. Sorry Blackman, your playoff run ends Friday.
  13. Hats off to MJ players and coaches. They had a solid plan but in the end Oakland was just too much. First time watching MJ play in the last few years. Very impressed with their coaching and effort. Glad to see the Patriots make second half adjustments with the wildcat and finish the way they should have started. I said it earlier in the week that they have a tendency to start slow and tonight they did it again. Bring on Blackman. Go Pats
  14. Agreed, not necessarily better or worse than last year, just different. More explosive special teams play. Upgrade at QB. Tendency for the team to start slow several games this year. Some teams have had success early on the ground. You are correct that it has to be done for an entire game and Oakland has yet to see a team capable of it. Oakland is in a group of 3-4 teams that are playing at a completely different level than everyone else in 6A. They will be tested for certain. Maybe not as much this week but they will eventually.
  15. My guess is that GoPats is taking a little poke at me. My interpretation that Oakland is not perfect seems to possibly offend him. He and I are cheering for the same team. Oakland. I just don't agree with him that Oakland is the perfect team. I THINK Oakland will handle MJ quite easily this Friday but you never know. As you can see from my prediction above, Oakland wins bigly.
  16. I didn't consider that but it's certainly possible. Coach is definitely a sly one. I think Oakland is fortunate to have him. His game and clock management is near perfect as far as I have seen.
  17. Again, Warren County rammed it down their throats. Between the tackles. Were you there? If a not so great Warren County team can do it once then how many times can Whitehaven do it? I'm just relaying what I saw. If you were at that game then I would assume you were asking yourself the same question as I was. "What the flip is going on here?" Their record is perfect. Their team is not. You apparently don't see things the same. You act like I'm some kind of Oakland hater. Nothing could be further from the truth. I donate my time and experience with the games because I want to and I support the program.
  18. They have been challenged at times during games but never in real jeopardy of losing. Oakland is good, very good and I'm a huge fan. I've been at every home game for the last four years and work as a volunteer on game days for Oakland. Warren County's first drive of the game they ran it right down Oaklands throat like it was nothing. I would call that a slow start and a challenge that Oakland didn't meet. That being said, Oakland woke up and played and won big. As they should. My point is that Oakland is not perfect except in their record. That is great but my concern is that teams like Warren County and Riverdale have shown some of the bigger programs that Oakland does indeed have some areas that may be exploitable. I hope they have blowouts like last year in the semi and finals but I wouldn't expect it. First thing they have to do is beat Mount Juliet. I think they will pretty big but you never know. MJ is not going to just roll over and play dead. They will give it all they have because they have nothing to lose.
  19. MJ puts up a good fight but Oaklands depth is just too much for most every team in the state. Oakland wins bigly with a strong second half.
  20. Slow starts to games and average teams being able to run between the tackles. They have been able to overcome these on average to below average teams but how will the offense fair against the teams like Maryville or Whitehaven? Oakland is very, very good but being at every home game and listening or watching the others I have seen some chinks in the armor.
  21. Even though Oakland does have some weaknesses, this one won't be close. Running clock second half. 56-14
  22. Agreed 100%. Find a coach down in the lower classifications that has had great success that is willing to step up to 6A ball. This is exactly what Oakland did when they got Creasy from Trousdale County where I believe he had two state championships under his belt.
  23. Oakland wins BIGLY! I'll be there as always for home games.
  24. I've seen every Oakland game this year. They are every bit as good as last years team but now have a legit pro style quaterback. The Sparks kid has a very strong and accurate arm. 6'5" and 220 lbs. Oakland defense is great as it usually is. Sorry Blackman folks, this one isn't going to be close. Maybe not a running clock but it will be close to one.
