  1. Magic equals Upperman AAU. Not illegal.... But it should be. Especially with Dana as Coach. I'll give Upperman credit, they take every rule to brink (and over the brink whenever possible).
  2. Macon loses Bullington and that's it. The rest of them are currently sophomores and freshmen.
  3. Seen them play multiple times. All you mentioned are good for their age, but again, they ain't close to what Akira and Riley are now. Macon should be team to beat next year, Upperman barring any transfers will be 2-4 in district next season. Just my opinion though, not trying to disrespect anyone.
  4. Upperman will still be good next year, but not even close to the last 3. Freshmen aren't even going to be in the same universe as Levy and Hurst. Losses FAR outweigh what's coming in. Shrum is the best all around player on next year's team and 2nd aint close. Levy's lil sister is not Akira. Will be lucky to see meaningful minutes next season.
  5. Pickett by double figures. State championship yet to be determined...
  6. Well aware how remote Clarkrange is, I live in Fentress Co. Which makes my point that if he coached only kids from that area he would have a lot less W's. More likely, if he coached in Murfreesboro the number of titles would most probably be considerably less than he has.
  7. AA (some years AAA) talent pool + A competition = a lot of wins. Not blaming him, but if York and a couple surrounding counties could keep the players where they geographically should've went, he don't have a bunch of those W's. Not a criticism, just a fact.

  10. No coin toss, Cannon is 4, DeKalb is 5. Smith is 7, Watertown is 8. After head to head the next tiebreak is who beat the higher seed in regular season. Cannon beat York once, DeKalb did not. Smith beat Cannon once, Watertown didn't.

Thanks for the correction, much appreciated. Thought 8AA was the only district who did it. I stand corrected.

    8AA

You are right, for whatever reason a majority of coaches voted it in. That being said, if its such a great format why is 8AA the only 8 team district in the state that I know of that uses it? If the goal of the format is to get the best district teams to the Region then the #3 seed should play the winner of the 7/8 game and #4 seed should play the winner of the 5/6 game, right?

    8AA

Supposedly Upperman came up with that format and somehow got enough coaches to vote for it. No reason for it. I guess they wanted the regular season to "mean" something. If you are a #1 or #2 seed and can't beat a #7 or #8 in the tournament you don't deserve to get to the region anyway. Never heard of an 8 team tournament being held with this format. I think this is the 3rd year its been like this.
  14. Seedings for District Tournament almost locked in now. Only variable could be 4 and 5. Only way Dekalb can get to 4th is if they beat Macon and Cannon loses to LA. Otherwise Cannon should be the 4 seed. Tournament looks like the following: #5 Dekalb Co vs #8 Watertown- winner to play #4 Cannon Co- winner to play #1 Upperman in Semi-Final #6 Livingston Academy vs #7 Smith Co- winner to play #3 York Institute- winner to play #2 Macon Co in a Semi-Final
  15. Last week in regular season... 1: Upperman 12-0 2: Macon Co 11-1 (game at Upperman with chance to tie for regular season title) 3: York Institute 8-4 Clinched 3rd 4: Cannon Co & DeKalb Co 5-7 (Cannon has easier schedule remaining) 6: Livingston Academy 4-8 (needs to beat Cannon and/or York to have a shot at 4th or 5th) 7: Watertown 2-10 8: Smith Co 1-11 (needs to beat Watertown to tie for 7th) Can anybody upset Macon or Upperman in District Tourney? Who has the best shot to do so?
  16. Jesus, just let it go. I will give you credit though, you are a funny son of a gun. Makes me laugh every time you post something. Serious question though.... Do you wear a rainbow wig, red nose and clown shoes when you post? If you're gonna play the part at least put on the uniform. This thread is for AA Miss Basketball nominees. Give the thread back to those kids. Dishman, Levy and Lamb are three very deserving candidates and any of them would be great choices for Miss Basketball.
  17. Trust me, my reading comprehension is just fine. That post I quoted says that if the "worst and the weakest" play that makes basketball a socialist sport. When do those kids play? It should be as soon as the outcome is no longer in question, and most coaches do exactly that.
  18. Relax, take a deep breath. I happen to think CCHS is the best team in AA. I didn't say the Coach runs the score up on anyone. They beat us handily twice. I thought Radhika handled it well and never tried to run the score up to get anyone their stats. All the players were all respectful to our kids. CCHS has a great program. All I said was you were the one who seems to advocate leaving the best players on the floor for 32 minutes when it isn't necessary. 3 most deserving players are definitely Dishman, Levy and Lamb.
  19. If I'm not badly mistaken the individual who made these comments is a CCHS fan, at least I've seen multiple posts where he beats the Jets drum. Stupid in every way to play starters late in blowouts. No upside to either team, with much greater risk to the team performing the beatdown. Also, nothing wrong with being an honorable winner.
  20. According to tssaa website enrollment for Pickett County is 226 students and Clarkrange is 290.
  21. We have played all 3 (Cumberland, Macon & Upperman), my opinion is Cumberland Is better than Macon or Upperman. Their press and pressure are by far the best I've seen. Dishman can score with the best of them, but make no mistake they have several other kids that can score and every kid they put on the floor is relentless. The press comes at you in waves.

    8AA

So could York, although they definitely have to play better than they have the last 2 weeks.
  23. If the TSSAA has any kind of consistency, teams needs to be suspended from the post season. York Institute received a 2 year post season ban 3 years ago for a heck of a lot less. TSSAA (Childress) needs to be consistent, he has already set the precedent. If they don't swing the same hammer then it's a true shame!
  24. I have zero doubt that being a ref is a thankless job. That being said, I don't think anyone in the stands expects perfection. Competency, ability to make it up and down the court without needing an oxygen tank and just good old consistency is all that is expected. And, honestly shouldn't be too much to ask. It's just my opinion but those 3 things are increasingly hard to find.
