  1. Our team needs a win after getting outscored 101-13 in the first two games. I was hoping for 3-4 wins this year, with Kingston being one of those. I watched them some in practice today and the coaches and players just didn't seem to be into it. Maybe a laid back approach will work this week.
  2. Walker Valley had the talent to win the last few games in this series, but the Cherokees prevailed every time. When McMinn beat McMinn Central Friday a week ago, I said then that McMinn wasn't that good although they won convincingly. Walker Valley certainly gave Bradley a MUCH better game (other than too many special teams blunders) than McMinn did, so the Mustangs should win this game. But since I see Coach Ryan on the sidelines for Walker Valley I wouldn't be too confident they can win.
  3. Marion took Meigs to the cleaners last year in Decatur. The game was basically over at the end of the 1st qtr. Is that game still in the heads of Meigs' returning players?
  4. Central couldn't score 28 against air.
  5. You should be more concerned about your own team, who got drilled in their fist game to a team who lost last night to a winless team.

  7. I agree with jeepman and I don't have anything against the guys coaching at all. They're just not getting it done, unless you count the year when they had superior talent. Even then they laid an egg or two. One of the best coaches on the staff in my opinion doesn't have the fire he once had, by his own admission. I look for him to leave after this season.
  8. After a very disappointing performance against cross-creek rival McMinn Co., the Chargers now have to go on the road against another 5A opponent, Rhea Co. The Golden Eagles probably won't be in a good mood after getting embarrassed last Friday themselves. I hope the Chargers get some of their problems worked out this week in practice, but even if they play with no turnovers or penalties I think they lose by 35 or more points.
  9. Depth will be an issue for the Chargers, especially as the season goes along playing their brutal schedule. The Cherokees have depth at running back and they're pretty solid on the defensive line. Should be another slobberknocker.
  10. I'm a Charger fan but I don't think the Cherokees will lose this time on our side of the creek. The loss the Cherokees suffered here in 2014 still stings so they won't come over here thinking they only have to show up to win. As far as being competitive, both teams might be but I don't think either one will have a .500 record at the end of the season. Looking forward to a slobberknocker without any injuries.
  11. The last time McMinn Co. crossed the creek and visited Charger Stadium in 2014 they left with a loss. The Chargers aren't as good as they were in 2014, but I'm not sure McMinn County is that good either. Who are you picking to win?
  12. Is Clarkrange the team with the whiny coach?
  13. Coach T schedule has them with 6 home games. I think they'll go 3-7 at best overall and 1-4 in the Region.
  14. What's the story on Polk Co? They used to have some very good teams but they have bottomed out the last few years.
  15. Very good head coach, but a couple of his assistants were probably forced on him.
  16. Sad to hear this. Last I heard he was working for the hospital in Sweetwater
  17. Will the official number be set by the number of students at the end of the school year in May or June of 2017?
  18. I've "thought" WV would be better the last two years than they were, so my (and everyone's) doubt is valid they will be this year. They've had much better talent every year that Glenn Ray has been coach than has shown in the final W-L record. When different players are playing year after year and the team underachieves every year, the common denominator is the head coach.
  19. If Walker Valley finishes second, then it's a weak Region.
  20. I agree 100%. From seeing how their fans acted and listening to them Friday against Meigs, they're some of the worst I've ever seen. If some of them were parents of the players, I feel sorry for their children. They were an embarrassment to a "supposedly" Christian school.
  21. Silverdale is a bought and paid for team, no doubt about it, and should already be Div. II. What Meigs did was nothing short of remarkable by beating them. Silverdale also had a stud transfer there from Chattanooga Central at Christmas break who was "somehow" eligible to play for them in the State tourney.
  22. Can't argue with that. They played a few out of district games against good competition this year, but they need to play even more since the district and region are usually weak. I know the teams in 8AA earn what they get in district and region. I still think Morgan's refusal to use zone defenses at times has cost the team many times at state.
  23. I think Johnny is a good coach, but not a great coach. He's had the best talent at State a few times, yet lost. Most knowledgeable fans think he should have won a state championship at least 3-4 more times than he has. Next year he'll have about 7 Seniors, but no height to speak of. When these Seniors graduate the overall talent level and experience drops off quite a bit, so unless he wins it next year I just don't see him at his age winning another gold ball.
  24. I think I read where Upperman only had 1 three pointer in their first game, but had 6 yesterday? Unlike Central coach Morgan, East Nashville's coach probably knows to switch to a zone defense when an opposing team's player is driving to the goal to her heart's content.
