  1. Jellico, N Greene, Chatt Prep advancing so far.
  2. UH: I think they are the darkhorse to win it all, they have played a pretty tough schedule. N Greene: very solid squad too, don’t think they have a Schultz type caliber player this year they would need to win it all! They did beat UH in District Championship then lost in Region championship by 3 to them. Chatt All Stars Gordy Eagleville Wayne Co. UC Humboldt
  3. I have not and I’m sure they are talented, have to have athletes to match up with Memphis schools for as long as I can remember or they are just going to out athlete you. Like Viking said you never know, they transfer freely! However I believe good coaching can get those three teams I named to at least the championship game. Edit: I’m just glad Douglass in is 2a now they look to be on a mission! Won their region championship by 41!
  4. IMO it’s going to be UC , Humboldt, Chatt Prep, one of these will be the single A champs! Want to bet me on that Capt guru? You can have the field!
  5. That girls game Wednesday night was as bad as I’ve seen this year and we have some really young and inexperienced refs in the upper Cumberland! In the championship games at Tullahoma, neither had any flow or pace of play, it was like the refs wanted to impact the game and be the reason it was close! Mumbletypeg must have had them at some point this year too because that’s exactly what happened. The refs dictated who was on the floor and who was shooting free throws on some tough calls both ways!
  6. It’s the way the ball bounces sometimes I thought the foul call was right, I’m not going to comment on the 5 second because it’s subjective if the clock isn’t running! It was a killer game to watch I just had a feeling it would be back and forth like that! I was hoping it would go into OT like any basketball fan without ties to the schools watching, but what a shot by Cobb! That is the first of many crunch time postseason shots that young man is going to make! He is calm and collected at all times and made the play when his team needed it. Congrats to Coach McWilliams and the Bees!
  7. Capps will get his 25+ and Cobb will make plays, those two have done some amazing things this year and I’ve enjoyed watching them both! It will come down to Chaffin, Roberts, and Huddleston if those 3 can contribute, make shots, and take care of the ball for the bees, I’ll take Baxter by 4 in a back and forth battle!
  8. Clay survives ER to play PC, bring on round 4! That freshman I was talking about for ER is the real deal A. Pennington put on a show she had 31 with 6 threes, despite being face guarded most of the game. She’s got next for sure, congrats to Coach Walker and CC they should have a good chance to make the glass house!
  9. IMHO it would take almost a perfect game and some good shooting from deep from CRange, but I’ll never say Lamar Rodgers doesn’t have a chance. They will both be really good next year it’ll be Pickett and CR at state I believe!
  10. ER girls are young, but have one of the best freshman in the state at getting her own shot. Clay is senior ladened, should be a good battle! It is at ER so that gives them an advantage to a degree. I think It’ll be Clay vs Pickett for the 4th time later this week.
  11. I highly doubt they will be cheering for their boys, Knowledge just got their best player back from suspension. Pickett is just lucky it’s in Byrdstown and they should get the benefit of the home whistle like Jo Byrnes did against Clay earlier!
  12. With these new streaming rules letting anybody stream the games on Facebook and YouTube for every sport for a large fee, not to mention I am almost positive they get a cut from NFHS too! They are making plenty of money during the regular season!
  13. They don’t even have enough refs for the regular season let alone if you add a book keeper to every game, unfortunately. However in the post season I believe it can be done a lot easier, because not all teams will be playing. Edit: TSSAA should teach the younger non experienced refs how to keep the book, while simultaneously letting them watch the seasoned more experienced refs work the games. It some instances it may help the younger refs gain confidence and understand the game better. However this may not help too much since some of them only have a basic grasp of the rules let alone the situations that arise! I’ve seen many of instances of just horrid officiating and even refs losing control of the games this year from both young and old officials than ever before! We are going to be in major trouble when the Boomers and gen Xers retire from officiating.
  14. Just my two cents, I believe it should be like done similar to the play clock operator in Football. The home school provides the official book until the post-season, after that the games mean more and TSSAA should provide someone who is trained by them keep up with it. Everyone is human and I have seen errors that have affected the outcome before in the regular season and beyond!
  15. Hiring a first time head coach two times in a row and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. It’s going to take commitment, time and trust between all parties involved. I thought at the end of last year CR boys were playing much better than at anytime during the past 2 years and I was excited to see them compete this year, I even said it on here they would compete. Then they canned the coach who developed the kids despite getting blown out and taking plenty of beat downs. The Coach now didn’t endure any of that with these boys and I believe they probably resent him a little. Respect is earned not just given because of a title! They have talent for sure but everyone has to be on the same page even the fans!
  16. Wow, just noticed York doesn’t have a single player on this list and they were ranked by most of the same writers as number 1 most the year right? I wonder why only 2 qb and rb on the 2a list? That would have helped I’m sure Leffew from YAI and 25 from Riverside had to be the next ones right? Not asking you specifically ST just wondering and this post it is easier to see the positions.
  17. Comical is putting it lightly, this is the worst year for state awards I’ve ever seen, no way in he** these writers got out of their own areas to watch other games or even attempted to do some research. I remember when being all-state used to mean something because the writers did do their research and seemed to care about it and the kids. Gordonsville, Clay County, have 1 players combined, that’s pretty shady to me. those 2 teams were the last standing in the East with SP. Then you take the Auburn commitment from SP who made it and according to their fans wasn’t even one of their top players and all he wanted to do was fight, even got suspended for a game! Then two soph from SP don’t get me wrong they are very talented players but weren’t the best on the field from the games I watched of SP, I saw lots of Juniors and Seniors who were better just on worse teams. Award the kids for their hard work and not the ones who benefits from what school they might be playing at the next level or what Letters are on their chest. I understand it’s always going to be biased, but at least get the right players from the right teams on there.
  18. Good analysis, Without a doubt the toughest district in AAA! You have them ranked how I would and I’ve seen them all play, White County definitely has the potential to be 1 with their talent and Dodgen has them playing really good right now. LA has gotten their PG back and that alone has already has taken some pressure off of Butler and the other younger players. That being said the next 2 years I would not want to play Upperman in any sport and would not be surprised if they upset some people this year in the district and region.
  19. I watched some of it Pickett is a solid team, but just didn’t have an answer for Easts athletes and shooters! Plus add in the experience from those games played early in the season without football players will definitely will help in the long run. The Indians will be a tough out for sure just like y’all have been in round ball and Football too! Should be some pretty good matchups with a lot more at stake later in the year for sure.
  20. How many one time transfers can move to a certain school each year? Heck teams will be getting entire Offensive and Defensive lines on connections alone! Or say a WR/QB duo that used to play 7 on 7s for a coach or even OC who just got a new gig. Lots of circumstances that are possible. Where do they draw the line on how many and if previous connections will make them ineligible for a year.
  21. I did it for emphasis kinda like bigcornbreads Z’s.
  22. He isn’t no three star prospect, but y’all did have trouble tackling him those first two drives!
  23. It was a loophole wildbill cited it a while back. MAHS did the same thing in basketball one year they loaded up and we barely got by them in the state tournament they were stacked!
