  1. Oh WOW so Millington did come back within 1 after being down 27-0. I don't think Haywood's QB going out had anything to do with that. That game probably got pretty exciting in the 2nd half.
  2. This is a statement that you might use in a 24-22 lose But not a 45-22 lose. Own it man. You were wrong on this game.
  3. I believe with the injuries and the playoff atmosphere this game will be a lot closer than the last meeting between these two.
  4. After watching this game I believe Covington will be a little more of a challenge this go around.
  5. I noticed that Millington pulled within 1 point early in the 4th 26-27. So did Haywood really blow a 27 point lead or are we just not going to talk about that part. LOL I'm guessing that was a misprint I seen.
  6. 1927?! Wow. That’s a lot of games played between two teams so far apart. Love hearing old stats, data, records or whatever you want to call it from local and neighboring county high schools.
  7. Dyersburg pulls this one out comfortably but not a blow out. Then we handle Covington by 3 scores. Pay no attention to my Ripley win in earlier post. We’re on this post now. LOL
  8. No doubt you stop their QB it's over. This could be a really fun game to watch.
  9. Well dang I just commented on another post that Ripley upsets Covington in rd 2. Was thinking the score was a lot closer in the first meeting. I may need to go delete that huh
  10. Of course I'm taking Dyersburg over Westview probably by 14 to 17 but it's the playoffs so it could be a one score game. But I'm going out on a limb here and predicting Ripley to upset Covington in a very close one maybe even ending in some controversy.
  11. I admit that I don't keep up with Millington at all since they let our region this year, or any of region 8 for that matter. But I did just watched most of these two games from the links and I have to say Millington looked like 2 completely different teams. We all thought 7 would easily sweep 8. So either Melrose is a whole lot better than most thought or Region 7 & 8 are equally good. if you watched the end of that Millington Crockett game Millington could have easily scored on Crockett to win by 11 but decided to run the clock out. And I'm not so sure they didn't score. But that's just my opinion.
  12. So what you're saying is you don't get that home cooking you're use to when at "home"?
  13. After reading a lot of other topics and noticing several posters in every class mentioning how "7-?A will sweep 8-?A" it makes me realize how lucky we (all regions 1-7) are that Shelby County has so many high schools. Because let's be honest if Shelby Co had all there talent condensed into one, two or even three different schools like most counties they would probably be playing for a state championship every year. "My" team is 7-3A so I know first hand how every year the talk is how 7-3A will sweep 8-3A. I also keep up with 4A and a little 5A and although we don't always sweep we at least go 3 of 4 in first round. So here's to hoping Shelby Co keeps their 147 high schools. Just being real.
  14. With all this talk about 7-3A sweeping 8-3A it makes me realize how lucky we (7-3A) are that Shelby County has so many high schools. Because let's be honest if Shelby Co had all there talent condensed into one, two or even three different schools like most counties do they would probably take the Gold Ball to Shelby County every year. Probably wouldn't have to worry about that in 3A but whatever class that would be would dominate. JMO!!
  15. That's a strong program right there. What all communities should be shooting for. Good Luck to yall in the playoffs.
  16. I agree that's how it works in college. But are you saying people move into Alcoa district without any encouragement so their kids can play for a successful program?
  17. Wow. I'll admit I know nothing about Alcoa's program but even Alcoa fans would have to admit how someone would believe there is some kind of recruiting going on over there. Even if there is not you have got to at the least say to yourself, "I can see where it looks fishy to the outsiders". I mean it's hard to believe one school has that much "state champion" talent year after year. And even harder to believe they found 5 great coaches in that tight of a time frame. Even the richest D1 college teams don't get that lucky and they pay millions for coaches. Example: Alabama. A long history of winning championships but the few dry runs they've had was when they made a "dud" hire for their coach/recruiter. But Hey I'm not hating. Just giving the Alcoa fans a little something to think about before they get defensive when being accused of "recruiting". Go get you another State Title Tornados!!
  18. What? Definitely not the “Game of the Week”.Hate to say this, but I’m a realist. This game will be similar to the first meeting. The Trojans May hang in there for a half but by the end it will be a 3 to 4 score win for Covington.
  19. I may agree with you here, but if we go with this analysis then we're saying Covington is playing a weak schedule also and therefore this is the Only reason they're making it this far in the playoffs. This is no disrespect to Covington. They're just playing the teams they are dealt. Unfortunately that may not fare too well for them in the semis. It will be a great accomplishment to make it to the finals or even the semis, but listening to all the opinions and predictions this year Covington plays in a extremely weak region 7 and through an even weaker region 8. That my friends is a recipe for a heartbreaking blowout lose in the semis or finals..I hope I'm wrong,,I Really Do..
  20. Now I need to know the real truth. On a post that some of the Munford fans made on Facebook saying just the opposite. That Springfield was dirty and trying to injure several of their players. Also that the refs weren't doing anything about it. One of the exact quotes <("Our Cougars lost tonight to a team that played pretty dirty, and officials that needed glasses. We didn’t play our best, but we aren’t used to getting kicked, getting helmets yanked off, or getting collars pulled for tackles. Officials should be protecting the kids, and they sucked at that") ..So who's telling the truth. We need answers LOL
  21. I figured Haywood would play Covington ,Munford and even Dyersburg every year. Would be good gates and most years competitive games. You said you would like to avoid "any Memphis city schools!" Then named Germantown and Whitehaven which are both City of Memphis ran schools. JS But I get your point.
  22. Is this game going to be a delayed stream like all Covingtons home games? I'll be at the Dyersburg Ripley game but wouldn't mind checking it out afterwards.
  23. You've got to think coaching has something to do with that also. "That" being players making it to D1 and type offensive play. A couple years ago I looked up the number of D1 players that came out of Tennessee in the last couple decades and a large number of those were from the Memphis/Shelby Co. area. But you don't see a lot of State Titles going that way. If it was all about talent and Memphis/Shelby Co. put all their talent on six different teams they could possibly take 6 Gold Balls to the West end every year. Maybe we need to start paying our coaches a real salary for coaching here in West Tenn.
