  1. What? Definitely not the “Game of the Week”.Hate to say this, but I’m a realist. This game will be similar to the first meeting. The Trojans May hang in there for a half but by the end it will be a 3 to 4 score win for Covington.
  2. I may agree with you here, but if we go with this analysis then we're saying Covington is playing a weak schedule also and therefore this is the Only reason they're making it this far in the playoffs. This is no disrespect to Covington. They're just playing the teams they are dealt. Unfortunately that may not fare too well for them in the semis. It will be a great accomplishment to make it to the finals or even the semis, but listening to all the opinions and predictions this year Covington plays in a extremely weak region 7 and through an even weaker region 8. That my friends is a recipe for a heartbreaking blowout lose in the semis or finals..I hope I'm wrong,,I Really Do..
  3. Now I need to know the real truth. On a post that some of the Munford fans made on Facebook saying just the opposite. That Springfield was dirty and trying to injure several of their players. Also that the refs weren't doing anything about it. One of the exact quotes <("Our Cougars lost tonight to a team that played pretty dirty, and officials that needed glasses. We didn’t play our best, but we aren’t used to getting kicked, getting helmets yanked off, or getting collars pulled for tackles. Officials should be protecting the kids, and they sucked at that") ..So who's telling the truth. We need answers LOL
  4. I figured Haywood would play Covington ,Munford and even Dyersburg every year. Would be good gates and most years competitive games. You said you would like to avoid "any Memphis city schools!" Then named Germantown and Whitehaven which are both City of Memphis ran schools. JS But I get your point.
  5. Is this game going to be a delayed stream like all Covingtons home games? I'll be at the Dyersburg Ripley game but wouldn't mind checking it out afterwards.
  6. You've got to think coaching has something to do with that also. "That" being players making it to D1 and type offensive play. A couple years ago I looked up the number of D1 players that came out of Tennessee in the last couple decades and a large number of those were from the Memphis/Shelby Co. area. But you don't see a lot of State Titles going that way. If it was all about talent and Memphis/Shelby Co. put all their talent on six different teams they could possibly take 6 Gold Balls to the West end every year. Maybe we need to start paying our coaches a real salary for coaching here in West Tenn.
  7. Thank you for that information. That's interesting. If this is accurate I wonder how many schools know this. I haven't noticed any West Tenn schools broadcasting rd. one. I seen where some school was asking for sponsors to pay for a delayed broadcast fee. Not really sure what that means. I think it was Peabody, Covington or mabe Ripley. Not really sure.
  8. I don’t think it was a waste at all. He’s telling facts. They are crooks. There is No way TSSAA should be making more money than the 2 teams playing each game. Some guys from our local school told me they also won’t let them Broadcast their own teams games without paying $500 or maybe even $1000. Not really sure about the amount but charging a team any amount is being a crook. Not sure what can be done but I’m sure something can be if all schools stand together.
  9. I don't think Covington is "way down" but I do believe they are down some. Charger fans want to justify their loses this year by saying they came at the hands of bigger schools. And although that's true they have had several seasons where they beat those 4A and 5A schools on their way to a deep playoff run. I don't say that disrespectfully but this year they did win the games they were expected to win while losing a couple they would normally win or at least make competitive. So that why I believe they are down some. Not bad, just no as good as we all expect from there program.
  10. Since they finally got turf this year they do have a decent facility except for the visitor stands. If you bring a decent following with you there’s not enough room in those little rickety stands. But hey maybe there NIL deals got into their budget a little. No big deal. Facilities don’t win ball games so it should be a good one down there Friday night.
  11. I can agree with some of what you're saying, But,,,if you're on the outside looking in at Covington's program they aren't the team they have shown in the past. Aside from Munford and Haywood they've played a very weak schedule. Yes they played a bad game against Munford but I don't think Munford is as good as they're being built up to be this year. They'll probably be exposed by the 3rd Rd,,but that's a whole other "topic".. The Haywood game wasn't near as close as the score showed. It could have easily been a running clock the whole second half if the Tomcats chose to. And yes I know Covington handled Dyersburg easily but I'll be the first to admit we're nowhere near the team that beat the Chargers twice last year. So that's not saying much.
  12. I appreciate the concern but I’m not a “click” seeker. Just looking for a couple opinions of a possible outcome. I’ll be there either way pulling for the Trojans.
  13. I thought the winner is 2nd in the region but after listening to West Tenn Sports that is true for Dyersburg but if Ripley wins they’re 3rd and Dyersburg is fourth with Millington taking 2nd. That is if Millington wins over Bolivar. So this game could be a good one with both teams possibly playing for a Home game in the first round.
  14. No offense Haywood fans but this is a post about a couple 3A schools playing for 2nd place in their Region. How about starting a "Please Someone Come Play With Us" post instead of highjacking every West Tenn post crying and begging for someone to be your friend. Now with that out of the way,, Who do you have in the Dyersburg/Ripley game this friday night?
  15. Dyersburg and Ripley play this Friday night for a first round playoff game. Although neither team has been very impressive this year this could be a dog fight for that 2nd spot in the region. It will be in Dyersburg so that could be the difference.
  16. In what scenario could that possibly happen? You already have 2 Shelby Co. teams in region 7 that could be moved to Region 8 (or is it just one). so I don’t see that happening to any others. Please tell me I’m right?
  17. I really thought that Millingtons QB was going to single handingly beat us in the second half. If Millington would have taken those 3 points in the first half he would have. So we can thank the Millington coaches for that dub. Now we have to take care of Ripley
  18. This may be another week one outcome for the Chargers. They haven't really faced a team like this since week one and I believe it will show Friday night.
  19. I’d like to see that match up. Will the road to the semifinals be pretty easy for HC?
  20. I do believe this could be a defensive battle. So the first team to find any Offense wins. I watched millington/Ripley game and Millington’s offense is a lot worse than Dyerburgs. They will never score on us. Dyersburg wins 14 - 0. They do seem to have a kicker so maybe 14-6
  21. Ok,,I’ll play with you. “Running clock by the second half,” Covington by as many as they want” , “JV will get some playing time” blah blah blah LOL. Next…..
  22. They do look better than they did against Covington. Especially the defense. That’s definitely a different QB than played against y’all. Not better enough to beat y’all and don’t think they’ll beat Dyersburg. As long as we “show up”. Could be a great game.
