  1. You actually said it would take a 4.4 to be faster than "anybody" on the defense. If reading comprehension is key, so should be literary fundamentals. The Peabody program had to replace most of its offensive and defensive lines this year from kids graduating last year. Only a couple linemen with extensive playing time returned. You absolutely want to see improvement from an athlete's sophomore to junior season, but when I mentioned getting punched in the mouth and overcoming I also stated I was specifically talking about in the trenches. I guess "reading comprehension is key." I was at the Milan game. Penalties hurt Peabody, no doubt. However, what really got Peabody in trouble that game were key players in key spots not being able to be on the field in the 4th quarter due to cramps. This was a great lesson on overcoming adversity early in the season for the Tide.
  2. Some of the Peabody posters are too cocky (or maybe 'self-assertive' is a better adjective), imo. Occasionally, Trentonians need to reel it in slightly. Peabody has a great squad this year, no doubt about it.... However, the truth of the matter is that Peabody has not played great competition this year. Milan was the best all around team PHS has played. Although it is promising that Peabody came out with a win (barely). The touted dominate defense has yet to play a great offense. Consecutive shutouts are impressive to a degree, but none of the teams the Tide shutout are offensive juggernauts. The sub 4.4 speed across the defense comment is ludacris. However, 2 kids were laser timed sub 4.6. A very athletic junior class is a strength of this team. However, the biggest strength of this team is with the coaching staff getting kids prepared and in a position to make plays. Come playoff time the defense will have an entire new look with different personnel groupings. Lots of football yet to be played.... It is too early to label this team as a shoe in for cookeville based on the level of competition Peabody has faced. Week to week anything can happen (i.e. McKenzie last year). Hopefully Friday night there will be huge crowd in attendance to support a rivalry that has rarely been close in anything other than geographical distance. It's good for everyone involved that both programs have enjoyed success leading up to this matchup. The physicality the pioneers play with will be a great test for the Tide. Down the road, if Trenton is going to make a run to cookeville they will have to learn how to get hit in the mouth in the trenches and overcome. Although, I also believe we have yet to see the peak of what this Peabody team could be (scary thought).
  3. Dynamix Physical Therapy working with Peabody athletics is a secret weapon when it comes to getting injured athletes back on the field! Tide Rolls!!!
  4. Happened on TD run that won game vs. Milan
  5. Yes, he is the youngest of the brothers.
  6. Trenton Special School District is zoned enrollment. In fact, there are 7 different school districts in Gibson County. These schools vary from 1a-3a. To my knowledge, none of these schools are open enrollment (Gibson County High school might be open enrollment?)
  7. Malone landed on the ball and had the air knocked out of him at the end of Dresden game. He is fine
  8. FYI, latest weather models are showing near 2 inches of rain in Nashville Friday-Friday night. I pray this field is better than the field we played on in Raleigh-Egypt Memphis 1st round. Hands down worst field conditions I have ever seen.
  9. Seriously though, grass field or turf?
  10. Nah man, we are the "U" of the TSSAA. You ain't know? We're probably going to take the field playing 2 Live Crew. Lol
  11. NCS got a fancy artificial turf field? Or is it slop and mud like the rest of us peons' fields?
  12. About the TV... Both schools are aware of this. Yes he touched a TV. Nothing was stolen. Nothing was damaged. Just a celebration prank that was caught on camera. For the love of god, can we talk about football now.
  13. The Dresden faithful claiming this will be a 4-5 TD win have lost your marbles.
  14. My reply wasn't quoting you. I'm referring to players other than Peabody's QB. However, yes, QB Malone is suspended for the 1st half.
  15. Divulging information on the conduct of minors in a public forum isn't a can of worms I am willing to open. It is a school system disciplinary matter. I've seen several people mention that Union City has too many athletes for Peabody. Speed and athleticism was Peabody's bread and butter last year. All of those athletes are back as seniors this year. There isn't a team in 1a that can boast having more athletes than Trenton. However, Peabody is slightly undersized. Lining up and punching them in the mouth gave us fits last year and I've seen it bother us at times this year. For Trenton to win, HC Jacobs has to have a stellar game plan defensively. A game plan that can be implemented and successfully executed by the players on the field. I feel that it will take limiting UC to under 28 points to win. Whether or not that can be done is yet to be seen. Regardless, I hope it's an injury free contest for both sides. It's a great football weekend in our great small towns. There is a good possibility this game will be the first of 2 meetings between these teams.
  16. Peabody is playing without 3 starting offensive linemen. They have been suspended the first 3 games of the season
  17. I have heard the schedule is set except for week 2. Only team that has expressed interest is Crockett County Haven't heard any confirmation on rest of schedule but I was told coaches were looking for somebody else because we open with Union City and have Milan week 3. Heck of an opening stretch.
  18. Congratulations from Trenton. You made a great run. Fought with determination and grit for 4 qtrs. I understand the hard work and dedication it takes to accomplish what you were able to do this year. Be proud of it, learn from it, and apply it to your future endeavors. Best wishes!
  19. With almost all skill players coming back. Brandon Johnson gets overlooked by many. He is a stud. Woods has been quoted as saying he would see the field even if he was on some of his stacked South Panola teams of years past. Rico Buchanan will also be back. I expect to see him in the slot position more next year on offense as well. Goodwin returns one year faster and stronger. He has the size to play WR at the next level. I'm interested to see how well he will develop speed wise going into his senior year. I am personally excited to see the development of the Curry kid who was a freshman this year. 6'5" WR/TE. Plays basketball, is an athlete, might be our Burcham of the future. ....... oh yeah, plus Malone at QB.
