  1. To correct, FCS not only 'played' in the title game in the last 5 years but won it in 2011 and 2012. Most in AA would say that bracket is a little harder than this one. Just start that argument with any fan base from Adamsville, Trousdale, or Huntingdon. Also, one of your 'power houses' USJ, just got bounced by a Middle TN team with a losing record (DA). You could be right but I wouldn't count out the Middle TN squads that just swept West TN in the first round.
  2. St. George/BGA. If FRA sticks to their passing game, they will stay strong against ECS. No one, including me, gave DA a shot against USJ. I think that shows the Middle TN squads are stronger than most think.
  3. Great win for the Bears. A sweep of West TN by the Middle TN squads. The #1's should take notice. All 4 squads that advanced last week played quality schedules and will put up a good game this coming week. My bet is two #1's will fall at home this Friday night.
  4. MJ simply doesn't have the size on the line to stack up against Oakland nor Blackman. Not saying they don't have the skill but pound for pound, its a tough draw in the first round.
  5. Completely agree. To take it one step further, DCA and FCS are strong and will beat BGA/St. George's that will setup a great rematch this time at Possum Town. ECS and Webb are too strong so they will make up the other semi-final game.
  6. Good luck Blaze ... use this as a JV game. Your true test will come in round 3-4 of the playoffs. This game means nothing .... keep everyone healthy.
  7. I'll go with a long shot and go with Colton Gaines, FCS, #53. Wood is definitely the man at FCS but Gaines is the answer week after week. When I can make the trip from West TN, Gaines is the constant on this squad. Awesome to watch his play throughout the games I've seen. Great player.
  8. Wish I was at this one, from the posts and score it was a good one. This puts FCS in the #2 spot in the district correct, hosting the first round against probably FACS then traveling to Memphis in round 2 against either St. Georges again or possible a shorter trip stopping in Jackson against USJ. My neck of the woods down from Reelfoot Lake so might have to put down my cane pole and stop by for that one. DCA now travels to probably Harding which will be a huge surprise to those guys ... again. They have to be tired of losing to E/M squads. If it plays out like last year, BGA probably won't look past DCA like they did last year. My guess though, DCA handles them again.
  9. PC and East are off this week. The big game will be next week. Wish I could be at those practices. Huge game for both. Trezevant/Fulton need to get game tape.
  10. McCallie is for real. I would have pushed all my chips in at the beginning of the season on Ensworth/Baylor. Beating down both of those programs by 97-43 ... wow. Glad to see a new squad take over as the top dog.
  11. For the record, yes ... the Moc's are playing an SEC squad this weekend.
  12. Good to see McCallie in the National rankings at #33: http://usatodayhss.com/rankings/expert/boys/football/2014/ Fulton jumps into the top 25 @ #24 with Maryville just outside @ #26.
  13. 4A will be decided this year against 4 squads that were not tested during the regular season in their districts. Still going with PC vs. Fulton with Fulton winning it all. The thing that drives me crazy is if there are 8 championships (1-6A/1AA-1A), why are there not 8 Mr. Football Trophies per class? TSSAA is a terrible system that just doesn't work anymore.
  14. Just checked what you posted as 'good' opponents. Before tonight, Vaughn is the leading rusher in the state regardless of class. Just looking at the numbers. If Trezevant was that good, Jones wouldn't be 36th in the state while Vaughn remains number 1. YPC 14.4 vs. 8.3? Come on, not even close regardless of the competition.
  15. Couldn't make it to Possum town tonight but from what I was told, game was over at the half. Just wish MJCA would have played the freshman like FCS did in the 2nd half. Would have been fun to see what the future might have played out in the 2nd half. Regardless, WBBJ reported that the FCS freshman upheld the shutout in the 2nd half even against rain, wind, trick plays by starters, and yes 2 timeouts with under a minute to go. Classy. Good luck with the trip to Byrdstown.
  16. Kind of a stretch to say tonight was a 'big' win against Craigmont. That squad's opponent's combined record before tonight was 6-21. Trezevant's: 10-21 but if you take out your loss to Southhaven it drops to 6-20. Combined, each of you have played 7 teams that have 1 or zero wins on the season. Not exactly a lot of competition so far to judge if West TN will make it to Cookeville. My money is still on Vaughn (PC) against Fulton.
  17. No disrespect for the other programs in Wilson County but Volzchamps couldn't have spelled it out any simpler. You can't say its the level of opponents because if that was the case, you could only consider the highest level (6A) for the question. The question was 'Best football program in WC' and without question over the past decade, Volzchamps explained that in a way that is unequivocal.
  18. Switching to the Wildcat formation against FRA won the game. They didn't have an answer. It was close up to that part of the game. Didn't realize it until later in the week but Taylor put up 248 yards rushing in that game. Wish they would let the K try a couple of FG's though. Only thing I've seen is extra points & he seems to have the leg to at least hit a some inside the 40. He needs some chances before the playoffs just to see what he has in a game situation. Only real test left on the regular season schedule is DCA. Rest of the games should be an opportunity to perfect the Wildcat formation for Taylor and make sure they have a backup that can run it also.
  19. Red Mamba is for real: Yards: 1082, Yards per Game: 216.4, Yards per Carry: 14.8 I can't imagine anyone beating Fulton this year (#26 in the Nation per USAToday) but if it turns out they haven't played any real competition, PC might surprise. Big test for PC will come in a couple of weeks against East Nashville. Believe it or not, that squad hasn't given up a point this year. Outscored opponents 264-0. I realize that's a 3A squad but it'll be interesting to see what Vaughn can do against that defense.
  20. Could be wrong but its my understanding when they made the change to 2A they were locked in for 4 years.
  21. Friday night is going to be fun for the freshman on both squads. Should see what both 8-0 squads from last year can do after the game is out of reach around the middle of the 2nd QTR. MJCA can't cancel this one.
  22. Great insight to the Titans (and your Dolphins). Couldn't agree more. Lot of respect now. Good luck. Really enjoyed your signoff ... 'Respect da Haven'. Classic.
  23. I am stunned with a school the size of MJ, one of the largest in the state and fastest growing, that the size isn't there. Looking at the roster on the website, not many kids over 6'/230. Hopefully that'll change for you before next year when the 32 6A format goes into effect. Your line has to get bigger to compete against those squads down the road in Rutherford County. Blackman's line (D/O) could step in for most JUCO squads.
  24. Any chance you were on 3HL this afternoon?
