Pretty sure East Hickman already won the region tonight. Their only loss was non district and Summertown has two region losses. Not sure about the playoff matchups though
-
I played for Mac and I thought he was a great coach
-
They have a typo. East Hickman is 7-1, not 6-1 in 2A It’s wrong on the article itself, not just the post.

Is it just that R6 just has much better athletes or what?

Republic just needs to shut the program down. They haven’t had a home field for years, they don’t have a locker room, and they don’t have their own practice field. The field they’ve practiced on has rocks on it and isn’t flat. The school’s administration hasn’t taken the sport seriously for 5 years and the kids have paid the price for it.

2A Region 5 Prediction/Discussion for Week 5 Matchups
Inthestall replied to Inthestall's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
I will say that East Hickman had 4 lost fumbles (3 inside the redzone) that resulted in 21 pts lost for them, and then 1 on their 30 that Hickman scored on. So, if not for those uncharacteristic fumbles you probably would have been spot on about that one too. -
2A Region 5 Prediction/Discussion for Week 5 Matchups

1.5 out of 4 I’d say. Pleasant over Summertown East scraped by Hickman in OT Lewis dropping 61 pts to Loretto…wow and then Harpeth over Waverly -

No idea, but it keeps sounding like the entire 2A classification is down from what I keep seeing on here. -

Did you know the East Hickman played Creekwood in the Jamboree the week before the season and beat them 28-6 in one half? -
Noticed that someone posted about this game in the 3A/4A forum but wasn’t getting any chatter in the correct place lol. So, who do yall have in this one and what’s your prediction for the score?

I updated the post with the USA Today rankings so people could compare more easily. They’re ranked 4 in TSWA compared to 8 in USA Today, so I’m guessing you’re leaning towards the sports writers association? -

I know for a fact that East Hickman does not and they’re a team that’s playing pretty well right now after beating 2 3A teams in Weeks 1 and 2 and they have Lewis County this week

Blue Cross Bowl: Knox West vs Hillsboro

Typing while at work. My mistake. And yes that's absolutely true west did get physically dominated...but west didn't make it to she 'ship by bein physically imposing. They got it done by getting Marshall and Cottrell the ball in space and letting them do what they do. They could not scheme up touches for those two that day. -

All you have to do is create half a step for Marshall and he gets you a 30 yard gain and Cottrell gets you 6. -

Inthestall replied to BigDave1967's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Perhaps I was referencing the state game from last year where west was up 14-0 at half time and let Henry Co come back, Sherlock. It's not like it's a one time thing. There's a history of it. The team is prepared for the game (Cummings and staff...I would argue mostly staff...make sure the team is ready for the game) but things start going wrong, Cummings loses his cool. Last week when the rhea county defense was doing such a good job against the run I would've started running gun rollout plays with Marshall to set up screens to Cottrell and draws underneath...make their penetration come back and bite them. West also SHOULD have a few designed tunnel screens but they don't. -

Inthestall replied to BigDave1967's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
I don't buy into the "____ has to play a perfect game" bs...no high school team plays a perfect game, not even maryville...so I don't see much of a point in talking about that. In order for west to win I believe this is what has to happen: Force turnovers (but how?) hillsboro's qb looks like he thinks he's aaron Rodgers in he pocket. I'm not saying he's bad, what I watched of last week was extremely impressive. BUT he looked extremely confident in his arm. If west's secondary can play tight coverage, I think that qb may try to force a few Johnny Manziel plays, and that may lead to opportunities for turnovers. 2nd-don't abandon your darn bread and butter! People like to say that being one dimensional will lose you games...well, west would have won state last year had they not started trying to pass with 7 minutes left in the game. They had plenty of time, and had a rb who averaged 15 yards per carry. Dance with who brung ya. Don't be stupid about the play calling. If the interior d line of Hillsboro is the weak link, attack it. Don't waste plays running around the edge and passing when you don't need to. Unless running the ball stops working...don't stop. Adjust at freaking halftime. Hillsboro will win if west doesn't do these things
