Alcoa gets some football players this week and should improve a lot in the next several weeks. I believe we will be dangerous come tournament time.

Congratulations to our seniors for a great 4 year run and the rest of the team as well. This program has a lot to be thankful for. We have great kids, community support, facilities and good coaches. Also congrats to Covington on a great game. I’ll eat a little crow and say I thought it would be a little easier but I was wrong. The Covington coaches added a few wrinkles to their offense that caught us off guard. Time of possession in the first half was huge. Covington also had several good looking players and they played with a lot of heart. Overall just a great game to watch. Now let’s get ready to get #18!

WOW! Scott County beats AE tonight by 3. If this score is right then 4 AA gets real interesting and I might have to change my opinion on Scott County.

Maryville should be very good next year. I expect Blount County to get two gold balls next year.

Lol! I’m just curious how did we get a lucky call? It looks to me like it was the right call and video confirms it. I guess we’ve been lucky 16 times if that’s what you call luck. Hopefully after tomorrow we will have the most State Championships in Tennessee history and nothing can take that away from this program. The next two years looks very very very promising as well. Just so you know the BA teams in the 80’s and 90’s were awesome teams. The 88 team might have been there best ever. If you didn’t know they were ranked 4th in the country that year. Try comparing any private school today to the 88 BA team. BA had a free reign on the best talent in this state then. It was much harder to win a state title in the 80’s than it is now but we did and it was against the most dominating high school team (in the state of Tennessee) at the time. Since then we have beat several privates in Championship games but no love. We are 6-2 against the private schools in the title game. You can take what you want from that or not but those are facts.

What in the world have you been smoking? It’s true we haven’t played our best offensively the last two weeks but we have won being vanilla on offense. I’ve been watching Alcoa football for a while and can say this is one of our best teams. We also have a winning record against the privates. We have beaten the likes of Brentwood Academy, McCallie,CPA and many others. Did you know we snapped Maryville’s home win streak and Oakland didn’t? You sound like one the people that said Maryville couldn’t play with the big boy’s. We never win the imaginary games but when the real games come we do pretty good.

Not pulling for Whitehaven but that is an awful call. I’m still trying to figure that one out.

I would say 2-4 but getting 6 teams there is pretty good. Now we will see how they perform.

If Whitehaven loses with that much talent wellll... I’m still wondering how they ever got beat. I’ve read all the post but still?? Just because of that I’ll go with Oakland in a real close one. Oakland-16 Whitahaven-13

Congrats to the Fulton falcons on winning the Farragut Thanksgiving tournament. Fulton will be a tough out for anyone this year. Alcoa and AE will be chasing them this year for the district title. Alcoa finished fourth without their starting center (knee) and 3 football players out do to football. We were tied at 33-33 with Webb at halftime and 49-43 after the third. We were outscored 20-7 in the 4th. When we get everyone back we should be a different team. Should be an exciting year in 4AA this year.

Big win for Maryville! Not sure how this game played out but a little surprised that Maryville won only because they have no one to matchup with Akeem. Was he in foul trouble are did Catholic not have a good shooting night?

Yes they do and should be an interesting game. Upperman has a pretty good chance on a W that night. If this game was a few weeks later, I would like our chances. Now the football game is a little different. This is one of our better teams top to bottom. If we are aggressive on offense and defense not sure anyone can beat us. Should be a good game for a half but don’t think the bees will have enough, in the end. I guess we find out Friday night.

When we get everyone back, we’re going to be a tuff out. I’ll see you at the games.

First of all AE played a great game defensively. Second the lack of discipline shown by AE was very disturbing to say the least. This is one of the reasons we choose not to play AE in basketball last year. Thru the years we have had 2 buses mobbed by fans and threatening our students and staff. There have been several other incidents in games and so on. In the late 70’s AE played Fulton at Stockey Athletic center and a terrible fight broke out. High school games were no longer aloud at Stockley. Why would we play AE if it was already a win chalked up? We would have everything to lose and nothing to gain. Personally I have nothing against AE but there are some issues that still needs to be addressed. Get your basketball shoes ready and we will see you then.

This game has to be the most intriguing matchup of the week. 1 vs 2 and the winner probably takes the gold home. This game could go either way but I’ll say Greeneville wins 31-28. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way. I’ll be pulling for the winner.

Catholic will have a major advantage down low. I assume Jancek will be playing basketball too. Maryville’s guard play will be good but Catholic size and athleticism overcome that. IMHO..

After watching a few of these teams early in the season. I would change a few of my predictions. 1) Bearden 2) Catholic 3) Maryville 4) William Blount 5) Hardin Valley 6) Farragut 7) Heritage 8) West 9) Lenior City

So Kingston has added a few players from last year. We played Kingston 4 times and beat them by 24 or more every game. The freshman team played them twice and beat them by 25 each time. They have a chance to be pretty good in a few years but don’t think they will contend this year. Of course only time will tell everyone has to go out and get it done.

Yes Catholic took it to us today. Big man for Catholic is very explosive. He alone makes Catholic a threat this year. Catholic also went 6-8 from the 3 point line in the first half. Catholic could push Maryville for second in their district if they shot it like that. Alcoa on the other hand has a lot of work to do. Missed a lot of open shots early and defensively just didn’t get after it. Long season so no need to panick on the first scrimmage.
