  2. Why don’t you do some research on Bernard Childress? He is the executive director of the TSSAA. Seems like all of his decisions are based on the guidelines. Obviously he’s not the be all say all but you might get some truth too.
  3. Yes we will have a scrimmage with Catholic on Wednesday. Hopefully we can keep it competitive. We have 3 kids that play football that will contribute a lot this year plus a 6’5 kid running track until the end of next week. Starting 5 is fine but depth wise could be suspect. I’ll be there so if you make it let me know.
  4. QSouth89, I have seen you post on here for several years. I respect your basketball IQ of the local teams and comments you bring to the table. I’m really not sure where we will finish but like to be positive and optimistic. Lol!
  5. A lot of people will feel the same way as you, These kids have already heard how they can’t make it back to Murfreesboro without Duante. I personally think that with the kids we have coming back we should be more than fine. I’m not sure you know our personnel this year. We did add a couple of players that didn’t play last year ( let’s just say a big piece to the puzzle) .The sophomore class has a chance to be really good. I guess we will see here in a few months.
  6. District 4 AA is always a district that produces good teams. Should be very competitive this year. Fulton should be the favorite with Alcoa or Austin East battling for second. Fulton has 3 all state players coming back and have added a very good shooter to the team. They will be one of the favorites in AA this year. Alcoa is still a very young team but has 3 pretty good seniors to man the ship. They will be very dangerous come tournament time. Austin East always has good players and athletes across the board. Kingston should be a little better this year. They have two sophomore guards that will be good players the next few years. 1. Fulton 2. Alcoa/A-E 4. Kingston 5. Scott County
  7. This is probably the best Alcoa team I’ve seen in my 40 years. Seen some good teams through the years but not any glaring weaknesses with this team. Defense was the only thing I was worried about this year but they have answered the bell. Good luck to GP the rest of the way!
  8. I love the new billboard! Awesome!
  9. We are only playing once this year and we play at Upperman. Should give both teams a good feel for their teams going into district play.
  10. Alcoa plays Upperman on th14th of Dec. Should be a very interesting game. Having played Livingston Academy last year and with what they have coming back thought they might be the favorite this year in this District. I have seen the Upperman sophomore class play as we played them this year in AAU. Good group of kids they have a chance to be real good. Alcoa also has a very good sophomore class as well.
  11. Obviously Bearden is the clear favorite and Maryville should be picked # 2. Bearden has a great shot at winning it all. Maryville has a good shoot at making it to Murfreesboro. Positions 3-6 are up for grabs and it’s anyones game. If making a prediction I would say Catholic, William Blount, West, Hardin Valley, Farragut, Heritage, and Lenoir City.
  12. First of all, what a great high school football game. A lot of mistakes on both sides but it was also a very physical game. Two teams that left it all on the field tonight. Alcoa won the battle up front and our quarterback made some very nice throws. The play of the game was when we stopped Maryville with 53 seconds left in the half on their own 44, I believe. Then we get six 38 seconds later. Maryville would have only been down 6 if they would have punted. Costly... I still can’t figure out why you go for it on your on side at that stage in the game. Another thing is the pass rush for Maryville was none existent tonight. If they don’t fix that it could be costly down the road. Maryville will rebound from this and become a better team. They have great support and great kids that know how to win. Everybody in that stadium knew it was never over until the last few plays. After that big win, Alcoa should go to the states top spot. How many Rutherford County teams get slayed at the black hole? Let’s just say a few and one just a few weeks ago. Congrats to the Alcoa kids that I have watched grow up the last 8-9 years. It’s been a treat and the ride ain’t over yet.
  13. Congrats to Hamilton on a Championship. Fulton had every opportunity in the 4th to bring this one home. Enjoy this one because it will be a few years for the next one in 2AA.
  14. Hamilton was lucky to win that game. We all watched it and Fulton was right there. Memphis basketball top to bottom is better than the rest of the state but there’s not a huge difference with the teams at the top. There will be several teams better on this side of the state in 2AA next year. 3AAA Bearden will be back and several 1A teams will be better. Enjoy the two this year because I believe you’ll be lucky to win two next year. I’m going to say the East takes two state titles next year. Can’t wait til football season because the East will dominate next year. 4 out of 5 state Championships in 2017. NOW THAT’S DOMINATION!
  15. Wow! Looks like it could have been two fouls called.
  16. First of all I want to congratulate LA on a well deserved win. You made the plays and adjustments and was just the better team yesterday. Having said that our best rebounder and defender down low hurt his back two minutes into the game which really hurt our interior defense. LA took complete advantage and that was a big difference. We will be back as we only lose 1 player and have several young kids that will get better. Good luck to LA today but I see a Hamilton and probably Stratford Championship but wouldn’t count out Fulton.
  17. We will see RebelRon. I just hope our kids don’t get caught up in being there. We’re really young so who knows but we get by the first round you never know. This team reminds me of the 65 team that nobody expected to even be in the state tournament and they finished Runner-up.
  18. #3 will be just fine. He just needs to help make his teammates better. If he does that and we shoot it good watch out... Remember he is just a sophomore. Also you better get us this year because we will be very good the next 3 years.
  19. You can have your National exposure, I want a state championship. That's the only thing that really matters. Apparently your knowledge of teams outside of Memphis is kneel. Everyone on here knows Memphis has excelled in basketball the last 25 years and your probably right that the Memphis school should be the favorites. All I was trying to say is district 4 (region2) has always done well in the state tournament. If you look at the last 30 years in 2AA, I believe district 2 has had the most team in the state tournament than any other district. Might want to check that out. Also we have won games over national ranked opponents before. It was a few years ago but we did make the USA Today paper for winning a Christmas Tournament in Orlando. We were the best team in 2AA that year but wasn't healthy when we rolled into the state tournament.
  20. Crow appreciate that and can you give us a scouting report on LA?
  21. Alcoa and Fulton has just as much tradition if not more than Hamilton.
  22. Can't argue with your picks but region 2AA is very competitive and usually has a very good team year to year. Strength of schedule for Alcoa and Fulton are higher than their competitors. I would think one of these teams would win their opening round game but anything is possible. 6 of our losses came against Fulton, Powell, and Webb. All state qualifiers in their respective classifications. We have wins against Grace Christain, Fulton, and Maryville. If we wasn't so young I would definitely pick us to win but who knows how we'll react once we start playing. We start 1 senior, 2 juniors and 2 sophomores. We have 4-5 freshman that typically play and 2 juniors as well. Freshman class is very good. Having said that my picks to opening round. Hamilton Alcoa Fulton Stratford
  23. Rebelron that 1994 team was really good. They won a Christmas tournament in Florida that year and beat 2 teams ranked 7th and 15th in the country. I believe one of those teams had Duante Cullpepper on it if I'm not mistaken. That team wasn't healthy at the end of the year, which was very unfortunate. They should have won it in 1992. Lost in the Championship game to Union City. Heartbreaker!
  24. I'm so proud of these young kids. Not sure too many people thought we would be here this year but here we are.
