  1. If this winds up being factual, then at least 1 team from 5A & 6A will be from Clarksville.
  2. All Clarksville schools, except Montgomery Central, should have gone 6A. That would be 6 schools plus maybe add Dickson Co and have a good 7 team region.
  3. Postpone the championship game as long as needed. Georgia and Texas both are playing state championship AFTER Christmas. Oh no, what about basketball? Don't think they are worried unless basketball cancels AGAIN.
  4. Think one of those C'ville NW was supposed to be NE. NE might be better off going 6A with CHS, WCHS, RHS and either the Sumner Co schools or DCHS and 2 WC schools.
  5. How would the Alabama method work in Tennessee?
  6. Wonder if NEHS will move up and join Clarksville HS, Rossview HS and West Creek HS in 6A?
  7. West Ridge 2020 totals say less than 1500.
  8. Love reading all of this back and forth. How about the Shelby County Public Schools, they don't get to play a single game all season. At least Metro gets to play some games.
  9. Did I read this correctly, the Green Wave is 3-4? AND THEIR 3 WINS ARE A RESULT OF COVID-19 WINS? Say it aint so Joe!
  10. 4 public classes and 2 private classes, 72-3 schools for each D-1 class and 22-23 schools for each D-2 class.
  11. What a flip-flop of Regions 4 & 5. Why would you have Shelbyville and Coffee Co playing in Region 5 instead of Region 4?
  12. Didn't I say that I wasn't sure about locations? Flip the 2 or 3 most eastern located to Region 3 and leave the western schools to Region 4. You can put all of the schools in Murfreesboro in Region 3 if you want. How about having only 4 classes, 73+/- schools in each class. Then you have the same number of classes as you have for basketball, baseball, softball. The problem with that is 4A would go from 1290 to 2800+. Do what Texas does, split 4A into large and small, 36 or so, in each class. Or leave 73 and have bowl games where both schools and TSSAA get a piece of the gate as well as the sponsor of the bowl game. Pay ticket sellers/ticket takers off the top, officials off the top, each team gets 30% of the gate, TSSAA gets 25%, bowl sponsor gets 15%. Tickets are $5 each for school age and above, no TSSAA/TACA passes allowed, no local teacher passes allowed, give each school 25 tickets to use at their discretion. Just a thought!
  13. Region 1 > D-B, Jeff Co, Mo East, Science Hill, Bearden (5) Region 2 > Farragut, Hardin Valley, Bradley Co, Cleveland, Maryville, Wm. Blount (6) Region 3 > Coffee Co, Cookeville, Shelbyville, Warren Co. Blackman, Oakland, Riverdale (7) Region 4 > Antioch, Cane Ridge, LaVergne, Smyrna, Stewarts Creek, Siegel, Rockvale (7) Region 5 > Beech, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Lebanon, McGavock (5) Region 6 > Franklin, Independence, Ravenwood, Summitt, Centennial (5) Region 7 > Brentwood, Overton, Dickson Co, Clarksville, Rossview, West Creek (6) Region 8 > Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville, Cordorva, Germantown, Houston, Whitehaven, White Station (8) 49 schools > 11 in East Tennessee / 30 in Middle Tennessee / 8 in West Tennessee You can move schools around in Regions 3 - 7, but I was trying to group them based on geography and I'm not certain some locations.
  14. Why not re-classify and try to match up with as many surrounding states as possible? There has to be some teams from Ky, NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, Arkansas that would be willing to cross the border and play. Have no clue if its possible but worth looking into.
  15. HTV, don't they still play the games at Cowboys Stadium. I don't think they close the stadium unless snow or snow, but I could be wrong. I have been there on a cold day and the roof was not closed but that was a few years ago. I'm hearing many schools are looking at ending in-person classes at Thanksgiving and taking finals on line. My guess is that Texas principals don't have their jobs tied to test scores OR THEY HAVE EXAMS AFTER CHRISTMAS.
  16. As I have stated before, Georgia starts or last year started the exact same weekend we did and they ended 1 week later than Tennessee because they have 2 open dates. Not exactly sure but Texas plays their state championship game 2 weeks after Tennessee. They have more classes including 6 or 8 man football and I'm sure they still play basketball and wrestle in those two states. Tennessee, without COVID-19 rearing its ugly head this year, could have played game 1 on September 4th and finished on December 17, 18, 19. Yes weather is cold in December and could snow, 'Boro in 2000 or so, but that is not an every year occurrence for snow during BCB weekend.
  17. Of the plans that I have read about and mentioned by howdoitknow, I think the 8 game season with a 16 team playoff is the best. You would probably have great games when you match 1 v 2 from the regions and those gates, barring bad weather, could potentially make up for blow out games that wouldn't be well attended.
  18. Georgia starts when we do and finishes 1 week later than we do. Texas ends the same weekend as the proposal above. Doesn't hurt their basketball.
  19. I started coaching in Savannah, Ga. , in 1973. We had 5 days of helmets only, 5 days of helmets & shoulder pads, then the 3rd week we put on full pads. We had no jamborees and no spring scrimmages with other schools. They changed that in 77 or 78 to allow spring scrimmages. Currently Georgia starts the exact same date as we did in Tennessee and ended their State Championship series the week AFTER Tennessee ended their Blue Cross games...2 OPEN DATES! Didn't seem to bother basketball. J/S
  20. When ever your system had graduation date and end of school, you should be good to go. I would like to think TSSAA would look into some days in June for full pad workouts, i.e., M-W-F's for 2-3 weeks, prior to dead period that would take the place of spring practice.
  21. If I understand the TSSAA rule correctly, coaches can meet by Zoom when their school system would "normally" end.
