  1. Exactly why I don't write crap like this before games. Makes you look like you don't know jack about football. BOoGeR jUs SaYiNg guys
  2. Back to football if anyone wants to report back what they've seen tonight. I'm just going off scores, I covered the Marshall County-Stone Memorial game. Forrest and Eagleville both did what I predicted. Did Eagleville's QB play or what? Not surprised in the least about the Waverly-Summertown score. But I def wouldn't have predicted Lewis County to go down this early. That def surprised me. Thoughts? Analysis anyone?
  3. In all fairness, tradition is great. It's really good for being able to be able to keep kids wanting to be part of something successful year in and year out. And no one wants to be part of the class the puts a gap in the tradition. Its the foundation of a powerhouse. It can intimidate certain opponents to an extent. It helps keeps depth high. But it's not kryptonite. In 2017 when Cornersville beat Lake County in the semi-finals, that program had not only never had a home playoff win prior to the start of that seasons playoff run, they had never won a SINGLE PLAYOFF GAME. Cornersville in one of the oldest schools in the midstate and they had only been to the playoffs SIX TIMES in probably close to a century of existence. Think about that. 0-6 before 2017 and then they beat historically powerful programs Bruceton, Huntingdon and Lake County. In 2018 they beat all these programs on the road for their first ever road playoff wins. Not taking anything away from your program by any means. Everyone knows Lake County is a 1A institution in both basketball and football. By history does more internally for a program than it does externally to an opponent. Basically, it's good for fans bragging rights on boards like these. But in reality it all comes down to what happens right now, in these playoffs. Until the early 2000's Forrest was one of the smallest schools in 1A in a region dominated by Moore County, Wayne County and Spring Hill with Huntland, Collinwood and Mount Pleasant always threatening a deep run. Cornersville and Columbia Academy used to be 6-1A doormats. With the population explosion inside central middle Tennessee at the end of the 20th century and in the first couple decades of the the new millennium, Spring Hill went all the way to 5A until settling in 4A and Forrest is a pretty big 2A school, which has apparently suited them better. They have been a constant threat in 2A since the move up and have consistently made the second round with some tough, close losses before finally getting a quarterfinal. To those of us with whom tradition matters, Forrest is carving out a nice reputation as a 2A power. Only two teams finished with 10-0 records in 2A. Forrest and Peabody. Let's not pretend that doesn't mean anything. If it was easy to do and wasn't a big deal, there would be 9-10 of them. And in reality, it DOES matter in the playoffs because home field advantage matters in the playoffs. Home field is often times the difference between a win and a loss. IF and that's a huge IF Forrest makes the semi-finals this year, home field will help because Chapel Hill packs the stadium and the student section is rowdy. The town is a ghost town during games. We all know that kind of support helps. And contrary to what a couple posters wrote, I'm not underestimating Peabody. I watched them twice last season and they are a team full of studs. I'm simply saying, I've covered TN High School football long enough to know that sure bets get beaten EVERY year. And as a fan, I'm not going to say it can't be done. Just like I wouldn't expect any Peabody fans to say anything different.
  4. Did you watch the Forrest/Lawrence County game? LC is absolutely terrible. Hideous. So in my opinion, even getting beat by LC is getting the snot beaten out of them. LC went 0-5 in their region including to 1-9 Spring Hill to end the year. As far as the Portland game goes, a 2A team beating a good 4A team is amazing. Throw out the halftime score. Portland is in the 4A playoffs. They beat the #10 (AP) ranked Montgomery Central (7-3) and White House (5-5) and barely lost to #9 (AP) Springfield (7-3) 27-12 and White House-Heritage (7-3) 35-31, both 4A playoff participants. IMO, Eagleville will probably beat Houston County in the first round. There is a reason they are 9-1 but only ranked #10. They play in a weak region and had a weak schedule. All their wins came against 1A and 2A teams. They didn't challenge themselves very much outside of region and that hurts you come playoff time. I see Forrest, Peabody, Meigs and Watertown in the final four. Will they beat Peabody? I have no idea. Just depends on how much momentum each team's playoff runs give them. Can they beat Peabody? Most def. If you go by the west Tenn and Peabody fans on this site, you might as well hand Peabody the gold ball now. But if you go by the fans on this site, there was no way Cornersville was going to beat Huntingdon in 2017. Then there was no way in heck they were going to beat Lake County the next week. We all know how that went. Then in 2018 there was no way Cornersville would be able to beat Huntingdon AT Huntingdon and then there was no way in heck they could beat Lake County IN Tiptonville. Then there was no way Whitwell would be able to slow down the Cornersville train of destiny in Cookeville. We all know how that turned out as well. Point being, fans from each school and then fans from each region are going to talk their team then their area of the state up as unbeatable. I've watched enough Tennessee playoff football to know there will be 1 or 2 big upsets in the first two rounds, but generally the #1 and #2 seeds will do their job. If they don't, it won't have anything to do with talent. But once you get into the quarters, all bets are off. All the teams still standing have a shot. Forrest has good enough coaching combined with talent and depth that they should meet Peabody in the semis. In a game that big, in Chapel Hill, they will have a shot.
  5. I mean lets be honest. Look at the schedules. I cover Marshall County. Hickman County got the snot beaten out of them by one of the worst Lawrence County teams I have seen in years. Forrest beat two 4A teams easily. If both teams play to their potential Forrest wins easy, In both first and second rounds. I get sticking up for your team but anyone who isn't from Hickman County that is on here thinking the Rockets will have trouble in the first round is just trolling. You don't go undefeated with that schedule and not be a legitimate threat to go all the way.
  6. totally agree with you on this one. Scratching my head on how a team that played in a 2 OT game was dominate just because they controlled time of possession. If your team held the ball for 75% of the game, ran 37 more plays than the other team but only produced a 100 more yards, and the score at the end of regulation is tied, that is the exact antithesis of domination. It's really the exact opposite of domination.
  7. I mean you are actually proving his point by posting these stats. It took UC 72 plays to come up with 323 yards and Tyner only ran 35 plays to come up with 221 yards. A dominant game isn't out gaining someone by 100 yards on 37 more plays. Eight more total first downs isn't domination. Especially if those first downs didn't give you a point advantage. And also UC held the ball for 18 more minutes than Tyner but they scored the exact same amount of points until the final series. Winning time of possession doesn't mean squat. When Cornersville beat Huntingdon, Huntingdon controlled T.O.P. 36-12. It only matters what you do with that time. UC def won the game and deserved the gold ball, but for anyone to say the Rams were dominated just because UC won the T.O.P. is kind of ridiculous. Just my two cents from someone not associated with either team in any way.
  8. The Cornersville team that just beat you guys have been playing together since they were in peewee. Sorry.
  9. So said the Huntingdon fans and Lake County fans before each game. Cornersville is too small. Cornersville doesn't have any athletes, they can't match up....blah blah blah.
  10. You don't know anything about the Cornersville team besides the game you saw last year in the playoffs. That's the extent of your knowledge. I think that's why so many Cornersville folks are getting sick of you jumping on every Cornersville thread and saying Huntingdon is going to mercy rule us when you haven't seen Huntingdon or Cornersville play or that 'Lake County's speed is going to give Cornersville trouble' when it didn't give them any trouble and now Greenback is going to beat Cornersville by 1000 points because Greenback beat your team and your team beat us LAST year in the playoffs. And listen, just because you pick the best 4-5 teams in 1A for the past 5 years doesn't make you a prep guru. EVERYONE is picking those teams. Jeez dude, get over yourself. I'm over hearing about how long you have been posting on coacht. Whoop-dy whoo, I worked for coacht before when this site was just getting off the ground, waaayyyyy back in 2001, that's why I get a FREE Plus membership. Didn't see you around back then. Now, does that make me more knowledgeable than you or anyone else? No. Jeeezzzz.
  11. You're kind of dense, huh? He was talking about Cornersville not Greenback.
  12. whatttt? Huntingdon ran the same style offense Cornersville does? They passed 23 times. CV passed 2. Go study some more and get back to us.
  13. If we are going by your predictions Cornersville would be watching the Bluecross Bowl from the stands. Huntingdon was supposed to beat us easily, Lake County was supposed to take us down and now Greenback by 50? You're really good at this huh?
  14. Same here buddy. When I first started covering these boys I knew they were going to be studs, but to get to Cookeville every little thing has to go right and fortunately for this team it has! I actually thought MC would take me to Cookeville before Cornersville but I'm happy to cover a county team either way!
  15. I hope you realize we lost 5 kids. Only four that play significant minutes.
