  1. I like Springfield in this one honestly. Yeah Henry has had a tougher schedule, but Springfield has boat raced everybody they have played, and their one common opponent (Kenwood), Springfield had a more impressive outcome.
  2. I wouldn't go that far. Brentwood has waxed Henry County a couple of times since they started playing again in 2015. But I do agree they've had some good games too, a couple of which have gone in HC's favor.
  3. Hillsboro from 1999-2002 was pretty good. Ended up winning one in '03 though.
  4. I think it's time to quit complaining and just play ball. All the whining is why they keep changing stuff every 2-4 years.
  5. And that sucks, but it still doesn't change the fact that it happens to racial minorities exponentially more than it happens to white people. And I'm of the opinion that this has devolved into more of a poverty issue than a race issue, i.e. a poor white male 20-something from southern Appalachia has about the same chance of succeeding as a poor black male 20-something from inner city Chicago. But even still, those two aren't mutually exclusive. All I'm saying is that where there is smoke, there is usually fire. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc. etc. And yes, bhs is right and then some about red lining, white flight, and urban decadence. Racism goes much deeper than whips, chains, jim crow, and the n-word. But I'm going to stop before this thread gets locked as well.
  6. And the flag should've probably been left in 1969. Racism is still alive and well. It's not like it ended with the civil rights movement, and no matter how much you cover your ears and stomp your feet, that is just a fact. I was born and raised in West TN, but I've never had much use for the rebel flag. I've always seen it as a symbol of this country's dark past, similar to the swastika in Germany. If you need the rebel flag to represent your "southern pride", then chances are you're pretty simple minded. I've also never understood why southerners are so bent on preserving a symbol of a war they LOST. Seems like something I'd want to move on from, especially 150 years after the fact.
  7. Coach probably didn't trust the kicker. Big penalty there.
  8. You'll have to get someone closer to the program to help you out with names. But both RBs are solid. The QB is a very good athlete. They also have a WR that might be the best athlete of the bunch and was just a soph this past year. And I believe the QB has a twin brother who plays DB, some WR, and returns kicks. I've no idea of the college outlooks for any of these players, just saying I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them pull some interest over the next year (or 2). If HC gets some good play in the trenches next year they'll be tough to handle. Skill positions shouldn't be a problem.
  9. No major D1 types (that I'm aware of), but several very solid athletes, a few of whom could garner some interest from smaller schools.
  10. I expect Henry County to be very good next year. I think I read somewhere that they're expecting 15 or 16 starters back? They will be tough, and likely walk through that region.
  11. Assuming they part ways with Clayton, whoever gets that job is walking into a gold mine. They are loaded with talent next year.
  12. I'm gonna go against the grain here and pick Farragut in a "slight" upset. Indy is still very good and a 29 game winning streak speaks for itself, but they've been dancing with the devil these last couple of games. Almost collapsed entirely vs. Cane Ridge last week and then needed a valiant comeback of their own last night.
  13. This will be a fun game. Oakland is one of the better teams I've seen the last several years. Whitehaven has that Memphis speed and swagger about them. I wouldn't be shocked to see it go either way, but Oakland has to be the favorite after putting a whooping on Maryville last night.
