  1. I agree you can't tell a whole lot about scrimmages but you can see talent and Waverly is very talented offensively. I wasn't nearly as impressed with their defense. I think Waverly is my favorite in 2A but I'm not sure they can beat my Mustangs. We're undefeated on thr Majic Carpet and don't plan on that changing anytime soon!
  2. Have a lot of respect for TCA a private that does things right. If everyone acted like TCA there would be no reason to split them up. I'm a Mustang for life and have grandson going to Trinity and am super impressed with the school. Best concession stand I've seen and I've seen a bunch of them.
  3. Heard the Huntingdon Mustangs coming to Covington this week to scrimmage. Don't know day or time but promise you it will be competitive!
  4. So how many touchdowns are y'all gonna beat down my little 1A Mustangs. Y'all think your line is big you ought to see Ripley's line. It looks like an NFL line. We scrimmaged them today and handled them pretty easily. We going to have to keep Yalls offense off the field to have a chance. Defending the pass ain't our strong point. We don't lose many games but when we lose its usually by getting beat deep. Should be a great game like last year.
  5. This Mustang attended the scrimmage and Wayne Co looked ok. Kinda hard to judge you when you're playing possibly the two best double A teams in the state. Wildcat's line was big and aggressive. Skill position wise you could use a little more speed. Utilized a short passing game effectively. QB didn't seem to have a cannon but was accurate and composed. Looks like in my opinion a solid team. Only negative I see is team speed. Waverly was able to throw over your head but their gonna do that to a lot of folks. Waverly is so impressive. Having nightmares thinking of how my Mustangs can slow the Tigers down on Mustangs Majic Carpet!
  6. Yalls guy might be the fastest player in the state but my vote for the quickest payer in the state goes to Daquon Robinson of Huntingdon. You can't tackle him in a phone booth. Electricfying
  7. After watching Waverly and Union City scrimmage today Waverly is my #1. Their air game is superb. Neither Union City or Wayne Co could slow them down. They scored at will!
  8. We'll see how it plays out but Stangs could be better. Deepest team we've had in a while. We lost 6 or 7 kids that started or played a lot but a strong junior class is really starting to kick in. We'll be as good offensively as our new QB. He's very talented but also very raw. He just needs a few games under his belt which he won't have when the Tigers come to town! Y'all gonna be jealous when you see these 1a facilities! I'm ready to kick it off. Scrimmage Ripley at home Friday!
  9. Just got back from practice. We should be pretty good. New QB has a chance to be special. RB's are small but very quick. Offensive line larger and pretty athletic. WR's have good speed. Defense could be nasty. Linebackers are as good as you'll find in single A. DB's are quick and aggressive. Lost our best d-lineman to an ACL, though he's trying to play. Maybe we can compete with y'all.
  10. Been a minute since Waverly has come to Mustang country. Looking forward to watching y'all run on the Mustangs Majic Carpet. Two teams with great speed on carpet should be a pretty exciting game! We have nice visitors bleachers also
  11. Mustangs were very talented skill position wise last season. Our line was small. We didn't play a team all year that was smaller than us. It took a big agressive defensive line like Cornersville to stop us. As far as winning gold balls in the last century I wonder how many Mustang teams in the 50's & 60's before playoffs would have won a gold ball 1950 10-1, 1956 10-1, 1957 10-0, 1958 10-1, 1960 10-1, 1961 9-1, 1962 10-1, 1964 10-1, 1966 11-0, 1968 7-0-2, Probably would have got couple in those tears. Some great teams that played tough schedules.
  12. Pearson was a great player, much respect to him. Ensley our Jr. starter this season is just as athletic ( commited to Tennessee in baseball) has a very strong arm and is a winner! I think he's a D1 prospect at safety. Our running backs are small, fast and shifty. As far as the Mustangs falling short the last couple of years you can't win them all. We've been there a number of times and we'll be back. As far as the War Eagles you can dream of a gold ball but you'll never see one in your lifetime!
  13. Huntingdon has a rough road to get to the semis. Wayne Co and Cornersville both have good returning squads plus region 5 has some tough teams. Region 5&6 are a little tougher than 7&8 top to bottom.
  14. Huntingdon lost 6 starters off last years team including our QB. Very talented junior class anchors this team. Offensive line will be larger but running backs though very fast are a little lite in the butt. New QB is fast and tough with good size. Needs to work on his throwing motion but should excell. Defense could be nasty. Linebackers expererienced and aggresive. Lots of team speed. I wouldn't sit on the Mustangs. May be a better team than last years!
  15. Of course I'm butt hurt. I'm always butt hurt if my Mustangs don't win their last game. It's all about winning that last game. If you don't win the last game you may have had a good season but not a great one. I feel like we should have won that last game in a couple of sports in the last few years. Yep I'm big time butt hurt!
  16. Have a lot of respect for Cornersville. They out hit my Mustangs and were very well coached. But to say it wasn't an upset is crazy. Look at the stats. I saw Lake County play against TCA and Dresden. Both sloppy multi turnover games. Huntingdon 3 TDs better than Lake County last season. You butt sniffers over in Milan are just butt hurt. What's plain and is simple is how the Mustangs dominated the puppies last season. Your Huntingdon legacy is the only player that showed up last year. September 21st can't get here soon enough. Mustangs will be on par with last years team. Defense can be extremely nasty.
  17. Said the same thing about Huntingdon last year. The Ambassador curse! Very tough to stay focused when everyone is patting you on the back and telling you how good you are. Greenback coaches have a tough job keeping their team focused all year!
  18. In west Tennessee I've seen Lexington and Southside. Both are impressive.
  19. You can't coach a herd of gazelles like they are a herd of elephants!
  20. Greenfield, Summertown, Gibson Co, Dresden and Gleason are all going to be great next year. Hate to tell but us Fillies over here in Carroll Co are planning on whooping all of you. Gonna whoop you in softball too! Can't wait
  21. I think the best team won. Greenfield is the class of 1a this year. Moore i think is the best player in A ball. Can you repeat. Won't be easy. Had that chip on your shoulder his year. It's gone. Can you repeat with everybody telling you how good you are and expecting you to win it again. It'll take a great coaching job.
  22. I think Huntingdon had the most athletic team the last 2 years. Won 1 game
  23. #45 Reed didn't play a lot of meaningful minutes this season. Fillies sophomores #45 Reed #24 Fuller and #11 Swenson are fast and athletic and should be fun to watch the next few years. We don't develop them as fast as the Weakley co schools do so our upside is very promising. Our football youth programs are as good as any in west Tennessee seems like our basketball could learn from that.
  24. Best team won. Greenfields pressure defense disrupted the Fillies offense. Jackets played much better than they played against Pickett co. Pretty smooth running machine tonight. Greenfield plays like they played tonight I think they will take the gold ball home but they are going to have to play well to beat a very good Summertowm team. # 24 a budding star. You can't teach speed like that!
  25. Greenfields old gray haired assistance coach Durden. How much is he involved with the suscess of your team. He was Greenfields boys coach when I played 50 years. Great coach have lots of respect for him.
