  1. That’s the key. I’ve been told that there is a zero tolerance for any profanity this year. Things get heated, it’s an emotional game, and even the best of us can let loose with an inappropriate word. But from what I understand, if the refs hear it, it’s a flag, no questions asked. I have no idea if that’s what took place here, but I’d lay some good odds on it. It’s a tough lesson for sure.
  2. TC... watch the WTvsG’ville film TC should win by a comfortable margin.
  3. Hopefully a good “get healthy” game after the knock down drag ‘em out game we had with TC. Still have to come ready to play. But I don’t see these boys overlooking anybody. They have that look in their eye. Hopefully we have a good game plan in place even with the injuries. Too many good athletes on this team to become one dimensional. We have a ton of talent, we just have to know how to utilize it. Simply handing it off 45 times a game won’t get done against any team.
  4. East Robertson looks improved from last year. Not sure how much improved, but they’ve been building for the past couple of years. I’m glad TC gets them before WT does so we can get an idea of just how much they’ve developed.
  5. Exactly. TC sharpened WT last year, WT did the same thing last night. If they meet again in the playoffs it’s will be a classic. I just hope everyone is healed up from the haymakers that were thrown by both sides last night.
  6. Key injuries for both teams going forward. I'm not sure about big #72 for TC. Hope he's okay. WT lost their starting QB in Webster and starting WR/CB in Allison. Not sure the extent of the Allison's injury but it sounded like Webster may have a broken collar bone. He got hit late (which was penalized) which likely broke the bone, he stayed in for three more plays and got nailed again before having to leave the game. Tough kid. I hope they all heal up before the end of the season. The two WT players are both seniors. Would hate for them not to finish the season. Great game tonight. The Creek Bank didn't disappoint. Great atmosphere as usual.
  7. Wow... what a game. Two quality teams playing all night, no quit. Says a lot about both schools. Well done.
  8. So true. Let hope for a great game and everyone staying healthy. We came out of last nights game fairly unscathed. I think one player might have had a turn ankle. Hopefully nothing serious. I’ve always loved coming to Hartsville for games. It’s a great atmosphere.
  9. This is by far the most physical Purple Tiger team I've seen in the past 10 years. They swarm to the ball on Defense and rarely go down on first contact on Offense. Very disciplined, they don't beat themselves with penalties, at least not yet, the season is young. They have frustrated the heck out of the two teams they've played so far. They allow their opponents to loose their heads and don't retaliate. So far they have met two RB's who were both Mr. Football finalists last year (and possibly this year). Both are really good players but neither found their stride against this "no place to run and no place to hide" defense. #5 Hvlick for MJCA was frustrated all night on both sides of the ball. He broke one 80 yard TD stat grab run against Watertown's JV defense. Other than that I think he maybe had 20 or 30 yards total. In the Gordonsville game the Purple Tiger defense held a 2000 yard rusher from last year in #28 Givens to a total of 38 yards. Nearly half of those yarsd came on one 16 yard romp against the 2nd team D. Neither team was able to get much going in the air either against a very disciplined, opportunistic and hard hitting Purple Tiger secondary. They have had two pick-sixes in as many games. Special teams play at a high level as well. Two kick off returns and (if I am remembering it correctly) two punt returns for TD's, one of each, in each game. They stay in their lanes and then swamp to ball on coverage. Next week will be the real test. Trousdale is the real deal. Great team, well coached, great home crowd. They've had two tough tests in an up and coming Lebanon Team and last year's State Champs in Friendship. As much as my heart wants H2O-town to take down the Jackets, my head can't say for sure who will take this one, at least not yet. Whichever team does, will deserve it. It should be epic.
  10. First of all major props to players for both teams. Each game in this series has been a classic. Forrest does what it does, run, run , run, run and then run... And they do it very well. Although they passed more this game than I've seen them pass in the past two years combined. Their players are tough, they play with an edge, and it's obvious they spend a lot time in the weight room. Regardless of their record, Forrest is a good team, easily second best team Watertown has played this year, with Trousdale being the best in my opinion. The Watertown players won this game. Their will and never say die attitude was apparent all game, regardless of some ineffective play calling. For most of the game Watertown did the same thing over and over and over again with little to show for it other than some torn up grass between the 30s. But, the Purple Tigers finally started changing things up on their last drive. Both Defenses played a great game. The Watertown D forced two Forrest fumbles inside the the Purple Tiger 5 yard line. Obviously these plays saved the game for Watertown. Forrest scored on their first drive with a methodical march that started at the Purple Tiger 30 and ended with a TD that took nearly 8 minutes off the clock. Watertown scored on their last drive that included a gutsy 4th down run by #24 Zack Hill and 65 yard bomb from #16 Brice Webster to #21 Brandon Allison to get the Purple inside the 5. After a (in my opinion) questionable personal foul for a late hit set Watertown back 15 yards, another pass from Webster to Allison got Watertown inside the 10. A good hard run by #6 Keon Dotson got the Purple inside the 5. Then #25 Heath Price took the game over out of a Wildcat set scoring with 27 seconds left in the game. Initially the coaches were holding up one finger indicating a PAT attempt, but the players wouldn't have it. The players were all yelling GO, GO, GO! The coach must have heard them, we did in the stands, and called his last time out. They designed another Wildcat run for Heath Price to run in the ball in for the 2 Point conversion behind some awesome blocking that opened up a hole wide enough to drive a golf cart through. Forrest was then forced to get outside their identity and attempt to throw the ball down field with 20 seconds left in the game. A sack and two incompletions later and the game was concluded with a 8-7 Watertown win. Another classic by both teams.
