  1. It will be Greenfield's run game vs. Dresden passing attack. I am interested to see the freshman quarterback that everyone is saying looked so good last week. If the freshman can get Lockhart the ball, Dresden should be able to score some points because he is a very good WR. I still think though that Dresden will struggle to stop Keylon Thomas and company on the ground and I think that will be the difference. I am taking taking Greenfield by 1 or 2 TD's.
  2. They had a lot of speed and ran a very difficult offense to defend. They will be a tough out come playoff time. Proud of our boys and how they competed. Our quarterback went out in the first half with a leg injury, but we kept fighting and pulled out a win. Now on to the county rivalry game against Dresden.
  3. What do you think about this game? Greenfield has played well through 3 games. I don't know much about Memphis Middle College, but they are 3-0 and I have heard they have some good athletes. Does anyone know more about them?
  4. Greenfields bread and butter is running the ball, but we do have a QB this year that can throw the ball. We are not one dimensional like we were last year. Our pass defense is actually the strength of our defense this year, as we have 3 seniors and 1 junior in the secondary. I think this should be a really good game! Greenfield is playing some good ball right now and Coach Knott for South Fulton always has a well coached team on the field.
  5. He graduated and is playing at Bethel University this year. Our big play maker this year will be Jr. RB/LB Keylon Thomas. We have some other good athletes to go along with him and have a QB this year. Our offense of using Nyrail (4.3 guy) as the QB worked against a lot of teams, but backfired in the playoffs with a team that had better team speed. Our inability to throw the ball and keep the defense honest killed us against Freedom Prep in the 2nd half. I think we should have a pretty good year, but how both lines of scrimmage play this year will decide whether we have a playoff run this year or not. There is no 4.3 speed on the team this year to make up for missed blocks. I haven't seen the team yet this year though, so all of these opinions are based off of last year. I'm interested to see how we look this year.
  6. Summertown has some very good young players. They will be back in the tournament for several years to come. Gibson County did what Gibson County does. They play great team defense, slow the game down, and score enough to win. They remind me a lot of the old Gleason teams.
  7. Possum stomp? It was a 5 point victory when Edie Darby was out due to a stress fracture. I’m not even sure that guy is a Greenfield fan, but either way, that was an ignorant statement from that guy. We need to focus on beating a good Loretto team before we start talking about beating anyone in the championship game.
  8. Thunderbolt Broadcasting's Facebook page had a live stream last year. Hopefully they will do it again this year.
  9. So what you're saying is, no matter who has played at a location more, the better team will win. You literally just made the argument that it doesn't matter that 13A is playing at UTM for districts. You just said that even though y'all practiced at GC gym every day and played half of your games there, that there was no advantage, because the best team won in the end. To get to my point of view, I agree that it may give a slight advantage to 13A, but not enough to make a difference, especially after we would have to go back to a high school gym for the first round of regional's and get accustomed to that gym again. The greater advantage would be to have it at your home court where all of your fans will be packing the house every game. Gibson County travels well anyways, but if you have it at home, you have everyone in the fan base there, as opposed to 50-75%. In the end, it's just better for 13A to have the tournament at UTM because even our biggest gym in the district can't handle the crowds from all four schools. It was standing room only in Gleason last year and the UTM gym was filled up pretty good Wednesday night, when several people missed the game because of church. At the end of the day, having regional's at UTM will give everyone plenty of room and the best teams will win regardless.
  10. She is the younger sister of #10 Tess Darby. She just came back a week or two ago from a hairline fracture somewhere in her leg. Once she gets back to 100%, people will be talking about her too. She played a big part on last years team as an 8th grader after she moved up mid-year. In the junior high county championship game last year, we beat Martin Middle 34-31 and she had 32 points. She has the ability to score with the best of them, but so far in high school she has been more of a ball handler and defensive player because Chloe and Tess take care of a big part of the scoring.
  11. My observation of the season so far is that Greenfield probably has the best starting 5 in the state (I know I'm biased, but still). We have 3, maybe even 4 girls that will go on to play in college somewhere, with 2 of them definitely going D-1. What scares me about this years team though is our bench isn't as strong as last year. Our bench consist of one junior that just started playing last year because she is 6 ft. and the coach talked her into playing, and a bunch of freshmen and eighth graders. Once Edie Darby got hurt in the first game of the year, we struggled to have people to sub in to give the starters a break, as we only went 2 deep before she got hurt. When Edie came back for the Crockett County game, we looked like a completely different team and she's not even back to 100% health yet. Our season this year will come down to can we stay healthy and can we stay out of foul trouble. Gibson County is the best single A team we have played so far this year. They don't have any one player that can just take over a game, but they go probably about 10 deep with all 10 being able to hit 3's, handle the ball, and play great defense. I would like to get another shot at Gibson County in the Christmas tournament with us being back at full strength to see how we fair. Either way though, it will be fun to see how the region shapes up this year.
  12. How are the teams looking in the region so far this year?
  13. We need to rename this thread lake county vs. freedom prep, because not one greenfield fan (other than this post) has even posted on here and it’s causing all kinds of drama in the CoachT world lol.
  14. It should be labeled the lake county and freedom prep message board. No Greenfield fan has even posted on there lol
  15. 14-0 LC at halftime. Line of scrimmage is the story of the game so far. Their defense is in the backfield before we can get going on offense. Also, their offensive line is pushing us around. Hopefully we make some adjustments during halftime and make this a game in the 2nd half.
  16. A guy on our team, Nyrail Jackson, ran a 4.3 - 40 yard dash at a combine at Bethel University.
  17. If you took my comments as I think we are the superior team, then you misunderstood. I believe y'all are the favorites with your mix of size and speed, which is rare in single A. Coach Puckett has done a fantastic job of taking the talent that Lake County has always had and developing it into a top tier team. I was simply stating our strengths and the keys to the game.
  18. It's true! He did it twice at a camp at Bethel University. He's a special talent!
  19. They aren't big guys. Grant is probably 6' - 160 lbs. and Keylon is probably 5'7" - 150, but they are tough kids. They won't run over people like a Tyronne Jones from Dresden or the South Fulton back, but they don't shy away from contact either and usually don't get brought down by arm tackles.
  20. It will interesting to see how our defense holds up against LC, especially the running back. Our defense has played very well so far this year, but we have to continue that against one of the best offenses in the state. Also, it will be interesting to see how LC handles the speed of Nyrail Jackson, Grant Huffstetler, and Keylon Thomas. Nyrail gets most of the headlines (and deservedly so) because of his incredible 40-time, but Grant and Keylon aren't that much slower and they run tough. I know LC always has speed, so it will be interesting to see if we can still break off those long runs like we have been doing. This should be a fun one! Also, I'm looking forward to the all-you-can-eat catfish at Boyette's! That's one of my favorite meals!
  21. The 4 seniors will definitely be missed this year with each of them paying big roles on last year's team. Because of that, I think depth will be the biggest factor with our team this year. Our starting five will be very strong with Chloe Moore (Junior), Tess Darby (Junior), Edie Darby (Freshman), Reese Biggs (Sophomore), and Caroline Crouse (Sophomore). Each of these girls either started or played a lot on last year's team. No one else on the team has much high school game experience. Besides the starters, we have one senior (which missed all of last year with an injury), one junior (who started playing basketball last year), one sophomore, and the rest are freshmen. If a couple of these girls can come into the game and play good defense and rebound (and I think they will), we should be have a good chance at returning to the glass house. However, we better not expect any team in our district or region to just roll over for us. We have to play a lot of good teams before we get back to Murfreesboro!
  22. Greenfield vs. Pickett Co. - Wed. @ 4:30 Huntingdon vs. Moore Co. - Wed. @ 6 Wartburg vs. Unaka - Thurs. @ 10 Dresden vs. Summertown - Thurs. @ 11:30
  23. Judging by past posts, you are a Huntingdon fan. Not sure why you want to get on here and stir up junk. If you want to become a Greenfield fan, you need to lose the arrogant comments. There’s a difference between being confident in your team and being an arrogant jerk!
