  1. UC has some quality athletes. Sloppy play tonight though. They STILL can't defend the pass. From what I've seen, they don't have the coaching to make it to Chattanooga. But best of luck.
  2. What I'm hearing is UC will struggle to make the playoffs. Big down turn in the program with coaching change.
  3. That is probably accurate. The math says that's an average of 4.06 years per coach. Makes you scratch your head and wonder.
  4. It will likely be someone from outside the area looking for their first HC position. If not, they will have to promote from within (unlikely scenario). As far as building the program back. They must first have a program. No coach has had a long tenure at OC. 7 to 8 years is max there. Seldom are those years above .500. Two coaches that come to mind who had limited success there and extremely successful post OC careers are Pratt and Bowling. OC is not an environment condusive to winning football.
  5. I'm all for a West TN site. BUT, there are no suitable locations. There is no good location in Jackson. UTM parking is bad. Bethel can't accommodate the crowd. Neither Martin or Mckenzie has anything to offer as far as hotels, restaurants, etc. And I wouldn't recommend Memphis for anything. So you've got Middle and East TN for options.
  6. Union City in a big way in this one. BUT BEWARE, the Pilots have a history of getting into fisticuffs. Especially when being embarrassed. Don't want any of the Tornadoes ejected and made ineligible for next week's game.
  7. Let them go. In three years they will be begging the TSSAA to let them back in because they have collapsed under the weight of all the corruption that will take place.
  8. Interesting. The kicker may be the insurance and coaching stipend.
  9. The Union City system is separate from Obion Co, like Milan and Gibson Co. The Union City system pays much better and the majority of the insurance is covered by the school system. He is likely much better off than in Tipton.
  10. Article said more than 60. Last time I checked 150 was more than 60.
  11. My understanding is there were over 150 applicants for the job. Hmmm!?
  12. Not a great hire IMO. Sure your system doesn't change to cut down on learning a new offense, but your system doesn't change. Union City is struggling with numbers. I don't see that changing.
  13. Rumor going around about a Coach Fran from Louisiana is interviewing.
  14. You are correct sir. I miss read. Jokur may very well be correct. The veer is a great offense for teams struggling with talent. It is an equalizer. But I don't see Alabama running it.
  15. I hope he is successful. The veer is a great offense. I agree. I just don't know how well it will work with today's generation of player. If there is little talent at OB like you say, then this move makes more sense.
  16. I think you've hit on something big here. Bowlings offense won't translate well to 6A. And here's why. In 6A you normally have really good athletes and depth. At this level you expect multiple athletes to move on to the next level, whatever that may be. The veer showcases about 3 skills players and a few interior linemen. In 6A you will have multiple good skills players. They're not going to just be slot blockers and decoys for very long before they decide they're not going play any longer. As far as the linemen are concerned, they only run block. Next level coaches want to see how a lineman pass blocks. They won't see that with this offense. Therefore, frustration on their part. Is see players not wanting to play in this offense very long. Just my thoughts on this move.
  17. It was announced this morning that Coach Darren Bowling will be leaving the Union City program. More information and highlights of his career at Union City to come.
  18. That makes since now. As I stated I wasn't at the game and based on the posts it sounded as if the onside kick was done after the running clock started.
  19. If that were the case, the distance of the kick is irrelevant.
  20. I wasn't at the game and don't know the outcome of the Peabody onside kick or how aggressively Peabody's players pursued the ball. But I'm going to have to disagree with Mr Bigswo's and others evaluation of said onside kick. I am pretty sure most are misinterpreting the reasoning behind the kick. Coach Bowling's teams have onside kicked the ball many times over the years while being up BIG. None more than the 2014 team. We all know what kind of team that was. The reason, I believe, is to give the opposing team favorable field position. An act of Mercy, if you will. You can disagree with me or not, but that is my interpretation of that type of onside kick situation.
  21. Tide, I suspect y'all will have a back to back kind of year.
  22. No I haven't. Just word of mouth from people close to the program. Guess we'll all know soon enough.
  23. I know a few people in Teapot town too, but they're not football people.
  24. I know a lot of people in the Ken-Tenn area.
  25. I saw what I saw. Hopefully just heat of the moment stuff, but it didn't look good.
