  1. Yeah I was just naming kids from the 2018 team. I mean, I can’t think of a year in the last 10 years when they didn’t at least have one kid offered a division 1 scholarship. Iron sharpens iron, and when you have a team that consistently produces half a dozen kids a year going on to play at the next level whether that’s NAIA, Div 2, D1AA, D1, there’s only about a dozen other public school programs in the state that produce that type of talent year in and year out. Except they’re not playing non region games against metro schools that are on the verge of getting rid of their program, which is probably why they’re playing for a gold ball every 2-3 years and MJ is not.
  2. Reggie Grimes (Oklahoma) Bryan Aiken (Tennessee) Malik Bowen (Duke) those are just 3 that come to mind off the top of my head. Listen, I wish y’all the best, I wasn’t trying to trash your Coach or your program. Good luck this Friday, and back to more of the point of the post i think MJ is going to give Oakland a tougher game then a lot of people think.
  3. I agree with it being ignorant when grown adults wish upon the downfall of a high school and community. That’s sad..as far as there not being 5-6 D1 players in the last 20 years, I believe there was almost that many on their 2018 team alone. Another crazy stat is that their 04-05’ team had 2 senior players on that same team go on to play in the NFL and they still did not make the playoffs. Call it ill informed or whatever, but it is a known discussion among many people who have played and coached in the Middle Tennessee area that there has been an under utilization of talent at MJ in recent years. It is what it is. I think MJ has a fine program and wonderful community support and I think Trey Perry is a good coach, he’s just not the guy to take them to the next level and myself (along with many others) believe they’re ok with that.
  4. The demographic that falls within the zoning of Mount Juliet has produced just as good of talent as about any other public school in the state of Tennessee. Numerous division 1 Players within the last few years including current players on SEC, Big 12, and ACC team Rosters. I don’t think their issue is “a lack of talent”, it’s a consistent weak schedule that doesn’t prepare them for a deep playoff run. Roger Perry (Who IMO was the best coach MJ has ever had) was able to accomplish way more with less. I believe they have adopted a culture in the T Perry Era that is ok with being mediocre. With that said, they are a great community and I wish them the best, it’s just kind of known that friendships with faculty and family arrangements have cemented that program with T Perry coaching to prevent awkwardness within the community. Plus it’s hard to move on from a Coach when on paper he hasn’t done a bad job but everyone knows that his resume and credentials are boosted by continuously scheduling weaker non region opponents like Glencliff, Hunters Lane, Maplewood, Republic, Ect. Year in and year out which is why multiple times in recent years you’ve seen 9-1/10-0 region champ Mount Juliet teams consistently having 1st and second round playoff exits.
  5. They did, started 0-4 then went on an 11-0 run to State. But I meant in the sense that every loss for them has been within 1 score similar to 2000. Going to be an interesting playoff. Houston, Germantown, Brentwood, Maryville, Brad Central, Bearden, Riverdale, Oakland, & even Jefferson County all have a legit shot at the Gold Ball this year.
  6. 6A seems up for grabs early predictions semi’s Maryville vs Oakland Brentwood vs Germantown Championship Game Maryville vs Brentwood Maryville State Champs getting a lot of 2000 Maryville vibes. 6-4 team with a lot of close losses that went on to win State.
  7. Should be a great game, BC has the potential to win by 3 TD’s but Farragut also is capable of pulling off an upset. They played a Very Good West team to the wire along with an Extremely talented Bearden team. Both games decided by a touchdown. I think it will be 38-28 BC, but should be a fun game.
  8. I believe Lipscomb has 18 Players who currently have D1 Scholarship offers. Aside from the 2 UT Commits, Jon Adair OL has received offers from FSU and Kentucky, Duece Knight QB Alabama/Notre Dame/UT, Chauncey Gooden OL (Georgia/FSU/Clemson), Kris Thompson LB (GA Tech, Maryland, Louisville), CJ Jimcoily Safety (Florida, Arkansas, Louisville), Amir Leornard Jean Charles (Auburn/Georgia/ole Miss), Antonio Carter (Marshall/Troy/MTSU) …Just to name a couple. So they’re a very deep talented team too. I don’t think they’re completely out of the athletic league of IMG. But tonight will settle what’s what.
  9. I’m hoping Duece Knight gets way more comfortable with the offense then we saw in the Blackman scrimmage and they can keep it close, but honestly expecting a 42-24 W For IMG.
  10. Watching beech play twice this year, they are no where as physical as CPA, and Cane Ridge pulled that one out. CR is by no means undersized has the athletes on both sides of the ball. I see them taking this one 42-31.
  11. 45-27 Lipscomb. I think Lipscomb matches up well physically and at the skill positions with Milton. Milton does have a better run game and more depth. Going to be a good match up tonight.
  12. Following both Summit and Oakland all year I think Summit poses a bigger threat then lead on. Oakland has struggled with teams that have a physical O line and A Mobile Quarterback who can throw the ball well. That was proven against Lipscomb, CPA, and honestly Maryville. (And Lipscomb was the only team I saw where I thought they had better athletes, Oakland was just able to pull it out like good teams do) Summit Seems to rival CPA more as far as a match up for Oakland. Summit’s not quite as Physical, but they have an Athletic and Physical QB along with another SEC athlete in the backfield and a heck of a ball player in #13 on both sides of the ball. I see this being a back and forth game and if Summit can limit the mistakes they can really give Oakland a scare. Oakland 35-28.
  13. You mean the 93-95’ Cleveland teams with 180lbs O-Lineman And 160Lbs LB’s to go along with Stepfon Woods? No disrespect to what they did during that era, but I think I’ll Stick to the list of teams loaded with D1 talent that also Dominated.
  14. Top 10 Teams 2012 Ensworth 2011 Maryville 2004 Riverdale 2007 MBA 1996 Brentwood Academy 1994 Riverdale 1993 Lincoln Co 1981 Overton 2009 MUS 2015 Independence
  15. Dominate is a strong word. I will admit I don't believe they will "Dominate" them up front, but they will certainly hold their own up front and be able to drive the ball down the field. I see everyone has taken that word to heart. I'm just saying the size and athleticism of both teams offensive and defensive lines are closely matched, but MJ's overall strength at those positions will give them the edge. Once again, I originally posted in response to a guy claiming MJ had no talent and it was a "Pipe Dream" for them to even compete with Oakland, when on paper and film, they look to be the slightly better team. But what's on paper doesn't play a factor in what happens on the field. I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm just a fan. I think it will be a heck of a game. I will say I am impressed with the talent that has come through Tennessee in the last 10-12 years. I currently live out of state in a place where they believe football is God and that aside from California, Florida, and Texas no one can compete with their talent. Saying this, Broken Arrrow, Union, And Jenks are some of the top teams in my state, and often beat the best teams out of Texas. I believe the level of talent in the state of Tennessee is very underrated and able to compete with some of the best teams in the country.
  16. It will be a heck of a game. Look up highlights of MJ's QB Alvin Mixon And check out some of the throws he's made and the touch he puts on the ball along with his arm strength. I only have the Oakland/Maryville and Oakland/Blackman game to compare the Oakland QB, but based off of those games, he is not the better passer. Anyways, good luck to both teams, would like to see someone from Middle Tennessee take home the 6A Title.
  17. Not basing it off of who has more offers. That is ridiculous. Just responding to the guy who said MJ is average with no talent. Oakland is very talented but I believe they match up well in that category. Woodie Washington (Oklahoma) vs JR. Malik Bowen (offers:Ole Miss, Duke,Memphis) will be a tougher test than the Knox kid from Blackman was. But I think your right, there probably won't be much passing because of how good Oakland's secondary is. MJ's line up front is much stronger and all around team strength is too much considering they can match them with speed. Oakland is extremely talented and MJ has been overlooked all year because of their untested schedule. This will be a great game but why I'm giving them the edge is their team strength. MJ will dominate them up front on both sides of the ball and Oakland doesn't have a quarterback who is accurate enough to expose MJ's holes in their pass defense.
  18. I've watched both Mt. Juliet and Oakland play this season and can say that the talent is evenly matched. If anything, Mt. Juliet has the edge with 4 players receiving Division 1 scholarships and half a dozen more of their starters will play college football at the D2/NAIA level. They're strong up front and have a slew of backs in their arsenal that can pick up tough yards. Their defensive line is dominant and #23 6'4 240lbs Bryan Aiken (who hasn't played football since 8th grade and already received scholarships from Louisville and Memphis with more to come) is one of the most dominant Defensive ends I've seen in high school football in a while. Their weakness is definitely pass defense especially in the Flats. I see MJ pulling this one out though, 31-21.
