  1. I mentioned SH because I think they are the last team to knock them out of making the glass house. But for sure I wouldn’t want to be facing Sevier County in a sectional this year. Who else is in that region?
  2. They will be pretty good but we likely won't know how good until the tourney starts. They don't really play any of the top teams (according to their schedule) unless they face someone in a holiday tourney. But Hodge alone will make them pretty good. Its easy to forget that they took BC to the brink in an instant Glass House classic last year. Yes that was with Treadwell (Ms. Basketball Winner) who is at Florida State now. But Hodge was almost unguardable that game and she is still there. Also its crazy that they have lost 4 games in the last two years and 10 games in the last 4 years! You don't do that unless you are extremely well coached and have a really good team with alot of depth. Farragut will be a good measuring stick but it will interesting to see who comes out of the east this year. It would be hard to not have them at the top of the list based on the last 4 years. Can Science Hill or Sevier County knock them out?? Maybe!
  3. It was a good game. End of the game was pretty bad for the Cavs. York went up 2 pts with like 53 seconds left. And Cookeville didn’t get a shot off in the final 53 seconds. I can’t call that last one a shot. It was more of a desperation throw. A lot of that had to do with great pressure defense by York and poor execution by the Cavs. In both of Cookeville losses, they had a bad first quarter. You can’t give a good team a 14 pt lead in the first quarter and win most nights. But also in both losses Cookeville never stopped fighting and left it all on the court. Great game by York though! They played very well. Even when Cookeville made the run and took the lead late in the 4th, York made a key steal on the press, offensive rebound on FT, and clutch game winner by the toughest player on the court. Big time players make big time plays in big time games.
  4. York vs Cookeville will be a battle. Two of the best teams in the UC regardless of class. You can watch the game on Upper Cumberland Reporter on Facebook if you don’t make the trip to Jamestown.
  5. Have they played anyone that put a lot of pressure on the guards yet? I think Cumberland County and Upperman will put a lot of pressure on them and we will see pretty quick. If they don’t throw the ball all over the place they should make a run at first place. Nobody in district will stop Reid.
  6. It wasn't at Cookeville but it wasn't at Central either. It was at Roane State. We played well on defense but we couldn't hit anything until late in the game. I think at one time in the 4th both teams were a combined 2-21 from 3! We don't give up many leads late in the game like we did in OT. I know for sure that we would like to run those last 2 minutes back. But McMinn is the real deal. If you haven't seen them you need to. I think Cookeville, Coffee, and Bradley will likely be 3 of the top 5 4A teams. So that gives you an idea of how good McMinn is! I really like the way they play on both sides of the court. Fun team to watch play. Not so much if you are trying to guard them!
  7. I think it was at Pittman but it will still be a close game at Central. Two REALLY good teams.
  8. They definitely won’t lose many! But that Pittman game will be a big one too.
  9. You do realize that if the high school is in the same building as 8th grade they likely need those 8th graders to field a competitive team because that is a very small school. In that case I would bet more than 95% of those kids are going to that high school anyway which doesn’t create any advantage at all. This is not the same for counties with multiple high schools being able to add a 8th grader to a roster. This would set off a firestorm of recruiting middle school players to get them locked to a high school. This will create a bigger problem than we have now.
  10. Now part of that we can agree on. They are good and I would pick them to win their district. Now that other part….. naaahh.
  11. The only people saying that anyone would dominate this series is always Upperman fans. I am realistic. I know what I see on the court and it would be a great matchup. Two well coached teams that get after it on defense. If you want to go back and compare records over a long period of time then you are comparing two different divisions which really isn't a fair comparison. I didn't argue that Cookeville had a better record over that time. I said that this series would be close. I don't want to take the time to add it up but I would say that White county likely has a better record than Cookeville over the last 20 years but they also have a losing record vs Cookeville. (insert bakery jokes here) We can only guess right now on what this matchup would have been like in the past. But the guessing ends once they lace them up and step across the lines. Then its just facts. If you like basketball you should want this series because it would be an AMAZING battle. It would be a great matchup that any basketball fan would enjoy. And the kids would enjoy it the most which is what its all about. Maybe next year.... Now back to our regular season. Good luck UC teams!
  12. I knew that would be a close game. Both teams are really good.
  13. Ahh so it was worse than final score showed.
  14. Their speed is a problem for both Pickett and Clarkrange. But I don’t think they beat PC by anywhere close to 36 this time. They beat Clarkrange by 19. Let’s see which PC shows up. But don’t get me wrong CCHS can play! They are an exciting team to watch.
  15. I definitely didn't mean any disrespect to the west teams or any other teams for that matter. I saw GC this summer they have a great team again this year. They will be a tough out come tourney time too. And I also think the AA tourney will likely be the best of all the classes. I was just guessing based on what I have seen in the last month. McMinn probably has the toughest non-district schedule in the state (in any class). Bradley Central x2, Cookeville, Sevier County, Coffee County, GP x2, Of course I haven't seen everyones schedule but that is a crazy schedule for a AA school. I think they will be battle hardened and tough to beat come tourney time. The AA class is STACKED again this year and anything can happen in the glass house. Good luck this season! Its going to be fun watching this one play out.
  16. I believe McMinn, Pittman, and York are VERY close and will likely come down to one possession games. But having seen McMinn and Pittman play that will be an absolute battle. We play York a couple times later this season and we could play Pittman in the Gatlinburg Christmas tourney if both teams make final. If I had to make a guess now it would be McMinn but I do think York and Pittman are very close.
  17. You should know that Cookeville played Macon in that 2021 season. Macon won by 3 in the final minutes if I remember right. It was a great game. People don’t realize how close those teams were because they don’t play. Which is why I think they should play every year. It would be great basketball and a great rivalry.
  18. Actually I think it would have been a very close matchup throughout the years. That is what I said in a different post. It would be a rival game and most rival games have a close series. In football UHS definitely has had a better team as of late but the series isn’t even close.
  19. Who won the Blackman vs Tullahoma game?
  20. You keep playing the same broken record. We have had this discussion a couple times. Like I said last time, it could have been Cookeville that didn’t want to play in the past. I don’t know about then and I don’t know why they won’t play us now. But I know our coaches would love to play that game. And I also know they even refused to play our JV team in the JV play day at Green Hill last year when it was on the schedule. So yes it is one sided. Would it be lopsided? Maybe? Since we don’t play who knows what the record would be. It would be pure speculation for me to guess but if I were to guess I would say it would be similar to our record with WC since they both have good programs and a rich tradition. I was curious so I looked something up. Since WC has entered that district, Upperman has a losing record to White County. Cookeville is 4-1 vs WC in the same time period. I guess you could call that competitive. Also in the last 20 years, Upperman has a losing record vs White County. Cookeville doesn’t! . Granted we played WC a lot more often. Apparently the powers to be didn’t want those easy wins either. Let them play!!!
  21. After 8? lol They might want to guard her after 3. Two people should guard her after 8. That is a crazy number. Congrats to her.
  22. Lol. Here we go again…. I have answered that like 10 times. That decision is completely one sided. We would play them if they would play us. Not sure the reason but they won’t. Find out why and let us know. That’s a game I have been wanting to see for a long time. The last 4 years would have had some great basketball games for sure.
  23. Cumberland is very young and they have some ballers. Probably the two best 9th graders in the UC. But there is no way they are 40 pts better than PC. I asked some of our girls about that film and they said Pickett played really bad on D. I didn’t see the game myself but I have seen Pickett enough to know what they have and they obviously didn’t show up in that game. And that was a home game!
  24. We would love to play them again! We don’t dodge anyone.
