  2. Given that the coaches get to vote, by definition it is subjective and each person’s criteria may vary. If you want to take variability out of it, it should be something like most pins in least time by a state champ and coaches don’t vote. I’m sure there is a valid reason why coaches get to vote though and it’s not just most pins in least time.
  3. http://bhnationals.com/documents/BH_Nationals_Tournament_Flier.pdf Anybody on here going? Ever been?
  4. It wasn't stopped due to blood time. His dad walked out on the mat and stopped the match. Riley had a bar in deep and was about to turn him, and with a pre existing shoulder injury, his dad did not want to risk additional damage. Bennett was in control of the match prior to the nose injury.
  5. It would have taken TSSAA five minutes to review which schools had zero codes validated. They could have left a day between arbitrary deadline and opening to public and made a phone call to the school AD. Then after 24 hours each school could get a new link that opens remaining tickets for that school to families and coaches spouses of that school. One extra step, 30 extra minutes of work. What to do now? Increase capacity? Refund all tickets bought after noon yesterday and allow those schools 24 hours to get their tickets, then open back up to the public or coach family option after that 24 hours? Apparently all you need is five minutes to sell any leftover tickets.
  6. Just to set the record straight: I just watched the video back, they were three feet from the cylinder, PF kid had Jeffrey’s left hand in cross wrist, lifted him up, swept his feet left to right and returned him on his head and shoulder to the trapped arm side. Was very proud of our Fairview parents and wrestlers. No chants, in fact you could hear a pin drop. Small golf clap when injury default was announced and even though we had just won our first ever school team championship, we still sent our next wrestler out. We never even celebrated our victory until our name was announced as state champs. Heres the link to the match for reference. https://unapproved website/VideoPlayer.jsp?TIM=1613701178675&twSessionId=anqoybstsa&matchId=24368220132
  7. I’ll give you the inside scoop since I know first hand. Jeffrey had his arm in a sling Sunday and Monday after state duals, went to the doctor Monday, didn’t wrestle live all week before regions and basically just ran all practice to try to stay in shape. He’s still not 100%.
  8. Wrestling is on the rise across the state for sure. Competition levels and sport priority will continue to shift towards wrestling instead of just BB or FB. TN kids seem to be competing more often and placing more frequently on the national stage. Personally think its great to see disparity in competition levels diminish across divisions and across geographies in our state. Great for the sport and great for our state. Maybe our growth and competition level will get more TN colleges starting wrestling programs. The talent is here. The coaching is here. Fun times to be a wrestler, wrestling parent, and fan in this state.
  9. The refs don’t get enough credit or respect IMO. These guys aren’t getting paid college ref money, but they are certainly giving their best effort and they aren’t oblivious to the stakes.
  10. Just take this for what it is, fun to look at and watch over the season. This doesn't define someone's program (hopefully). It keeps us engaged and watch our teams rise or fall or just even get noticed in our case. At the end of the season next month, we can look back and see how it all played out and if that keeps us from watching any type of basketball, it's a win/win.
  11. I think dual losses before 1/1/21 don’t mean as much as dual wins after the same date for obvious reasons. Not saying it’s relevant in the DB scenario, just something the panel should factor in. Covid and associated contact tracing is a wildcard that now throws some uncertainty in the mix.
  12. Thanks for taking the time to put these together. There are definitely some great wrestlers in A/AA and I believe some of these young men could be the best in the state at their respective weights. Will be fun to look back at these after state championships and see how many and which ones are able to end on top. ‘We are seeing the competition gap close with the best wrestlers in the state across all divisions I believe due to the maturing of our Youth wrestling in the state. Easily half of the guys listed above wrestle all spring and summer across the nation. Glad to see the level of competition continue to increase in our state.
  13. If that's the case, glad TSSAA made that change. Kids shouldn't lose a year of wrestling or eligibility while trying to find a way to stay competitive and continue to improve in this sport right now.
  14. Apparently no one in Oklahoma can give him a good matchup either. Perhaps the move puts him closer to the RTC in Chattanooga.
  15. Great tournament Coach! Thank you for having us!
  16. We’ve definitely done our share of that this season since Williamson County schools have been consistently able to wrestle. Brentwood, BA, Father Ryan, MBA, Summit, Indy, Page, Oakland, MUS and individual tournaments with some of the best big and private schools in the state. It def has been a crazy season, thankful we have been able to wrestle as much as we have and looking forward to the next several weeks.
  17. I’m sure just like summit and everyone else we are still trying to get guys healthy and in their spots. No disrespect to Summit or anyone else. Just trying to raise more awareness for our small school. We have a great team this year and It’s been fun competing in tournaments with the Wilson Centrals and Clevelands and Brentwoods, etc.
  18. https://unapproved website/seasons/DualMatches.jsp?TIM=TIM=1610476720490&twSessionId=kjenngliax&dualId=6046438132&teamId=675186138 just so the statewide panel has this at their fingertips for the next vote. I know a lot of folks don’t do much research on little ole Fairview.
  19. I think you missed the ranked Fairview wrestlers. We will be there.
  20. We appreciate everyone being flexible and coming to wrestle at our place yesterday. Great day of competition indeed. Appreciate Charles Pulliam from the Williamson Herald for coming out and covering the event as well. http://www.williamsonherald.com/sports/wrestling-fairview-tips-hat-to-johnny-drennan-memorial-hosts-high-caliber-8-team-tourney/article_574f2906-533f-11eb-a861-d7b82f94b5c6.html
  21. Clevenger has started the season at 220 but not sure where he will be in January.
  22. Thinking outside of just teams, some kids I’ve enjoyed watching over the summer that are top notch wrestlers and humans: Garret Foreman at PF Parrish Pacetti at Hixson Hunter Mason at Greeneville Kodiak at Greeneville Dalen Kimble at Sycamore Just to name a few. We return a very talented young team with some experienced juniors and seniors at Fairview. My son who was 152 last year is 182 lbs this year. Will be fun to see where everyone is at this year in weight and where everyone will be wanting to get to after Christmas.
  23. Mostly state placers/finalists on this team. We still need a 106 and a hwt. Great opp for mat time.
  24. We have a team going from Mid TN down to Deep South duals. We definitely need a 132, 170, 220, and HWT. The tournament is in Birmingham, AL Friday and Saturday 7/24-7/25. Email me at biffmar4@hotmail.com or text me at 615-627-8708 if interested or if you'd like to see the flyer. This is HS Folkstyle team with a 1lb allowance. Team fee is $60. We aren't doing t-shirts or singlets, just going for mat time and some great competition. Should get 8-10 matches during the two days.
  25. Benefits: 1. Opportunity for all kids of all levels to stay exposed to wrestling in the off season to continue to learn and grow at their own pace. 2. Short travel for large room (lord knows we've heard enough about the bradley/Chatt rooms) 3. Fairview may have 3 kids want to do work intermittently through the "off season" to supplement their national/FS/Greco competition schedule. At fight nights they have several like minded kids in the room with them when they want to show up to do extra work, whereas if they didn't have fight nights, two kids would have to get a coach to let them in the gym to get in some work. 4. Stay in shape 5. Learn from other kids and coaches 6. Stay connected to big school and D2 kids that they competed against for years in AAU Disadvantages: While I'm at it, let me go ahead and thank these coaches and programs for their commitment to raising the level of competition across the board in middle tn and opening their doors to kids from our program and others. Some wise man once said, "It's just small school, who cares?" Well we do at Fairview and apparently so do several coaches who afford us an opportunity to grow with them despite our school division status.
