  1. His hometown is Washington DC he didn't come to Elizabethton until age 12
  2. BarneySox2007 good stuff keep this going, I think the 3 hardest games to call is Oak Ridge/Jeff County Central/Fulton Betsy/SH
  3. It's the same thing every year we look for someone to dethrone Maryville in the 1st two regions. This is said every year and every year Maryville is practicing the week of Thanksgiving and ain't nothing going to change. If you remove Oakland I don't know what the consecutive streak would be for Maryville for being in the state championship game, I think the only true case would be 2012 Siegel I believe they were better than Maryville but their Qb suffer a torn Mcl and Acl but somehow still managed to play but was limited, however if Siegel was better that year like you said a one trick pony
  4. Stars, Albert Haynesworth son plays for Oakland I say it's a good shot he's whispering a little rocky top in the kids at Oakland ears

  6. I see both sides of it, we all know Oakland is the standard right now in 6a and it would have taken a herculean effort from Maryville to pull off the upset. From the Oakland side of it as mtf stated the real talent of this Oakland team is with the sophomores so this is the year to kind of catch Oakland off guard and they're leaps and bound ahead of the pack. This Oakland train doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon and last season with the patriots unblemished gauntlet schedule we all had a fun debate with no right or wrong answers if last years Oakland was the best team the state of tn had ever seen. From the Maryville side the sayers that are saying all is not lost, if we can just change 1 thing remove Oakland let's just say Oakland doesn't exist then that changes the whole narrative and perception on coach Hunt, we're all saying GQ left and coach Hunt didn't miss a beat, it's Maryville playing summit last year for the title, it's Maryville playing Brentwood the previous year. This is the only year there could be a real debate between Maryville vs Blackman and personally I don't know who wins that game

  8. Once upon a time Science Hill did have somewhat of a fanbase, late 80's, throughout the whole 90's somewhere between 2002-2003 give or take what Maryville is to football, Science Hill was to basketball, without as many titles and straight championship games. During that 15 or so span the toppers do have around 5 state titles and maybe 8 final 4 appearances, I think their 95 team finished 6th in the nation that year and some would argue that their 94 team was better they just didn't get the recognition because the 95 team beat the #1 rank team in Oak Hill. During that span the Arby's classic was rank the #2 tourny in the country and if you wasn't there an hour before Science Hill played you wasn't getting a seat. They had their special game chant and everybody would follow along and they would have that 6-8k venue rocking, now we can see they were fair weather fans. It's hard to believe because they don't have any support now that once upon a time they had somewhat of a fanbase
  9. Nobody can argue your opinion West is a force and good luck to what's left of 5a trying to deal with that beast. If we go look at the score West/Alcoa all we're going to see is West won, but I could be off a little Alcoa had it first and goal at the 6 when the starting qb got hurt and the backup came in and threw the pick in the endzone. Had he never got hurt we'll never know who would of won but to me Alcoa and West are pretty much evenly matched, just somebody had to win. Both teams are great but lord willing come Friday I think we all will be reminded who still reigns Supreme in the public schools (Oakland)
  10. Maryville 42-10 The real story that I hate for the Maryville faithful is this is the quarterfinals it's getting close to the end and this will be a poorly attended game on the away side, SH just doesn't have a fan base. This game is up against West vs Boone and the showdown at Anderson County against Greeneville so I don't see many around the Knoxville area attending this game over them. This game will feel like a week 3 match-up. Still after the smoke clears Maryville will keep their annual tradition practicing the week of Thanksgiving
  11. Maryville 24-3 Bearden defense is legit, it's one of the best in the state, here's the problem Bearden offense is a work in progress, Bearden will have so many 3 and outs on offense this game that eventually their defense will wear out, so I'm sticking with 24-3 but it could end up being Maryville 31-3
  12. Agree they're not beating Oakland
  13. Blaze West looks good, they're loaded, but Oakland beats them by 17+. Then out of the privates Baylor, MBA, BA, LA just to name a few would beat West too. Oakland wouldn't beat any of them privates either but last year Oakland team would
  14. I agree that region 2 will sweep region 1 if Sh beats Db. If Db beats Sh then region 1 gets 1 team through, Db will beat Bradley Central, I just don't like Db chances against Bearden or Farragut. Let's hope Vaughn and Ladue for Maryville are OK, Ladue injury didn't look as bad as Vaughn injury but that changes the game for Maryville if they're not healthy. Healthy Maryville comes out of the 6a region 1 vs 2, but not healthy it's going to be either Bearden, Farragut or Db playing against the boys from Murfreesboro
  15. Top to bottom West is the better and more complete team, however this hasn't been mentioned yet Maryville will have the best player on the field in Vaughn. I watched a local kid that currently plays for the Detroit Lions and I watch Vaughn and the kid that's playing for the Lions doesn't have the talent and upside as Vaughn does. Vaughn at the next level with the right program, coaching staff, etc, I think he could be making football as a living. I don't have a prediction on who wins but Vaughn keeps this game respectable
  16. CPA really looked good last night, I think they could beat anyone besides Lipscomb Academy, to me LA is hands down the best team in the state. I heard don't know if it's true that Baylor has 9 d1 recruits if that's the case then I wouldn't like CPA chances against them. As much as I'm giving LA credit I can't explain LA beating Thompson, I think if they played again Thompson wins going away, Thompson defensive front 4 I'll be shocked if all are not playing on Sundays, they're as good as it gets. I was telling someone this football season has been strange so far, Alcoa has a loss to a team not named Maryville, Maryville has 2 losses in the regular season and Oakland got a spanking to a 3 loss team, I mean what's next
  17. Blaze I hope this is the year Db gets back on track in beating Sh on the regular. A couple years ago you hit the nail on the head when you told me TN High has a stud I'm Jaden Keller but they're wasting his talent because they don't involve him in their offense, well now he's starting linebacker for VA Tech, he also caused a key fumble against old dominion
  18. Cleveland could, if they do there's a good chance to advancing to the 2nd round, the only life I see in region 1 is Db
