  1. Is he still coaching? Didn't he bounce around like 3 different schools in a short period of time?
  2. That many classes just looks silly IMO. Maybe im too old but having 8 state champions in the same weight class is ridiculous. I come from a time period where there was a single state champion from each weigh class, and being a state champion meant quite a bit. Im not saying thats the right way... but now, with so many classes in some of these states, its turning into participation trophies. Just my two cents.
  3. This was pretty wild. Rincon got pinned too, although she was bumped up to 132.
  4. The Football board is over there >>>> https://www.coacht.com/boards/index.php?/forum/26-football/ Leave that crap on their boards. You're all acting like a bunch of middle schoolers. stfu.
  5. Many moons ago I was helping with an elementary kids wrestling camp. Each coach was paired up with roughly 6 kids. My group was pretty new to the sport as well as young, 7-8 years old. While teaching the boys technique I had one kid that just wouldn't sit still and he was constantly disrupting the teaching by blurting out nonsense. I kindly told the kid that If he continued he would have to do push ups. For the rest of the camp for that day, that kid was doing was seemed like endless push ups. Day 1 of camp ends and the boys mother comes up to me and asks why he was doing push ups. I explained that he was being disruptive and I had warned him a few times prior. She then proceeds to tell me that he was recently diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome. I was absolutely mortified. I apologized profusely to the mother and the child. I immediately left the school and purchased a $25 Dairy Queen coupon for the kid and presented it to him the next day.
  6. Given this, it could still put the true 1 and 2 seeds on the same side of the bracket.
  7. Fair. So, is winning regionals the only factor, or does regional placement matter?
  8. She is. So she would still be in seeding criteria. She won the H2H in this 2024 season. But placed lower in the 2023 state tournament. According the to the handbook, it would also indicate that Regional placement doesn't matter either.
  9. Looking at the TSSAA regulations for girls. Just want to clarify. If a girl was a state champ in a lower weight class in 2023, has now bumped up and was beaten by a girl in the 2024 regular season in the new competing weight class, the state champ still gets the higher seed, regardless of head to head results? (Section IV B.) Wrestlers who meet the qualification shall be placed in each weight division in the state tournament. In order to be placed, a wrestler must be a sectional champion and must have been a state place finisher during her high school career. The criteria for placing shall be as follows. 1. Separate all state champions (includes state champions from other states) 2. The following criteria shall be used to separate state champions: (a) state champion at same weight, (b)state champion at higher weight, (c) state champion at lower weight. (If there are two state champions at the same weight the state champion from Tennessee will receive the higher seed.). 3. Follow the same procedure as #2 above for 2nd place from previous year, 3rd place from previous year, 4. Items #2 and #3 shall be applied in order to wrestlers who placed in the state tournament two years prior. 5. Blind draw. 2023-2024 TSSAA Girl Wrestling Regulations
  10. It's a win win situation for Cleveland... if they win, they're the best in the state. If they lose, Baylor hand picked a better team. Baylor has nothing to gain from possibly losing to Cleveland. The athletes get a blemish on their record against a guy that they wouldn't see at state or at a national level in most cases. That said, I don't think Baylor would intentionally dodge Cleveland. If both teams wanted it to happen, they would have worked out the details by now.
  11. I don't know whos maintaining this list, but I have sent two emails regarding getting the Heritage Tournament added for Dec 1-2
  12. We look forward to this event every year.
  13. Heritage High School (Dec 1 and Dec 2) Maryville, TN
  14. If people don't think the Baylor coaches are reaching out to kids and starting the conversation about transferring they're delusional. They most certainly are. It starts with a comment here or there, and then the conversations continue to full commitments. That said, personally, I think athletes need to go to a school where they are most suited to excel and continue to grow. Staying stagnant with stagnant coaches and training partners, is not going to help them in the long run.
