Yes, that's impressive. There are a few teams that have nice home streaks. I know South Side has a long home win streak also. They aren't playing well right now so that may come to an end this season also.

What is going on with Jackson South Side? They had two lopsided losses at Gibson County this weekend and a lot of kids not in uniform. The Askins kid didn't play today, but was on the floor yesterday. Anybody have any insight. @pioneer42 or @HawkGuy06 Do you guys know what is going on with them?

Dyersburg plus 10

I feel like this is the same thing that was said last year about some of these teams and the results were the opposite. Everyone said Wayne County was good or better than McKenzie. Some said last year was supposed to be Gatlinburg Pittman's year also, but did they even make it to the Boro? Many said that South Side was good, but hadn't played any good teams and it would hurt them in the postseason, well we see how that panned out. Same with Westview, "they are good, but not good enough to beat York". I do agree, Dyersburg is extremely talented, but there is a BUT there and I cant put my finger on it just yet, but i like what they have. I also have heard that Creek Wood has a transfer. Is she Burgess good? If not, they wont be as good as everyone thinks. They didn't have a whole lot outside of her to return. Upperman will be Upperman as long as Coach McWilliams is there. It will be interesting. I have a new job so I will get to see a lot of basketball this season and I can't wait!

So are the defending champions in each class the favorites to win until they don't, or are there new favorites to start the preseason? I still like McKenzie in 1A as long as Savannah Davis is healthy. You can never count out Westview in 2A, they always reload. Jackson South Side in 3A will bring as much pressure as they want to give them a chance. In 4A, when has Bradley Central not been a house hold name? What are some of your thoughts?

There are a lot of coaches around that won't play certain schools.

Transfer portal, Ha Ha! Funny, but true. So I hear South Side has a kid from South Gibson who came eligible after Region Semifinals and another one or two coming from a private school there in town. @HawkGuy06 can you give us any incite on that? Dyersburg has the granddaughter and possibly a transfer I believe that will be eligible. South Gibson returns #12, #24 and #33 that saw a lot of minutes and I believe they had a decent middle school team also.

Please don't downplay what South Side did by saying they got the whistles. Watching all 3 games, they were getting screwed by the refs and found a way to win. Their defense is impeccable and they never gave up. Their game with Elizabethton is a testament to kids who persevere. The championship gane was headed towards a blowout and the officials started blowing the whistle to slow the game down and give LA free throws and SS still found a way. Those kids and coaches earned their championship.

The award is said to be a regular season award. So it will definitely be interesting to see. I think Lawson is the most complete player of the 3. Johnson is the anchor to Upperman and Bailey is a solid player.

Congrats SS! Those ladies had a gauntlet and battled through every test. Coach McNeal is as good as any. The post about FTs, well, from what I witnesses SS was getting hammered down low again today and there weren't any whistles until Lawson was determined to attack them. Livingston didn't really do much to get fouled. SS plays defense as good as anybody in the country. They deserve every win they got this week. Game 2 was impressive as they come. Good job Lady Hawks and Coaches.

This is ludacris. The game that I was watching, the play was the same on both ends. First half South Side was getting hammered inside and no whistles. Yes South Side plays physical but Upperman was pretty close to the same. Don't make excuses, just accept it, like South Side did in 2017 and 2022.

Once in a generation? I guess you mean to win it? South Side has been a top team in the state for about 6 years now. I believe this is their 3rd appearance in 6 yrs which is not to shabby and they've loss their best player 2 of those 3. Upperman is good and the defending champion and a perennial powerhouse, but South Side is equally good I believe. This will be a good game nonetheless. We are all bias to our home teams so I understand.

That sure does look to be what they have laid out.

These 1st round match-ups are interesting

Westview is great when they are making 3s. We seen what happened when shots are not falling. South Side doesn't leave kids open often to shoot efficiently.
