Who was the coach at Cornersville in 2017-18? They had a great 2 year run with an unbelievable defense, especially in 2018

The road to Chatt in the East will go through South Pitt as always. Gordonsville and Clay Co will be the other 2 that could make it and then there’s everybody else

Combination of penalties and Jo Byrns milked a lot of clock when they had the ball. If I remember correctly Gville had 3 possessions each half and had 2 TD’s called back and another drive stalled inside the 10 right before half

I definitely think this game could go either way but I do think Gordonsville has played a much better schedule. Clay’s opponents overall record sits at 20-61 while Gville’s is 40-41. I know that really won’t matter when 7:00 rolls around next Friday but that’s just my 2 cents

1987, 2002, and 2012

With both teams returning basically the same team as the last year and Gville winning, any reason for giving Clay the edge this year? Or just going by scores this year?

Having seen 3 of the 4 play, I can say that there’s not much of a difference between any of them. They all lack true speed and a real difference maker on the offensive side of the ball. All are pretty good defensively, especially up front. But any team in the playoffs that has good speed on offense will give them trouble. Just my 2 cents

Very true. But I’d go out a limb and say that those 3-4 in the west are significantly better than the 3 in the east

I definitely think Gordonsville and Clay are contenders. But no one should count your Pirates out. They have been there and done it too many times. I am excited to see what happens when Nov rolls around

I agree. Pretty ridiculous. One of Gville loses is to a 3A team who is 6-1 and ranked in the AP top 10. The other loss however was a bad loss but Gville has gotten back healthy since week 1 & 2 and have played much better football since then. But, AP poll doesn’t really mean much other than giving us something to talk about. I am looking forward to seeing the Gville and Clay Co game in a few weeks! Should be a good one up in Celina

I think this one will end up being a running clock. Tigers finally healthy and playing much better. would definitely believe they will be a contender to rep the east when November rolls around

This will be a very low scoring game I believe. Both teams have solid Defense with average to below average offense

I’ll take Dekalb by 2-3 scores if they play a clean game with no turnovers

I would say overall 2013 was better. But 2018 definitely had a better game plan for Alcoa

That 2013 team/Connor York was the team that got Upperman on the map and still the best team/player at UHS 9 years later…
