Both defenses are physical and well-coached. I don’t know if either will be able to run the ball. I am hopeful that Gordonsville can connect on a few deep passes to open things up. In a game like this it comes down to who makes the special teams play and wins the turnover battle. Big Blue 21-13

Excited to be in Coalfield tonight. I expect a big blue win if and only if we win the turnover battle and don’t have a bunch of silly penalties
-
Using Walker Valley/Carter and Walker Valley/Smith County. Like I said it’s a poor predictor of a game’s outcome but I like looking to get an idea. It will take a great Gordonsville effort to get a win

Comparing scores will often get you in trouble but the comparison leads me to believe this will be a Gordonsville victory. Looking forward to heading up to coalfield!

Can any of our west TN friends fill us in on Stewart County? Any football history, good places to eat, how is the field etc

Carthage @ Gordonsville - August 21st
TigerTown12 replied to croz6110's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
Yes this game will be streamed again at www.dtc3.tv They do an excellent job for those that can’t make it out -
I personally am glad to have scrimmages back this fall after we had none the previous spring and fall. Feel free to post your team’s scrimmages here. Gordonsville is scrimmaging DeKalb County Friday night.

Very exciting times around Gordonsville! The Tigers should field a very solid team the next two years. I look and hope to see Carthage improve this year. Coach Dyer has seen Smith County football at its peak and I believe he has what it takes. Last year's game was just sad. I look for a totally different atmosphere on the 24th post COVID and two teams on the rise. Good thing it's at Gordonsville, I expect standing room only and five deep around the fence like the 'good ole days.' Only reason I have heard for moving this game is to give opportunities for people to come that couldn't on a traditional Friday night. -
Are you talking about McCoin? I'm not sure he's interested

Good thing there's a current surplus of labor and materials

Hey Gordys - how y'all looking for this fall

Next time you’re there be sure to try the house special pizza, can’t beat it. We should have another good year this fall. The district championship will likely come down to the last week of the year with Clay Co at Gordonsville. I like what the coaches did with our non district schedule. From the 2020 season we lost a good group of seniors specifically (#4, #10, #44, #50) D-Line has some holes to fill. Our junior class in 2021 is large and has seen a lot of playing time. We should have two really good years upcoming. -
I believe the fine folks of Hartsville refer to them as chicken county. Although I hear they will be relinquishing their title as chicken county with the introduction of the 2021 schedule...

That year during the regular season Gordonsville beat Monterey 29-27. Then Monterey went to South Pittsburg in the first round and lost 53-15. In the second round South Pitt came to Gordonsville in the game you described above and won 27-14. It goes to show comparing scores sometimes don't tell the whole story. Hoping for a big blue win this time, Go Tigers

Nothing like a little Jasper talk to get the thread moving.... Safe travels to all the SP fans tomorrow, it should be a good one
-
Ah yes, the night the lights went out in Gordonsville
-
1.)Gordy’s team is full of sophomores. I just don’t see that happening. 2.)If Clay beats Gordonsville, the second place team in region 4 will play at the first place team in region 3 in the second round, so yes this will be an annual matchup in the current system barring major upsets

Timberloft is temporarily closed so I would recommend eating before you get to Gordonsville. I look for this game to be similar to the 2018 meeting at Gville. If I remember correctly the Tigers had the momentum early but a muffed punt changed the game and SP’s talent advantage started to show as the game went on. The Pirates will be Gordonsville’s best opponent yet but I am looking forward to this annual meeting over the next few years

This is a bunch of mess

I agree, I feel Clay is going to play very well tonight. If this game was played on paper Gordonsville would have a touchdown advantage due to the play in the trenches. When 44 is playing his best our run defense is very, very good. 10 for Gordonsville has ran extremely hard in the second half of the season as well. It will be a good playoff atmosphere at Turney Ford Field considering the circumstances, and I am looking forward to it!

Smith County looking for a new Head Coach
TigerTown12 replied to kingofthenorth's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
I agree. I don't like the new tiger paw on Gordonsville's helmets either. Smith County should have black tops, black pants, and black helmets with a gold SC. My first call would absolutely be to Hackett at Watertown, and I think he will take it. It would definitely inflate community support -
He has been very interested in Gordonsville's (negative) affairs since the last coaching change. I haven't figured that one out yet
-
Halftime Gordonsville 42-0
-
It is a little lopsided. Whitwell had negative yardage in the first quarter. Beginning of second quarter Gordonsville was going into score and snapped it over a lineman’s head to turn it over in the red zone, would have made it 35-0.
