  1. Would love to be a fly on the wall as the merits of each are being discussed...
  2. A new AD would support "leadership" as being a reason. Didn't mean to imply poor leadership. And BA has a new AD as well which would help explain a reason why they might not have made a decision (though i think it's just as likely they want to do right by the MacIntyre family).

    BA?

Like Lipscomb, a pretty full cupboard but there will be a lot of BA faithful with eyes on how George McIntyre is utilized. This hire is going to need a big stamp of approval.
  4. No school in their right mind would want to touch that firestorm only 2-3 months since the story broke. It's my experience that ADs have their lists of "guys they'd call" if the current head coach leaves. Whether Witten was on that list doesn't matter at this point. The fact is they don't have a coach yet and there's got to be a reason. If players didn't leave at the semester, they probably aren't leaving at all, so the cupboard is pretty full. They will be competitive in AAA. So it's not an issue of talent. Leaving resources or leadership as the primary reasons they haven't secured anyone.
  5. Speaking of basketball, great to see the number of multi-sport athletes in this game https://www.tennessean.com/picture-gallery/sports/high-school/2023/01/07/tssaa-basketball-lipscomb-academy-vs-brentwood-academy-photos/11004233002/
  6. So much for that with Hank Brown decommitting from Liberty.
  7. Regarding rumors and small college athletics...there are indeed a lot of similarities (the power of the almighty dollar!), in colleges it is the alumni who start the rumors in order to initiate change and in D2 it is the parents.
  8. I didn't say it was malicious. I just noticed that the player had no intention of coming off the field after getting called for the penalty. Watch most D2 teams around here and the players come right off regardless of the penalty. Like I said - a different brand and a different level.
  9. That's the What stuck out for me was not pulling a player after the roughing the passer penalty in the 4th quarter. Watch most HS games around here and that player knows to come off the field for a play. For better or worse, they are just playing a different level and brand of football (for now).
  10. Has the QB who went to Cincinnati and hit the transfer portal found a new home yet?
  11. Coach Dilfer transformed the culture in a short period of time (relatively speaking). He brought players in from around the country. He excited the fan base. He participated in some significant facility enhancements. I am sure that there are some younger players in the program and school that he attracted, and so they should be fine for a year or 2, but if they don't find a similar "football magnet" the program will suffer. He didn't "build from within" and so the pipeline is probably short. Additionally, IF any families or players came solely to LA b/c of him, they are just as likely to move on. But the school knew this was always a possibility and so I would assume they had a succession plan in place. What will be hard is if he takes staff with him. And just when we thought the Lane Kiffin to Auburn news was dying down lol.
  12. Joe Williams is reporting that Coach White has stepped down.
  13. When the boys athletic programs are successful...
  14. If he withdrew before any discipline was handed out/down, there wouldn't be anything on his transcript other than the withdrawal. And I wouldn't be surprised if his family got the school to sign something preventing them (the school) for discussing the reason. It's the world in which we lives these days - "I might go but no one says I have to go quietly."
  15. Tucked in to the West AA is USJ moving up.
  16. Would love to know how Booger might paraphrase "nose to the grindstone" !
  17. I imagine this removes him from the Mr. Football ballot.
  18. I would find it hard to believe that Dilfer didn't share his vision for the program in the interview process. He is not doing anything that isn't allowed under either the school's rules or the TSSAA's. Do I agree with his treatment of players? No. But that's for the school to handle. Do I like him kicking onside kicks when up by more than 20? No. But that's for his AD to handle. I had to laugh at a previous post on the Message Board about Ensworth taking a run at him after the season. I really can't imagine any school in Nashville wanting that kind of attention BUT it would be interesting to see how the TSSAA would handle any student-athletes who transfer (and follow Dilfer).
  19. Nothing about coaches feeling bad or even if they should feel bad. As someone wrote earlier in this post - Ingle gets his players ready. He probably wouldn't have thrown them under the bus as quickly as the Oakland coach did his players. At the end of the day, it's the players who are on the field. But maybe take some responsibility Coach. Oakland coach Kevin Creasy said. "Our guys feel pretty bad right now and they need to feel bad. A lot of players who played before them in Oakland uniform who would not be very happy with the way they performed especially in critical parts of the game.
  20. Regardless of outcome, congrats to the Panthers for their improvement this season. Haven't seen them play but know their coach is well respected and he's gotten the players to buy into his vision apparently.
  21. Thank you. Personally hate to see a young athlete feeling like "3rd" isn't worth being in Year 1, especially when the #1 is a clear #1.
  22. Any word on why Luther Richesson is entering the transfer portal?
  23. This world is a little less joyful today. But the greater world is an even greater place with him there.
  24. Week 3 in a 6 team Region. Davidson and FRA face challenges and Goodpasture is done with the Lipscomb and CPA gauntlet. What’s everyone thinking? Or are we just waiting until Oct. 22 to get excited?
