  1. That is the biggest issue I see year in and year out. Too many stupid mistakes and penalties. I get just as upset at Bradley's players for that as I do anyone else. That stuff costs you ball games. Cleveland is dying for the next Benny Monroe, but one thing about Benny's teams. He kept a good lid on the penalties and to run that offense the way they did, they had to have some discipline.
  2. I think we get Tucker as the starter this week. Tyler Cook (Yes older brother) went out on the 6th play of the season, then AJ Nash goes out int he same game with a concussion, leave Tucker to finish the game. Now Cash goes out with an MRI scheduled for Monday, and that leave the only healthy QB Tucker. Not sure about Nash with his concussion so if he's still out they have to find someone to be an emergency QB.
  3. Yeah, but realistically it's a team culture fix. Something you don't fix completely in a week of practice.
  4. Considering the injuries and youth, I expected some beatings and revenge this year. Yeah unless things change greatly WV and Cleveland both get us this year. But from what I heard, I was somewhat encouraged with some things last night.
  5. From what I have seen this year, referees are calling things much tighter than in years past. That being said, Cleveland teams, over the last 10 or 12 years, have been prone to being undisciplined and getting penalties that really hurt, or large enough numbers that they would get beat when they had the talent to win. Several times I have called Bradley wins simply because of that. IF Coach Tygard can get that under better control, (and that is simply not being stupid at times) Cleveland will return to more of the type of teams they want.
  6. That has been the word on the street any number of years. I don't put any credence in it until I hear it from Coach Floyd himself. I think he has done a pretty good job with the talent he has had to work with, so I don't gripe about his record (yeah selfishly I would like to win more, same as all fans). This rumor floats every time there is downturn due to graduation, or low talent level. It basically suggests he is quitter when the going gets tough. Never seen that in him. But if he was to leave, I will respect his reasoning why, because of the effort he has given to Bradley Athletics. However, one does not expect your QB to go down in the first series of the first game, and have to go with untested freshmen, then one of them get a concussion and you are down to another freshman. Now it appears we have another situation putting us back at 1 healthy Freshman QB on a team having VERY few seniors. Coach Floyd's mantra in these situations, has always been next man up. Let's see how things pan out in the end.
  7. I hope not too, but it didn't sound good. Friend who was watching on the internet was texting me about the hit, and sent me a clip of it. He thought it was a dirty hit, but I don't think so much and told him that. Not heard anything concrete yet, so won't speculate till I hear something concrete from a source I trust.,
  8. Minimum of 35, based on what I have seen thus far. I think this will be running clock by the end unless Bradley really steps up play more than I can imagine. Anyone who knows me KNOWS I am Bradley through and through, but I also try to be as honest in my comments as I can. Bradley has some kids that will be good players in the future, but not right now it appears from what I see so far.
  9. At this point I can't argue that thought.
  10. We don't send many QB's to college. Most play other positions.
  11. Didn't and don't expect him to after4 days of practice. No doubt he saw a chance to play far more at Bradley then at Cleveland as a senior. Now whether he is a barn burner or not is a totally different question (one I think we know the answer to). But after two injuries int eh first game... <shrugs>
  12. Frankly from what I have seen I can't really disagree with the thought. 4 returning starters? I knew this would be a tough year, but the start has been pretty ugly. Losing the starting QB who even tho had not played much did know the offense thoroughly hurts big time. Then second string goes out with a concussion and down to 3rd string. Cash Bandy coming is both good and bad. New kid, who does not really know the offense, or has time with the skill players, but the experience may offset that some. I expected a big step back. Last year was a very nice deal with players we never expected to see showing up. My preseason expectation was a best of 7-3. I knew there are several who will be getting revenge. I enjoyed last year, but knew it was a one-year thing. Anyone (like me) that really follows it knew to enjoy a special year and to enjoy it while it lasted. Then it would be back to a more normal team. And this would be huge rebuilding year that may suck. Side Note: Coach Floyd set a record for wins as a Bear Coach at 125-79. He took over at 28 years old with a team that went 4-26 over the previous 3 seasons and riding a 16-game losing streak. He may not have the greatest of records, but he has worked hard and generally has fielded competitive teams. No matter what I still say....
