The Govs are much better off than the other end of town. They had there chance but no one is going to transfer and play for that guy and that was their opportunity to build something descent but that time has passed and they are going to be 3-7,4-6 at best. Robert has still got a chance to grow and improve from year to year the other guy not so much

What about schools like Farragut and Bearden that should be and in beardens case really good each year.

What is the it factor that good basketball coaches in the Knoxville area have that allows them to be successful and who has it and who doesn’t.

What would be scary is if south Greene had a real football guy as a coach and not someone that got the job by default or being a disciple of the previous head coach. They have way too much talent year in year out to be mediocre or worse. South Greene has had recent success but it has been on talent not coaching.

When are you people going to say enough is enough and go get Rodney Boruff to be the county director of schools and bring some respect back to the county because as of now there is none and Rodney would clean up this s—- show and let him reassign the principal and AD to the custodian closet. Until someone of Rodney’s character is in control of th entire system things like this will continue.

What has happened to the rebuild and excitement at Heritage. You would think that a coach of his so called caliber would at least show a little consistency. It also seems fans may be wavering on this guy because there are nothing but crickets coming from the mountain

Anyone who thinks this guy can build a program is sadly mistaken. The way he acted after the game sprinting to Coach Reeves and then the field house shows this guys class. Guarantee if HHS had one he would have been hanging out taking all the pats in the back.

Anybody have any knowledge of what kind of staff coach Child’s has been able to put together. It will be a shame if his career ends right here because he can’t find any good help; with all the facilities they have it should not be that hard.

Ran into a non-faculty coach a couple of days ago and asked if they have hired any qualified assistants and he could not name a coach with the exception of the head coach could be a very interesting situation developing.

This thread has gone silent. Any word on good assistants being hired. Grapevine says they are having trouble, wonder why?

Lots of great words about this young coach but the one thing I have not heard is can he coach. The other thing is will he be able to hire good assistants. With Eagleton hiring all these William Blount Coaches it is surprising that WBHS was not better under these coaches.

I would say that with all the money the county has and is pumping into this program the principal may be scared to pull the trigger because he is 0-2 in the head coach hiring department and he may be looking for a job if he screws this one up. It’s obvious they have no clue what’s going on.

Well the obvious is Alcoa is the standard and will be for the foreseeable future. Maryville will reevaluate instead of reload. William Blount is what it is and up is the only way to go would like to see baby steps as far as improving and coaching staff has got to show they have what it takes to make that improvement or they may not be around many more seasons. Will the little hill climbers continue to improve in order to conquer the mountain. They most definitely have the easiest road to the playoffs with only needing one win. How long will the cussing coach be around if they don’t show improvement from his first year cause that was a major choke job down the stretch losing 3 out last 4 and the finally to a 1-8 Halls team. What do yo all think.

The scary thing about GQ coming back to Maryville and coaching football would be if someone in the county woke up and finally said we are going to do what we have to do to hire him and not let money be an issue. Replacing the cussing coach with GQ would be a heck of a deal for the county because with the little success they had this year would have been much more successful with GQ. I will give the cussing coach credit, he did prove that Heritage is not dead and with GQ in charge they could be a monster to deal with because the one thing that would happen with GQ that Osovet can not do and that is get the transfers.

I think what is being missed on this topic or I have not seen it said is this: You have the opportunity to win 10 games per season to qualify for the playoffs and the more you win the better seed you get and the more home playoff games you get to host. BUT for those teams who only win one or two maybe three games and get in the playoff with a losing record they just happened to win the right 3 games and the indictment should not be on them or the Playoff System. I am sorry you may have choked on your opportunities, but remember you had the same number of opportunities and you did not take full advantage. If you get beat by a 1-8 or 2-7 team you maybe did not deserve to be in the playoffs anyhow. They should go back to the top two teams in each region and thats it and we will not have this discussion every year.

I wished the little guy who announces Alcoa games would have learned something from Glen Morton. He sounds like someone trying to get a job by convincing you he knows what he is doing but I think Alcoa felt sorry for him because he is the only non-championship part of that program. Just announce the game and quit trying to make it 2 hours about yourself.

One other thing is he may be a good X’s and O’s Guy but he is not the total package that can build a program that has longevity.
