Hendersonville record is deceiving/Nobody has beaten them by more than 7 3 losses by 7 1 loss by 5 1 loss by 2 I think the offenses are better in Region 6 and the defenses in Region 5. Gallatin and Antioch had much better defenses than Dickson County who beat Hendersonville but Dickson County had the better offense. Hendersonville will do better against a smash mouth type team. If a team spreads them and has a lot of speed they struggle. One advantage is that Hatfield and the staff has been there several times.

Hendersonville 14 Overton 13 Weird game. 0-0 at halftime. Overton takes first drive of 2nd half and scores on a 12 yd run by White. They then hold H'ville and fumble the punt, giving H'ville the ball at about the Overton 40. Watson scores from 3 yds out to tie it. Finally with about 4 minutes to go Overton lines for about a 25 yard field goal. Bad snap, holder sprints left then back to the right and throws down around the goal line and H'ville DB David Champlin intercepts and goes 98 yds for the TD. Extra point good. Overton then drives down quickly and scores but extra point is wide left. H'ville then makes 3 consecutive first downs and runs out the clock. The key one on 4th and 2 from about the Overton 35 Overton jumped offsides. Not a great performance from the Commando's but sometimes you just have to find a way to win and they did.

Hendersonville 22 Hillwood 0 Highlight of the night for Hillwood was the opening kickoff as they returned it 60 yards and then missed a 44 yd field goal. Hendersonville scored 3 touchdowns quickly in the first half and then played a horrible second half. 10 penalties for over 100 yds, 3 turnovers. Hendersonville gained over 300 yards offense but once again was plagued by all the mistakes. Hats off to Hillwood, out manned but played very hard, especially in the second half.

Dickson County 21 Hendersonville 7 4 Hendersonville turnovers, 2 big plays from Dickson County (Rayburn 65 yd touchdown run) and a 65 yd touchdown pass from Primm. Dickson County has an excellent offensive line and played mistake free football. Hendersonville moved the ball all night but kept shooting itself in the foot with turnovers and penalties.

Which Hendersonville team will show up? The Wilson Central team (turnover margin of +3), the Beech team (-4 turnover margin) or the McGavock team (turnover margin +5). Physical straight ahead running teams like Dickson County concern me more than teams with fancy offenses (McGavock). Hendersonville has to score at least 17 points to win.

Hendersonville 20 McGavock 0 McGavock had at least 6 turnovers and probably another 3 or 4 fumbles that they recovered. Hendersonville just played solid football and took advantage of the mistakes. Good comeback by the Hendersonville kicking game. Austin Overton had 2 field goals and 2 extra points. McGavock did move it between the 20's but never could get in the end zone. Very good win for the Commandos.

Great high school football game. Hendersonville just dug too big of a hole and made too many mistakes. Great 95 yard drive in the last 2 minutes of regulation to tie it. Beech just made the plays when it counted.

Darrien Roper had a 25 yard touchdown run in the first half/Commandos displayed a bend but don't break defense/Alex Gregory had a touchdown run in the 4th quarter, Anthony Moore or Morgan had a touchdown run in the 2nd half, I believe Robert Carlton scored the other touchdown. Roper was injured in the 4th quarter/MCL sprain

Class A- TCA, they remind you a lot of Goodpasture 4 or 5 years ago, young but extremely good/This will be the first of many Class AA- Wide open, probably Goodpasture, don't count out Marshall County Class AAA- Soddy Private- St. Benedict, overall best team I saw all year/Lindsey, Campbell, Dowdy and all the rest.

Sara Nicholson-Hendersonville St. Benedicts- no. 1 or 2 hitter/don't remember Mason-East Robertson

This year's team has great potential but you can't compare it to last year at this point. That was one of the most dominant teams in state history. Players like Pieroni, Wamsley, Moncrief and Hutchison don't come along every year much less all at the same time. You can't snap your fingers and replace them just like that. I think it would be a big mistake to put unrealistic expectations on the girls at this point. As far the pitching goes I have seen both and Danielle Pieroni was better.

I believe Drakes Creek fields 1-10 and 13 on Thursday. Field 3 will not be used. The rest of the weekend Veterans Park in Hendersonville, Vol State, and Pope John Paul will be utilized along with Drakes Creek.

Good tournament, a lot of good play, all of the players I saw were class As usual disappointing behavior by just a few parents gets noticed This game is about the girls, not the parents, not the umpires Personally I would like to see the final 4 this weekend at the Commando Classic played in a sound proof stadium so that you don't have to listen to parents make excuses, make stupid comments about the other team, the other team's coaches or the umpires. It's funny you see 15-18 year old young ladies behavior being very good but you see adults acting liking idiots. Let's remember one thing parents: It's is not about you!!!!!

Here are a few of my impressions of the season Goodpasture- Very motivated, class team and coaches Soddy Daisy- Great young ladies, very classy, and then there is Clifford (what you see is what you get) Rossview- After all Coach Burkhart went through he should be coach of the year. Great year, class team and coaches Beech- Kassie is one of the greatest competitors I have ever seen. Her leadership took them further than anyone thought possible. Great first year for Coach Woods Riverdale- The softball gods owe Coach Breeden one. He is a great coach. West Tennessee softball outside of Memphis- Other than Trinity Christian not very good. Good fans, lack of committment from administrations in West Tennessee. Red Bank- This is why games are not played on paper. When you beat Riverdale, Beech and Soddy you deserve the big trophy. Great heart!

Going to a different topic I have seen both Baylor and St Benedict play at earlier tournaments this year and based on what I saw I would give a razor thin edge to St Benedict. If these teams play 10 times they would probably split 5-5. I live in Middle Tennessee so I don't have a dog in this fight.

I remember the game with McGavock and Mel Brown in the early 80's. I believe it also happened with one of the Murfreesboro schools (maybe Riverdale) and Warren County in a district tournament game maybe 10 years ago. There is no excuse for a coach not knowing the rule or keeping up with how many innings a kid has pitched. It is also not wrong for Halls to bring it up.

Since the TSSAA started softball in 1979 no West Tennessee team outside of Shelby County has won a state championship. Why??

In No Particular Order of the teams I have seen Soddy(when they are on they are the best) Riverdale(if the pitchers are healthy they are solid and very well coached) Goodpasture(the most talent of any team in the state, but didn't hit the ball early in the season) Brentwood(great young talent) Greenbrier(small ball will drive you crazy) St. Benedict (they will run through a brick wall to win) Haven't seen Lincoln County, Coffee County, Baylor, Marshall County
