  1. Yeah… all boys school. So they have double the amount of boys to pick from than anyone else. Maybe even 3x
  2. I can’t believe they are allowed to compete in A like that. Doesn’t make since
  3. let’s looks at enrollment numbers… Frank Hughes 93 Santa Fe 154 Chattanooga Prep 246 Jellico 273 Memphis Middle College 311 North Greene 317 Union City 356 Gordonsville 365 oh and Chatt Prep is an all boys school…
  4. By the looks of it. Ridgeway has been a little underrated. They destroyed a good Creekwood team last barely lost to upperman 2! It gonna be Fulton and ridge in the finals. Upper can’t hand with Fulton
  5. TSSAA/TMSAA don’t care about rules. There have been schools turned in for breaking rules and nothing happens. TMSAA told one of the coaches who reported it on the phone - “they have only been part of TMSAA for a few years. We need more schools competing in state. So we aren’t doing anything about it. We don’t want to run anyone off” the school was practicing before the deadline and even held scrimmages. While other schools are waiting till 2 weeks before their first game. it’s infuriating when some schools follow rules and hold themselves accountable and others don’t.
  6. I’m with most of y’all. Upperman/Fulton will probably win it. Creekwood hung with upperman 2 times this year. Can’t count them out. They are clicking at the right time
  7. Let’s be honest. Both teams aren’t gonna win a state game. East will win this one once they figure out WHHs big boy. After him, they are very average.
  8. I didn’t mean to quote you in that post. I was meaning it in general on this post. But, plenty of really talented kids have gone to lesser known basketball programs and make a name. Look at Knect guy at UT. Are you gonna think different of Ty if he goes to Cookville instead of Knoxville?
  9. So many passive aggressive and unbiased comments. Haha
  10. I had a coach that would push us and get the best out of each and every one of us. We could dominate our district or at least win in most years for about 8-10 years. Come region time, the Memphis schools would smack us. They were just bigger and better most years. Eventually those schools got bumped up a class. Great coach but never won the region. Made it to sub state twice. Lost by a free throw in one game.
  11. So, you won and your complaining about the refs? Just wondering
  12. I’ve seen all those wrestlers at 126. Dupill wins every time. The hat kid is special. Never seen anyone on his level at that weight class
  13. Just curious. How do you know they tanked. I’m not a fan of them or anyone from that district. Truly just curious bc I’ve heard of teams doing this
  14. 120- Landon Turner just beat the Duncan kid. Great match. Came down to the last 15 seconds
  15. This is a cool thread. Wish there were more middle TN and West Tn schools on here
  16. Again, Maybe I read the original post incorrectly. But I thought it made it seem like the parents in the stands were coaches. But they didn’t sit on the bench. I’m under the impression that they are coaches but also parents

  18. Why is that a problem if the parent knows the game and is unbiased?
  19. Also, I don’t know the rules, exactly. So I might not of answered your question. Just stated my opinion
  20. I think it depends. As long as the head coach is the head coach. Why can’t a team utilize more staff? Volunteer or not. When I coached, I used every bit of help I could get but made it clear I was in charge. Depending on the team size. 4 coaches seems to be about right with 20 players
  21. This is true! Upperman middle recently joined TMSAA and were turned in for the amount of practices over the summer, the amount of games they play and so on. But nothing came of it because they were told “we don’t want to run anyone off and we want more schools to participate.” Meanwhile, most schools don’t practice till 2 weeks before their first game… they out here practicing year round
  22. this is gonna hurt some feelings. But I don’t have a dog in this fight. Just a middle Tn guy who watches a lot of ball. Having seen all these teams play…. Fairview is overhyped from last year. They have been a 3a school playing in a 2a district for a while. They lost their 3rd maybe 4th best player from last year but returned 3/4s if not more of their scoring from last year, so they should be good. Now they struggle against teams of equal caliber. This is the year for them though. Once they graduate this class, they are really gonna struggle the next few years competing in 3a. creekwood is solid. They are well coached and disciplined. Great at running their offense and finding open looks. Their point gaurd is the weakest link. He can cost them the game with his bad decisions. A lot of those kids have been playing a lot of varsity ball for a while. And find ways to win and compete, but they are beatable and they are not very dominant. sycamore is better than anyone expected. They mostly score around the basket and 12 ft out. Really good rebounders. DIRTY AS CRAP. Watched a kid hold a players arm down on tip off. Then 3 plays later that same player stuck his leg out and waited on a guy to trip running down the floor. Got a tech for that one. They got about 4 techs against Cheatham for just being cocky. They obviously aren’t used to winning. Coach doesn’t seem to care so they probably won’t fair in tournamnet time when players start sitting. MC is MC of last year…
  23. I agree with all that. East Hickman looks decent. Better than I thought. Harpeth isn’t. They hang with some good teams. But lose to teams that aren’t as good as them. Who’s the one you say could be the best player in the region? Cheatham is looking better. Hickman is the best team. But after that, I think it’s a toss up. Gonna be fun to watch. Seems like this district is close in talen from top to bottom. Y’all see that Fairview is 2-10!?
