  1. Region 1 6A might actually go 0-4 this year and all leave in round 1. The only chance they have is Dobyns-Bennett against Farragut or Bearden. Particularly Farragut.
  2. DB actually won the basketball state champ in 2022 I believe(not sure what year). Every year there's at least one guy who goes D1 for track, sometimes other sports. The athletes are there. The track guy never wants to play for the football program. Football and baseball both have year round programs, and they lose a lot of great athletes to the baseball program. Pretty much never the other way around. The football coaching staff is weak like most schools around here not named Betsy or Greeneville. There is favoritism for booster club players, but I'm not gonna rant about that because it irks a lot of people. Also probably one of the only school systems capable of losing athletes to its marching band. There's something like over 500 kids in the band. And a lot of them do play sports, but it's like swimming, track, cross country. The program is also not unified. I've seen the middle schools running the wing t like TN high used to do(not sure if they do anymore) when the high school runs mostly RPOs out of the shotgun. The program is just bad, and it does not attract the talented youth in Kingsport. DB has really good CTE and academic programs to where someone can have a promising career and not give af about football. State championship wrestlers don't want to stand there and watch guys get pummeled. Guys who run sub 5 40s dont wanna grind football all year just to sit on the bench and watch a wr, cb or safety with a 5.3 40 to get completely outclassed. In short, the amount of resources means the football program has to compete for talented youth in a way most schools don't, and it doesn't do it well.
  3. Lmao I didn't even hear about that. Honestly, I don't mind it. It's nice seeing some teams with talent and speed. Makes for better football.
  4. Upper east TN schools all have weak coaching staffs except for Greeneville and E town. You can't win state championships in basketball or baseball and then use lack of talent as an excuse for not doing well in football. The athletes are there at a lot of these programs.
  5. Let me know when DB wins a state championship with the coaching staff it has now.
  6. Rye Cove also has the old DC from Dobyns-Bennett. Guy took a 20k paycut because he was sick of coaching alongside idiots.
  7. There's always people willing to play, it's just a matter if Knox Catholic is willing to play.
  8. Sums up most bureaucrats, businessmen and politicians today.
  9. Bad head coaches getting removed from their high school? Good luck with that. Almost never happens, and when it finally does the program is usually in shambles.
  10. I don't know. Most people I know around here have a favorable opinion of those two. I'd say DB is probably the most hated because they're one of the biggest schools in the state, mostly beat up smaller/weaker schools, and never do anything in the playoffs.
  11. Science Hill maybe. Science Hill has a penchant for losing to teams they shouldn't, and then upsetting good or great teams. Region 2 is strong this year whereas WR, WB, and MoEast are all terrible teams. DB's 1 fast wr came from Greeneville. Agree about DB not being very good this year or last year. 2019 seems to be one of their best teams in the past decade or so.
  12. Not only that, they used to put all their best athletes on defense, and everyone else went on offense. I'm not sure if it's still like that or not. Also db too worried about giving good ole boys with connections coaching jobs and playing lil timmy whose daddy donated to the booster's club to ever have a chance at winning a state title. DB has had a lot of D1 athletes-for other sports-because those athletes didn't want to have to deal with booster club player favoritism in both playing time and talent development. Good ole boys waste too much time tryna turn lil timmys into decent players. We did win the basketball championship last year though, so that shows not all the coaches in all sports are terrible. The band program is also amazing. Also shows that there are good athletes at DB-most just don't want to play football for reasons listed above
  13. I sometimes watch the Dobyns Bennett streams because they stream every game at home, and there will be like thousands watching, especially against Greeneville. Maybe they'd actually fill the upper deck if they'd stop streaming
  14. Dukes probably big and strong because he got held back. He was in my grade or maybe one above when I was in 6th and 7th grade. I am now graduated. Not sure how many times he got held back. At least once. Maybe two, three, or four times.
  15. Elizabethton, Anderson County, Powell, and Maryville all have good defenses.
  16. Alcoa helps kids relocate. They have kids from Georgia and ####. Also, I knew a guy in Kingsport that Alcoa tried to recruit, and he said they were willing to help relocate and everything. Not sure how it's allowed.
  17. For public school ball, yes it has been. Knoxville and surrounding areas produces a lot of state champs. Greeneville is only 45 minutes from Knoxville. Maryville is even closer. etc etc. Now for private school ball I don't know
  18. I feel like William Blount will be stuck in Maryville's shadow for a long time. Maryville has managed to be a powerhouse for quite some time.
  19. People act like most public high school coaches are that much better than little league coaches. They aren't, and when they are, they end up going to a private school and/or a college.
