The good slappers go as far as the umpire will let them. Most people don't realize that Fekete actually stepped in front of the plate almost every time. It was never called.

Watley is a bell cow, one of the best. Sarah Fekete and Caitlin Lowe are the two slappers that I had the pleasure to see play live. Two of the hardest outs in softball.

St. Benedict is currently starting three slappers. Our summer team also has three slappers in the lineup. Mix them in with a couple of power hitters and you have the potential to score a lot of runs. If you cannot find a good slapper instructor in Middle I suggest buying a slapper tape. Jay Miller, John Tschida and Larry Ray have good instructional tapes. Very few West Tennessee teams travel east. They build up gaudy records and demand respect. There is only one place to earn respect......on the field. IMO TCA is one of the teams out of the west that will travel.

Trinity's defense was not very sharp last night. They committed five errors and St. Benedict capitalized on those mistakes. Sturdivant pitched a great game, kept Trinity off balance all night. SBA defense was solid.

Happens to me all the time. Get in a hurry...pack too quick...leave a kid in the parking lot.

7.Did Coffee County fix the tourney where they would have an easy way to the finals? That is a question that needs to be asked Coach Floyd and yes I have played in many tournaments where the home team got advantages, but remember what the name of this tournament was called The Coffee County Tournament so if it was ok, if it was not ok as well but as a coach if you do not like it do not come back! We did not have a problem with the format, just wanted to play great teams.... mission accomplished. Thanks Coffee County.

At the 2006 State tournament the umpire waited until the 6th inning to call this on us. This rule is rarely enforced.

Can you put your season record at the bottom of each post?

It is really bad when the umpire waits til the fifth or sixth inning to start calling it. Most pitchers can brush it off but some will let it get in their head. All we as coaches want is consistency.

Good points ERA, I believe that the key is to get the player to think of the positives, picture that perfect hit or great defensive play. It is not hard to avoid negatives when teaching. As you posted, concentrate on the successes and your players will be sucessful.

Last year we participated in six tournaments during the summer excluding Nationals. Two of the tournament we played 10 games(two Friday, four Saturday and four Sunday), the others we played 6 to 8 games. If you play in small tournaments you should be able to finish on Saturday but if there are a lot of teams in your age bracket Sunday play is needed.
