  1. Would somebody give me the results of the past TSSAA championships in High School Basketball for boys and girls....I would venture to say that Publics dominate those sports. So if it were true that Privates recruit the best athletes and pay them via "scholarships", "Financial Aid", "Under the table money", etc. etc....then why no basketball domination for the privates? I mean if Privates can get any athlete they want, what's the answer? According to most public supporters on this Forum, it's all about winning at all costs at these institutions. One other thing, if the above is true as you say, why do the privates like USJ, JCS & Trinity ever have down years in football, track, bowling or any sport with for that matter? Guess its because the influx of money was not as great as needed the preceeding years, huh. Go figure the logic in that!
  2. Liles hit bounced off the wall for a double. It is 7-3 with all of USJ's runs unearned.....9 errors by Gibbs...unbelievable.
  3. JCS punches their ticket to the championship with a 19-6 win over Lookout Valley.....45 runs in two wins today....awesome. Great job Eagles.
  4. USJ has just gone up 5-3 in the 4th and have man on 3rd with one out. Gibbs has 7 errors so far.
  5. Sorry wingman...USJ wins 14-0 and JCS wins 26-0 (Hope that doesn't come back to bite them) Great job Bruins and Eagles.
  6. 10-0 after 4....I hear JCS is up 16-0 over Lookout Valley after 3 .
  7. USJ scores 4 more in top of second to go up 6-0.
  8. Gant's pitching....USJ scores 2 in top of 1st (3 back to back to back hits with 2 outs)
  9. I hear Joseph Talley has been warming up that tired left noodle arm since 7am this morning.....Could it be.... /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  10. Hey, Big E, check out the ESPN 96.5 forum on this site. They should have a link for the USJ/Gibbs game today. Yesterday's problems were internet related, but they promised to have them rectified by today, but this is the only game they are carrying. Go Bruins!!
  11. True, but alot of people on here are promoting Wed thru Sun tourney set up so that #1's can pitch Wed and then Sun. That's only 3 days rest. Lintz is a very good pitcher and MC a good team, but MC has rode that horse hard the last week just to get here. I hope he has enough gallop to go again. Everyone likes to see good talent and good baseball on display at the State Tourney. Good luck the rest of the way MC. Go Bruins!!!
  12. Yes, especially since the 96.5 ESPN link is not working /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
  13. I don't recall seeing anything about what parents make a year, just that 100% of the graduating class was getting scholarships. Anyways, this forum is for doing a little bragging and boasting.....everyone knows or should know by now that the game still has to be played and that BOTH teams are deserving of where they are today.
  14. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Appreciated the gesture then and now. I plan on listening to 96.5, but will call if I want to "really" hear the crowd.
  15. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .....with that, I excuse myself from futher conversation on this subject as I have a migrane from trying to get that picture etched in my mind out of there. Good luck to the Bruins today. Wish I could be there.
  16. Beware all USJ fans, I have met the great Pageman at the State Volleyball Tournament last year. If he pulls down the red suspenders (aka Jerry "The King" Lawler) then even old Jose may get scared. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Pageman, speaking from experience as a supporter of USJ sports past and present, you will be safe no matter where you sit. Heck, Jose would probably even ask you or anyone else if you wanted a diet coke on his way to the concession stand. That's the real people you would be sitting by. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Here's to watching some great games this week........Go USJ.
  17. Necvol, you can go back to some of the posts on here a couple of years ago when Preston, Hunter Smith, Trey Buckley, etc were all playing travel ball as 6th/7th graders and we were trying to tell everyone that USJ had a great group of youngsters coming up thru the ranks. Great job Preston!! Same goes to Hunter & Trey and the others too.
  18. My understanding is that if you have not participated in a "Varsity" event, you can transfer and play.
  19. Touche'......funny how that works. What was the score for both games and who pitched for Liberty? Surely not Gavin Lindsey /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  20. You do realize that CoachT has a way of tracking messages back to specific computers don't you? This also allows him the opportunity to see what other names you go under and your account info. If you are a student sending this from school, he can/will contact the school also. Just an FYI.
  21. Not gonna rehash old rivalry trashtalk, but something about stones being cast in a glass house applies to your remark. Oh well, you're not coming back to this thread so it doesn't matter anyways. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  22. VG could answer/verify this better than I could, but if I am not mistaken, Liberty Magnet HS in Jackson, TN (winners of two straight AA boys BB championships) has a zone for attendance. Anyone outside of that zone that wants to attend is chosen by lottery picks and usually there are only a small number of openings each year. These lottery drawings are open to the public, so I don't see how they have much of an advantage if any.
  23. Oh come on Kublah, you know that all privates schools have (I mean can afford) one ratty bus that picks those kids up at 5:30 in the morning so that they can be at school by 8. They usually have lights on 'em too so that they can take them home after school, football practice and such. Most make it home by 8 or 9. Let's see, at about 5 miles to the gallon, thats 30 gallons one way and at $2.50/gallon would equal $75.00 per bus trip one way each day. Now we see why those private schools have to charge so much for tuition. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> If their lucky, the heat may even work.
