  1. No one expects that Memphis Central will not be back? Someone else out of Memphis.
  2. Were you trying to message me, email is bobwrick73@yahoo.com

  3. My question is why he left a team a few months ago because of health reasons, and in such a short time decided to apply for another job. Stone Memorial has been really good, and seems like had a lot of young players. I know one coach was asked to interview but declined cause they felt he would get the job.
  4. 5 people were contacted to interview, I was told one coach from outside the area ended up withdrawing when he realized other people that have been named were also part of the process.
  5. Coach If you have a Business, Marketing, Economics or Government position, and we could find my wife an elementary school job, give me a call. I am sure both would be hard though.
  6. email me at bobwrick73@yahoo.com please

  7. Why would see not want to return home. I heard she was offered another job, but I cannot really say where.
  8. One person says there is talent coming up and one poster says there is not much talent. So which is it? Coach McMillan is not that far removed from some very successful seasons there.
  9. They are on Spring Break this week, with several other schools. Likely no decision for Trenton or Bradford until next week.
  10. The one thing I will say, and it is not about Allison Clark, cause she may be a great coach, and it might be a lot of other factors. But not always do great players make great coaches. Another factor, did Coach Clark have any high school coaching experience before she took the Shelbyville job?? I think over the last few years we have seen on the girls side of basketball people gets jobs as head coaches with little experience coaching high school basketball, and several have not fared that well.
  11. email me at bobwrick73@yahoo.com

  12. Any talk of who would be interested in the Trenton Peabody job that was posted on TSSAA's website.
  13. A few years back I worked at Ridgeway, and it was not an Optional School, did that change recently?
  14. The word recruiting used in my statement had absolutely nothing to do with a coach improperly going to parents homes, making phone calls or whatever else to get a player to come to their school to play. I know full well your issue here, and it will be left at that. But the fact of a team going to Hawaii to play makes a lot of people interested in wanting to play for that particular school. Sometimes we need to realize parents want the best opportunity for their son or daughter and sometimes they make decisions we do not like, and the influence we want to accuse of being there is not there.
  15. If you are a parent, have a choice where to send your child to play, where you want them to go, a school that the coach works as hard as Coach Bray does. It is a GREAT recruiting tool, where would anyone's daughter rather go, a team that is playing in Hawaii or Phoenix, or going to play just across town in a tournament.
  16. Phargis I respect your thoughts, but I have to disagree. I believe Coach Bray has a very good reason for getting her players out to these tournaments. Getting them exposure they would never get playing in state. Now her reasoning is different from the school I coach at in Missouri. Our problem is there is very little competition at the level we play, therefore to find challenging games to prepare us for the post season we have to schedule whatever competition we can find. Last season we played Whitney Young, Wichita Heights and Midwest City, OK. All teams featured D-1 prospects, and we also played some of the best competition in the area including perennial power St. Joseph Academy. The head coach at Arkansas asked questions about a Jr guard we have that would have never even had her on the radar had we not played in Ft Smith Ark and the Tournament of Champions. The other side of playing out of state vs in state is that by playing in state you give future state tournament teams if you play them during the regular season to have a better feel how they should play you if they have a second chance. I was an assistant under a very good coach that has won a few championships and he avoided playing many teams in the same classification as he might see them in the post season, and he was at an advantage by them not having played his team already. But most important, this is an opportunity for the entire team, they may be great players that get D-1 offers, but others will be on these teams and their final basketball experience will be high school. Looking back and having gone to Phoenix, Chicago, Hawaii or wherever might the the highlight of their high school experience.
  17. PHargis Be nice, I am hoping my team matches up with them in Hawaii, my new school vs my old school, so it is ok to venture out of the state. I understand what you are saying, but also remember some of these experience are so awesome for the kids, it is not exactly fair to turn down an invitation to play in a Nike tourney in Hawaii and Phoenix to play in state competition.
  18. Memphis is not open zoned, but Central for example is an Optional school with a College Prep program. Students are zoned for the Central High district, but students can also apply under the Optional program. But not any player can come just cause they apply, there are high academic standards for those that get an Optional transfer.
  19. Thanks for jumping on our Message Board. I am Bob and coordinating the site for Missouri. Would be glad to have you help contribute. Email me sometime at bobwrick73@yahoo.com

  20. I have been coaching in Missouri the last couple years but started in TN and still follow these boards. I know how passionate fans are in Tennessee, and hope you at least pray for this person. Stephanie Phillips is a girls' basketball coach at Springfield, MO and is battling colon cancer. I have never had to read anything about sports quite so touching. I do not know Coach Phillips personally, but know about her teams. She is a great coach, and from all accounts an even greater person. I know God has a plan, and even if we do not understand it, or think it is fair, it is his plan. I hope his plan is just to raise awareness for cancer with many that follow basketball and sports throughout these areas. Lets keep this thread at the topic, and everyone that sees this will open their hear the way it opened mine and pray for Coach Phillips to defeat this battle like she has so many others. My prayers, and I hope all of MoSports is behind her. I am passing this along to my friends in Tennessee on CoachT.com and hope they take the same challenge to pray for her, and appreciate the battle being fought. This is most recent post and a link to the blog kept by her friend. this is the most recent post by her friend Chrissy on her blog: June 6, 2010 I have to write a post tonight that I don't want to write. I have been given permission to update you all on Steph's condition. I'm just going to put it out there...no sugar coating. She wanted to me to ask you all first and foremost, to PLEASE pray for her pain to go away or at least become more tolerable. She is on A LOT of pain medication right now. She has lost 13 pounds in the last two weeks, 30 since January. She is weak, is having trouble eating and is miserable. You can't even imagine how her condition has deteriorated over the past few weeks. Her most recent scan revealed what we feared...more cancer. Even with chemo every week and radiation 5 days a week for 7 weeks, this cancer is ravaging her body. During this fight, we have been afforded the luxury of a seemingly healthy girl. She never looked the part of a cancer patient. She never lost her hair and when she did look sick, it was because of the chemo. We are now faced with the ugly reality that this cancer is overpowering her. Please pray for the following: 1. Her pain to go away. This is the most important. 2. Scot as he tries to keep life as normal as possible for the boys. 3. Her boys. 4. My mom, she has been designated primary care giver for Steph...by Steph. 5. Her family and friends. 6. Her miracle. 22. According to scsk12.org it says Germantown and Collierville are hiring coaches for Boys Basketball, does not list MIllington.
  23. What is ironic last year, and even the time before when this job was open some young coaches have applied for this job, they did not get it, some never contacted, and later those coaches went on to get other jobs, and have good success. Maybe they should thank the AD and Prinicipal for passing on them. No offense, but the last two hires were not good hires, not cause they were not good coaches, but they were not good sales to the school and community. Maybe the administration needs to look at some other schools and fixed their programs and see what those coaches all have in common. Just an outside thought.
  24. I know some of the names that signed out of Memphis last year. I know a few, but leaving off a lot. I am trying to prove to some people in Missouri how far behind they are from where Memphis and Tennessee is at in basketball. Jasmine James - Georgia Adrienne Pratcher - Texas A&M Jasmine Taylor - Arkansas St Erica Burgess - SE La St?? Jamila Ajanakula - Middle Tennessee State Sarah Watkins - Arkansas LaTesa McLauglin - Tennessee-Martin Ashley Robinson - Memphis Chi-Chi Okwumabua - Arkansas-Pine Bluff Anyone know about Candis Clear April Hall Christina Lasane Jessica Brown or anyone else I may have left off.
  25. Just a thought, and I know Jason pretty well, but what about working your butt off to earn or maintain playing time. I am just saying.
